Annoying guests on vacation...Do you say something?

When I took my daughter's girl scout troop to WDW a few years back a big group of Basketball players tried to jump the fast pass line at Soarin right before closing. The CM was trying to get them to stop and at one point they knocked down one of the girls....well, let me tell you that was all it took and then there was a little vigilante group of 9 & 10 yr old girls who were really mad at those guys for 'breaking the rules and knocking over a girl'

By the time the adults (breathless) caught up with them the girls had explained to the CM's at the front of the ride what happened and the whole group got booted out of the park.

I don't generally let even the smokers bother me. But people who push, shove and otherwise force themselves on you 5 minutes before parade time may face the wrath of my husband.

Look I'm not calling you a liar but I have an extremely hard time believing that there wasn't more to it than just that. There is NO WAY that they fired you JUST because you asked someone to please not smoke in a no smoking area, that doesn't add up at all.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I think someone is playing a victim. There's definitely more to the story than simply what the poster has told us.

Things that make you go mmmmmmmmm. Its like a Robert Louis Stevenson charcter. But I digress.

back to Gorjus, tough time to lose a gig, regardless of cause. but maybe you should have used less voltage when you tazered the guy for sparking up. :animwink: Still arent Universal hiring, Disney are so last year as an employer.

Sounds like it to me. Not arguing though.

See I am grateful for the no smoking area's as I am allergic to cigarette smoke. I don't have asthma, but my body just has a horrible reaction to something within the smoke. + :hurl: = :dazzle:

It doesn't really matter if you believe me. The point of the post wasn't about me. My point was that there are reasons that CMs let guests get away with things. Often it doesn't pay to put forth the extra effort.

I don't get too upset at people's rude behavior. I come to expect it. In my view 10% of the population are a-Wholes and 1 in a 3000 is the real deal.

Working in retail for 20 years, I have been on the wrong side of meetings with the real deal a few times (mostly cause a co-wroker didn't spot them). You have to be on the lookout for them. Like a hornets nest.

I think at a WDW park there are about 5 walking around at any given time.

For the stoppers-in-the-middle-of-the-rowers, I just roughly shove past them, fake trip over them, and act like it's the biggest hassle in the world to get around them.

:lookaroun

Hehe, Laura, so evil. ;)

I generally mind my own business and just ocassionally give dirty looks to most behavior as I walk away, but I had an instance like Laura mentioned above where I was in Philharmagic and it was really crowded. It was definitely going to be a full house. A family just plopped down straight in the middle and ignored all the CM warnings, Goofy, etc.

So I stood there, cupped my hands around my mouth, and projected straight to them, "Please move all the way down!". Well, you never saw such startled people in your life. They didn't even look to see who said it, they immediately stood up and moved down looking extremely embarassed. After they saw it was another guest but still shrunk down in their seats.

Got some applause for that one. :) Normally, though, I just let the stuff go - I have way too much to do when I am at WDW than worry about the bad apples.

I have no problem believing him whatsoever - it's pretty easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as an employee in the customer service business.

I do think, however, that ya'll seem to enjoy pot stirring.... new + nothing relevant or productive to say = welcome to the ignore list

Say your waiting in line and all of a sudden a group of people come through the Fast-Pass isle and jump in front of you to be with their group.

Or you come across the Disney know it all and everything the guy says is a steaming pile of dung and you just want him to shut up.

Do you, while on vacation, say something to these people bringing unneeded stress while at the Happiest Place On Earth?

Now there are hundreds of way for people to get on your nerves, I usually don't let it bother me, but sometimes, I just feel the need to straighten people out.

An example, I was waiting in line at Rock N Rollercoaster, when some guy got an idea to light up a cigarette. A woman asked him very nicely to put it out, to which he called her a name and told her to mind her own business, but not in those words. I went over, took the cigarette out of his mouth and broke it in his face, and asked him to not smoke, to which the little coward said ok. I got an ovation from the line.

Other than that, and an idiot not moving down the seats at Philharmagic, thats about all I can come up with that strikes me.

What do you do?

That's great I love the story about the Smoker. Good for you!

What I can't stand is when you get on an attraction and you have a group of people behind you that is loudly talking, if they are whispering I can take that but in this instance they were just under shouting, it was the first trip we took our kids to Disney and I wanted them to be able to experience and hear the ACTUAL audio to the attraction in this case POC.

I swung around and gave them the Stink Eye and explained to them that it would be enjoyable for all who are riding for the first time to hear the atttraction and experience it they way it was inteded and they shut up.

I love that term "stink eye" :ROFLOL:, thanks for the chuckle!
