I just returned from DLR from a stay between June 25- June 29 and offer my somewhat contrarian views.
1. I think Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout is fantastic. To me its way more fun than the original Tower of Terror. I'm not joking. I think the story works, the music is great and I like the energy. It was my favorite experience of the trip and we did it 4 times. I recognize that I may be an outlier on this view.
2. The Frozen Show is a step down from Aladdin. And frankly its too long. I just think one hour is too long to ask little kids to sit still in the dark.
3. Mickey's Philharmagic is a bit of disaster. It doesn't work in the non-surround theater. at all.
4. I think Hyperspace Mountain was awesome. My second favorite experience of the trip. Whoever came up with that idea and figured out a way to work in the effects is a genius to me. Really really well done.
5. I thought Galaxy's Edge was fine. Not great but mostly fine. Smugglers Run was very good (not great) but very good. The area is fine though compared to Harry Potter I thought it was a little lacking in merchandise options. We were not able to get into the Cantina so I can't offer a comment on that.
6. I thought the Incredicoaster re-do was pretty mediocre. Works better at night than during the day. I am not offended by the smaller ride Pixar Re-dos. They don't take up space and give younger kids something to do.
7. The Grand Californian is one of my favorite hotels in the world. Just awesome and so convenient.
8. Grizzly River Rapids is still a great ride to me.
9. Enjoyed doing the Original Soarin Over California ride but I'm ambivalent on the whole California v. World debate. If there is one.
10. I thought the video screen plussing of the Alice In Wonderland Ride was pretty cool and a nice way to update an old attraction.
11. I wish there was a way to make the Matterhorn a less violent experience. It is really really rough.
12. Radiator Springs Racers and the entire Carsland is just perfect to me (and yes, even Mater's Barnyard Whatever and Luigi's Rollicking Roadsters is included in that view).
