Annoying change at Space Mountain

Have you ever been waiting in line for TT to hear the same spiel over and over again about how TT works? My point is that you hear rotating recorded voiceovers in multiple attractions. Nothing new about that.
I think the idea here is that we all expect to hear them, even over and over again, just not with only 10 seconds of silence between each announcement.

Hoping this is just something setup wrong or accidentally overlooked. The new tighter trim brakes has also really lowered my love for Space Mountain.

I would say Peter Pan's Flight at WDW. Space Mountain is overrated as well but since it is a roller coaster-type ride, it does stand the test of time much better than Peter Pan's Flight. Although I do like the nostalgia Peter Pan's Flight brings, I feel this needs to be completely overhauled and made into an attraction similar to either Soarin' or the Harry Potter Ride. It just feels too outdated at this point even though I understand the nostalgic/sentimental value of the ride may result in an outcry from long-time visitors. The updated queue is not enough to justify the 2+ hour wait time for this ride.

Peter Pan's Flight just needs to be brought up to the same standard as the Disneyland version. Period.

It needs cleaning, animatronic updates and digital projection effects to bring it into the 21st century.

I don't think it's a ridiculous statement to say that all of Tomorrowland could be demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. These are the last times any "improvements" were made on the roster of attractions in Tomorrowland:
Buzz Lightyear - 1998
Carousel of Progress - 1993
Monster's Inc Laugh Floor - 2007
Tomorrowland Speedway - 1971
Stitch's Great Escape - 2004
Space Mountain - 2009
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover - 2009

I like the idea of a steampunk/Jules Verne look to Tomorrowland. Call on the past to look towards the future.

Lawyers.

It has always played non-stop outside the entrance, but they added it up until the end of the star corridor for "safety."
I am beginning to dislike lawyers and the clients they represent more and more ... we now have parents suing cities over injuries to their children when they get hurt sledding ... never mind that in most cases their kids were trespassing in the first place ... but seriously people? Sledding? It is so bad now that a lot of cities are banning it ... frivolous lawsuits in the US are getting way out of control.

Agreed that digital projections is a must for any type of overhaul for Peter Pan's Flight as this will allow more scenes/settings for the limited amount of space for this attraction, which is why I believe a Forbidden Journey Ride-esque update will be perfect for Peter Pan (mix of digital and audio-animitronics). But then again, this will probably require a pretty hefty budget to accomplish.

And this is what bugs the hell outta me. We as a society keep getting weaker & weaker...all in the name of "safety". Not just in theme parks alone, but in so many other aspects.

By 2030 when we enter the park they'll hand us a pacifier & place us in a large padded bubble. Safety first!

To be honest, with all the lawsuits these parks face on a yearly basis, I cannot really blame them for taking every precaution available to cover their backsides. You would be surprised at some of the cases that are brought to court by people.

Aside from it being dated to the 1970s and not in a nostalgic kind of way anymore, I prefer WDW's Peter Pan to Disneyland's, truthfully. They do have the better exterior and some upgrades, but isn't WDW's actually laid out a bit better? And we did get the new queue.

A rundown of my reaction from my October trip:

-Walks into SM looking forward to the star tunnel music.-

-Hears the first few notes of music. Thinks to self: "Ahhh, it's so nice to hea..."

ATTENTION SPACE MOUNTAIN PASSENGERS! SPACE MOUNTAIN IS A THRILLING...

-Stumbles a bit. Makes a face. "What the fudge is this???"

FOR YOUR SAFETY, YOU SHOULD BE IN GOOD HEALTH...

-"Seriously??? What idiot thought this was a good idea??? You couldn't ruin the star tunnel more if you physically removed the star windows!"

BE SURE TO SUPERVISE CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES...

-"Shut up!!!!"

THANK YOU, AND ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT!

-"Well at least she's finally gone away..."

(7 seconds later) ATTENTION SPACE MOUNTAIN PASSENGERS! SPACE MOUNTAIN IS A THRILLING...

-Makes another face. "It REPEATS???"

...EXPECTANT MOTHER SHOULD NOT RIDE, AND PASSENGERS WHO DO NOT...

"ARGHHHHH!!!!!"

I actually agree with you there. While i'm sure a number of people wouldn't agree with me on this and I mean no offense to purists, I would be rather giddy to have some sort of new version of Tomorrowland with a steampunk Jules Verne/HG Wells design. The current Tomorrowland is so far off from the original and just doesn't cut it anyways, it would be a massive improvement over the generally poorly maintained, corny and toonified form it's in now. Steampunk has always been an endlessly cool and creative thing for me personally. Dreamfinder and his flying machine are somewhat steampunk in nature in fact and i've always been a fan of the original Imagination. And i'm a big fan of the dragon float in Festival of Fantasy.

In my humble opinion, EPCOT's Future World (and by Future World, I mean its original 1982 to the early-mid 90's form, not the current mess it is now) fulfills the purpose as WDW's Tomorrowland. Horizons was for instance basically a "sequel" of sorts to Carousel of Progress. I don't wish to anger anyone who may disagree, but i've got to say that a proper EPCOT Center makes the classic vision of Tomorrowland somewhat superfluous. So IMHO I would say let EPCOT function as WDW's future based center, Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland can be something new and different. I do at least imagine a lot of people would agree Tomorrowland in its current form needs major help.

Not that i'm advocating major cloning and rehashing of rides elsewhere, but imagineers have already come up with a lot of cool ideas elsewhere as well as never completed blue sky projects. Discoveryland in Paris as well as Disneysea of course already have a lot of these elements. Time Keeper of course having been cloned. The canceled Discovery Bay project had steampunk elements as well. There's plenty of ideas (used and unused) to work with.

They're awful.

They were introduced last year and removed the one small thrill the poor ride had left.
I've been on the Disneyland version of Space more than the WDW version, so I'm a little unsure of where the new brakes are and what they do to the experience... can you explain?

I haven't ridden Space Mountain since the brakes were added but it has been stated on these forums that they were added to put less strain on the track and structure. Cheapskates running the company canceled the desperately needed track replacement intended for the 2009 refurbishment, so the ride is basically in very poor condition as a result.

Don't know where the brakes are, but logical guesses would indicate the drops at least, perhaps the turns.
