They claim it is so the winner will be notified appropriately. My guess it is just an elaborate way for them to make sure they have up-to-date info on everyone. Oddly enough, my address wasn't on file which would probably explain why I never get the Mickey Monitor.
OK. That does explain a bit.

Where do you register for the Mickey Monitor? I haven't received one in a long time...

Alright, here is a question for you legal types out there. At the bottom it says "NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN, NOR WILL A PURCHASE IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING"

Technically isn't purchase necessary? I mean you have to purchase an annual pass right? Am I missing something? :veryconfu

I bought the annual pass at the end of June with the discount thanks to a member on this board. This week I received an envelope in the mail from Disney with the May issue of the Mickey Monitor and a piece of gift artwork welcoming me to the Passholder Family. I know that when I got my annual pass they put the address that was listed on my Driver's License in the computer at that time. I receive mail at a PO Box and not a street address as there is no home delivery from the Post Office where I live and on my license I have the PO Box address and not a street address.

I went online today to register to win this stay and when I updated my information it didn't have my address or the fact that I was an annual pass holder. I have a feeling that the information on the website and your annual pass information are not connected to each other. The website has a different login then your Passholder info.

I would call Disney to make sure that they have your correct mailing address on file with your Annual Pass as entering this contest and updating your profile on the Disney site probably will not update your Annual Pass info.

I'll have to wait until September to apply. Now the tough question....which kid do we leave at home if we win?:drevil:

Easy answer: give them some clubs and have them fight it out, film it and put it on youtube. Then you'll have a free trip to New York to be on the Today show to explain how it was all a misunderstanding in addition to the trip to Disney World.

I'm not a legal type but this is one of the first questions that arose for me as well. No skin off my back since I'm AP, but curious.

I'm sure the Disney lawyers had to give this their blessing but I'm not sure how this sweepstakes is not violating sweepstakes laws.

For example - the official rules state that:

"This Sweepstakes is being conducted during the period commencing at 12:01 A.M., August 6, and ending at 5:00 P.M., October 30, 2009 ("Entry Period"), for persons who are Walt Disney World® Passholders in good standing during the full Entry Period."

Therefore, if your pass expires at any time prior to 10/30/09, you are required to renew or your entry would be invalid.

Likewise, if you're not a PH, but really want to enter the contest, you must purchase a pass to enter.

Sweepstakes laws are really pretty uncomplicated if you care to Google and read a little. The laws also state that if it is stated that "No Purchase Is Necessary", then the alternate form of entry must be clearly stated in the rules.

I hope some lawyer comes along here and clears this up.

I thought the Cindy suite was open for anyone to win. I read somewhere that they randomly pick people, so-n-so at such-n-such place in one of the parks we're picked by computer by the seat they were in an anytime, is this not true?

I guess between this and the 15-month dealio, it's an indication they're really hoping their APers will help them get through another period of financial leanness

Previously, yes... but that ended with the end of the "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion

I know I am doing my part to help out.

Of course all the utility companies and food stores around here may go out of business because the Mouse has all my money. :lookaroun

Yeah, that's why I'm not bothering to enter the sweepstakes to begin with. My AP expires on Sept 6, and I won't be renewing it. (At most, I'll be buying a new AP when I go next June)
