4. Your use of the term, "hero " in quote marks implies that you are quoting me.
Perhaps to you the action of using quote marks anywhere within a reply implies that the context is quoting the original post, but people often put obviously misleading terms in quotes to signify that they don't really mean exactly what the quoted words imply. It is often meant as sarcasm, a dark art often lost upon the humor impaired and those reading posts without seeing the implied smilies.

For example, if I felt that unless I was a complete "luzer" on this board, I wouldn't be beating this absolutely-beaten-to-death-horse to death, now would I?

(Note, for the humor impaired, the preceding quote does not imply or in any way signify that the afforementioned person, hereafter in this legal proceeding known as CHAPPS, is in any was a luzer. Please see the bailiff when leaving the courtroom to receive your voucher for lunch and parking.)

I believe a "thank you" would have been a nice thing to receive from the parents. But I do not believe he is "entitled" to it. And most importantly, if someone's child almost died (whether I was the person who saved the child or not), I would not be so ignorant as to impose my own rules of social etiquette on them and refer to them as "annoying guests". I have to believe there were some real human emotions involved here on the part of the parents. Who are we to say how they were supposed to behave?

In MY opinion he is entitled to a thank you. And I believe the "annoying guests" part came in because they were not paying attention to the child. I don't believe they were annoying because there was no thank you.

Spectro parade

I took my two nieces about 6 years ago ( I have been since ) two Disney in the MK and watching the spectro parade that the showings had been reduced to two nights a week instead of everynight. We tried the 1st time and couldnt get in and the 2nd time we tried we were constantly watching we were not trampled on by other people trying to barge and push past us to get to the front like the world was about to end. I am a crazy disney fanatic but for peoples safety most of them didnt care and my niece had to go on my husbands shoulders something we didnt want to do as blocking other peoples views, otherwise she would have got squashed. Maybe I am too thoughful???

We were at Typhoon Lagoon a few years ago. Deciding it was time to eat, my brother and I took orders and sent my son 15, and neices, 14 and 12 to find a table. They found a table, grabbed napkins and straws and waited. While still in line my son came back and said that some lady sat at the end of the table. I told him not to worry, we'll be right back and she'll probably leave when she sees us with all the food. We got back to the table with the food and proceeded to pass it out. I tried to ignore the women (hoping she'd leave) and had to ask my neices to scoot over so I could sit down. The 5 of us started to eat when the ladies son came to the table and sat down. Then they started talking to us about how this was their last hurrah for summer since the boy was starting school on Monday cause they start school early in Florida, blah, blah. If the seating area had been crowded or if they had food to eat I wouldn't have minded. There were empty tables and they never got anything to eat. She just wanted a place in the shade. We've never gone back to a water park on a Saturday since then, too crowded. We try to hit them early in the week.

I got back from WDW about two weeks ago. We ate at the counter service place across from the Mexican Pavilion. We were looking for a place to eat, and while we were looking we saw some people sitting at a table with containers and food all over the ground. It was such a waist I can't dsescribe it. So what do they do? They get up and walk away. I really felt bad for the CM cleaning it up.

I also just hate it when people withoutwrist bands try and get on line two hours into EMH. I hate it even more when people without wristbands are sitting in front of me on an attraction during EMH.

I know this is totally off the thread, and please excuse my ignorance, but what are EMH wristbands? and where do you get them? Do you get them at check-in or upon entering the parkor where. I wondered how they worked letting Disney resort patrons have EMH. I am leaving in 15 days and would like to look as if I know what I am doing. Again thanks to everyone for indulging me on this intrusion.

Oh man...i've seen a few. My absolute favorite was on ToT. We were in the shaft just before the drop and all the house lights came on. Well, after being stuck for maybe 5 minutes, this lady starts freaking out and was screaming because she hated elevators and started to say a few choice words. After hearing all that I let her know that I didn't appreciate her choice of words:zipit: and she told me that she was "gonna get outa here", and proceded to get herself out from under the safety restraint. Now by the time she started to get herself free of the restraint, 10 min. had passed and I thought i was gonna loose it. She started to stand up in the elevator:brick: and another gentleman asked her to sit down because she was making him nervous and I agreed. Then the announcement came on that the ride was going to start back up momentarily and she hurried back to her seat (the very back middle). Well...she started to freak out:eek: because she couldn't get back into her seat belt. Now I started to panic because I knew that if the ride did start up again and drop us, this lady was gonna get seriously hurt. So I called 911 from my cell phone (I know it is a little over the top, but it was the first thing into my mind). After talking to the operator for maybe a minute, a bellhop came up to escort us down:sohappy: because the ride was down. A miracle in my opinion. He was very upset that she had "freed" herself and asked her to calm down, then proceeded to let us out. She then said a few more choice words to the bell hop and he took us down the stairs. It was byfar the worst 15 minutes of my life. I love to tell the story. It is funny now, to me at least, but then it really stressed me out.

So if you call 911 on the ToT.....it connects you directly to the ride operator? That's....odd?

I think it was the 911 operator, not the ride operator.

I am, however, glad to hear that the situation was worked out. It would have been bad to go through the drop sequence with her out like that. Very bad.

I have to believe that Disney has cameras watching the guests and that they would have caught this...

Okay I have a couple to re-add since I just got back.

1.) When we were leaving the Magic Kingdom, ALL the Monorails were packed, and I mean person to person. [People were rushing the doors when they opened but that is another complaint :)] and there was a lady who did not fold down her stroller, and it was a big stroller with one of those pull off carseats. Now, I can imagine how tired you are after being at the MK with a small child, but come on?!

2.) Those who don't do the Disney Shuffle. I am sure this was mentioned before, but we walked the 15 miles at 2 to the LMA show, and up the 50 stairs of bleachers and there was a lady sitting behind us who verbally refused to scoot down because the spot where she was had a little shade. The CM was trying to be so nice, but she was being a total beast about it!

That's about it other than what has already been mentioned...it wasn't bad overall on my trip, just those two stick out in my mind.

just to clarify. The 911 operator was asking me questions, I don't think she had dispatched anyone when the bell hop came. He was already on the way up when I started making the call. So, the dispatcher didn't notify anyone. I was just perfect timing. As for the cameras, got me there. I thought they would see her on camera, but we were in the main drop shaft so they may not have seen anything.

I don't have a specific annoying guest but a generalization instead.

The most annoying guests are those that you have to stand around in line that don't have the best hygenic practices, especially those who smell like the aftermath of too much taco bell.

I think it is safe to say that the majority of us people posting are with you phlydude

I recently heard a term which I rather liked. The term was "spineless mob mentality". Essentially, it refers to situations where people believe they are in the right simply because the majority of others feel the same way. In these situations, it's only a very small minority (maybe even one or two) who are actually thinking, or having an opinion of their own. The others are just following for fear of being ostracized by the others (hence, the "spineless" part of the term).

I believe your post, which you probably think is some sort of proof that Phlydude was in the right, only serves to support the theory that spineless mob mentality exists...even on discussion forums.

It's abundantly clear that your post was written under the false pretense of educating me on my limited understanding of grammar and communication. However, your use of grammar and spelling shows that you are probably not the most qualified person to be in a position to do that.

For example, your explanation of the use of quotation marks, while not innacurate, shows that you have taken something I've said out of context in order to support your point. As I mentioned to another member in response to their post, if you have to do that, it only shows that my position is stronger than you're making it out to seem.

If you read this thread in it's entirety, you'll see that the context in which the quotes were used DID, in fact, imply that the person was quoting me. If that was not his/her intention, then that person should work on improving his/her written communication skills. You also mentioned something about "implied smiles"....huh?? What the heck are IMPLIED smiles??? How long did it take you to make THAT one up??

Having said that, let's now take a look at YOUR grammar, shall we? For starters, your second paragraph makes no sense. What exactly are you trying to say? Secondly, it is spelled l-o-s-e-r, not l-u-z-e-r.

So, you were IN the main drop shaft...and this lady thought she was going to get OUT of the elevator? I can understand the shock and panic setting in, as I am also very claustrophobic, but hopefully logic would play a part...I guess not. I also thought that the seatbelt latches locked once you were dispatched - am I wrong?

So, I'm curious - how did they evacuate you? That seems like a pretty major feat once the elevator is in the final drop shaft, unless they raised it and backed it into the "5th Dimension" scene. I'm not doubting you at all, please understand - I'm honestly interested in how they evac in the final shaft. :)

I am sure you have all had the usually people running past you and nearly knocking you down. Or, if it was extremely crowded, like after Wishes, people push you from behind as if you had a choice on where to go and you were walking slow on purpose. That really annoys me. I think some people, not all, forget their manners on vacations!

I also was in Muppets at the Sudios and a kid around 4 was throwing a major fit. I mean it was very loud. The mom and dad didn't really do anything about it. Everyone was staring at them and my thought was..."take the kid out of here." Well, finally the grandma took him out. I just think it's a shame that some parents can't figure out that there are other people who want to enjoy the park, and if they need to take their kid away because their making a scene, they need to do that. It would be rude not to. Kids are kids and get tired and cranky, they are only kids, and I think it is up to the parents to make sure that it doesn't get out of hand.

Sorry! I didn't mean to get on a soap box, but those things really put a damper on your experience. Although, I haven't let them stop me yet! :)
