I obviously voted for bring back TOT but the first half of the “im only here for the drops” option also applies to me.

The story in GOTG is completely irrelevant as soon as the elevator shoots you up. You re just seeing familiar characters doing apparently “entertaining” things for a few seconds at a time to the sound of 1of 6 oldie songs. The brain isn’t processing any sort of story. The on ride story and show scenes have been way downgraded to TV screens that do nothing to make me buy the illusion of the Guardians action taking place in front of me in a 2D environment. The thrill is still there obviously and there is a lot more air time but with less suspenseful drops (except for the new initial launch).

The only thing that Mission: Box Office has over Tower is the different drop profiles and the Rocket AA which is a total tease since the actual ride is not that impressive. Everything else is a chaotic mess. The exterior is an embarrassing eyesore, the use of screens over real sets is laughable and the story is so rushed it forgets to show us the Gaurdians escaping their cages most times.

I will say though that I still enjoy Breakout despite it’s flaws. The different drop sequences are a lot of fun and the queue has some really neat details. If it was it’s own attraction and not a cheap and rushed overlay to one of my favorite attractions then I would be a lot more positive about it.

FWIW, when I rode Mission Breakout last week I saw lots of people (kids and adults) quoting both the Collector and Rocket in the library the same way people annoyingly recite the Ghost Host's spiel in the stretching room. And almost everyone, nearly a year after it opened, was still totally into putting their hands up for the various hand scans and totally going along with the story.

Also, don't forget -- those 'show scenes' with the screens used to not even be part of the attraction once you started dropping. There was no visual experience with the dropping whatsoever. The scenes for ToT were almost exclusively pre-show/setup, even once on-ride. Once the thrills came, we had nada.

Except there were scenes before the drops. And there were no scenes on the drops because it was a 1940s elevator so it would make 0 sense if there were screens.

It never should've changed and totally wrecks any semblance of theming that the land it's in has. I agree that on the surface it's a better thrill ride than ToT ever was, but for the thematic cost? No way.

An additional reason it's viewed so negatively is because it's going to keep people in constant suspense for the future of Florida's ToT for the rest of time probably.

This is my favorite ride at WDW. I think I value it because it terrified me the first time I did it. I also love the Twilight Zone, and am old enough to have seen some episodes on regular broadcast TV - not searching for it on streaming services/online.

How would I feel if they changed it? I'd miss the Twilight Zone version, but the new one would most likely be the one my daughter (younger one will never do this) would ride first, and be the only one she remembers. The new ride better be good.

For Orlando which isn't space constrained, I'd rather see new experiences added than a re-skin of a popular ride. I never rode EoE in many trips to Epcot, so have less complaint about it changing. The loss of the edutainment is my only concern.

My favorite ride as a kid was 20,000 Leagues.

Scares me to think about it, and Disney YouTuber's on their high horses think they have the answer for a new theme at Orlando.

Something tells me that a Doctor Strange overlay for Florida's ToT would be amazing. Think about the magic that could be interjected into the ride. The building becomes Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. We could see all kinds of Marvel exhibits stored there. A cool magic gate could replace the elevator's door.

The random drop sequences objectively make MB a better ride.

You can argue theming but DCA's TOT was always the red-headed stepchild of all the Towers. That will be its legacy.

I actually preferred DCA's TOT because of the superior ride experience. Sure, the facade and queue weren't as well executed as Tokyo or Florida, but I love the updated version of the ride.

Mission BO just seems so cheap. I remember being in shock in the queue seeing elements just repainted badly like the queue was a low budget escape room set. The Rocket AA is cool, but difficult to see sometimes due to poor placement, and the ride is a chaotic mess. I don't hate Mission BO, but it does feel like a cheap knock off of a Universal attraction.

If you add the 10 don't cares to the Mission Breakout option you will see total number that like or don't care is larger than those wanting the old theme back.

Personally I would nuke the ride from orbit but that's just me.

To the ride's credit, this wouldn't be a discussion if a reskin was never brought to the table. I don't remember anybody (outside of "it's not DHS version") saying ToT needed to be changed before M:B was brought to the table.

Why would there be? There was no alternate theme presented to discuss.
