I like the idea, would be cool if it’s a small dark ride that explores the many adventures of marry poppins. But, an indoor carousel would be cool also.
An indoor carousel doesn't sound like something Disney would build in my opinion and seems unrealistic with the amount of space they are working with in my opinion. With the supposed huge amount of money they are spending on Epcot a small busbar dark ride shouldn't be too hard to add.

Maybe... but it looks like they are bringing an area with whimsical charm that multiple generations will enjoy. I like the concept.
So small Dark ride, carousel, tales with poppins. It’s all good

Dude...don’t get me started.

This slate of announcements today is exactly what should be expected if you look at the economic climate and recent history...we should not have expected anything more.

I actually like the poppins thing...but the movie last year was a near flop...so it’s curious then went forward with it?
they had to. Like it or not they had to respond IMO to Uni, and updating EPCOT was their play. I like the look of the new core, I even can live with Moana, I am hoping this is really a dark ride, but have not read all the way through yet.

I find it interesting no Brazil, and may have to concede you are right and there won't be any new Pavilions in that area.

This is a fairly decent strategy explanation for some leaving out key projects or scope information in presentation. They would get more blowback for overcommitting and scaling back then if they wait and had guessed wrong about a downturn. They could always "delight" fans by announcing new stuff outside of D23 or save it for the next one.

I have some more casual fans in the family that did not really understand my disappointment/complaints as we watched the live stream. We get a concentrated dose of rumors on the forums that the rest of the world does not.

We could hope

...but much to most here’s chagrin...I won’t hold my breath on it😉

And rumors are just that...only the shovels can be trusted

You need all types of rides in a park. Don't discount what a carousel can mean to a three year old and her family.

But they really didn’t “respond”...everything announced was almost foregone conclusions. When the Moana water “thing” and a low budget Mary land is your big reveal...that’s weak compared to Comcast crossing I-4 to develop.

And may have to concede? May???

It’s been 31 years...eventually a “duster” will concede/look deeper as to why? (Not you) instead of chasing nonsense from CMs and junior PR people or imagineers.

Ah, here is where you always have your issue, you look ONLY with tunnel vision.
EPCOT response was NOT just Moana and Mary....
It is and will be:
Updated SSE
GotG
WoL playland
Updated Mission Space
Space restaurant
Moana water feature
Updated entrance and just as importantly updated core
new films in two pavilions
Rat in France
Mary in UK
and and updated evening fireworks and light show.

When you look at the Big picture the park has had a major upheavel.

Now does that equate to a new gate for Uni. No. Never said it did. But there was no way on God's green earth Disney would announce and start building another Gate in FL. Not unless they see a huge significant drop in attendance due to Uni.

Instead they have done what has needed to be done for a good long time -
Add to MK with Tron,
Add to DHS with Star Wars and Toy Story - and redid GMR with Micky
Add to AK with Pandora
and now address the largest need - updating EPCOT.

I feel for those who truly loved what EPCOT was, and I celebrate with some for what EPCOT could be.

but could they have REALLY spiked Uni's wheel with Brazil, maybe one other Pavilion and an updated Imagination. Yes.

But it IS a response

I don’t disagree with your reasoning here...

My “tunnel vision” is more towards the gap that a failure to announce a reinvest on a 2 year cycle does for the rollout/implementation of needed upgrades to all the parks.

It’s not just Epcot...now if they follow the pattern (we are complicit) that ONLY d23 is the stage for park announcements...we now are looking at 2024 or beyond for anything significant.

That is YUGE.

Epcot is getting “reworked”...but it’s still basically replacing what’s been previously closed in futureworld and adding rat and a poppins “thing”

That’s not a lot of net adds considering what’s gone down since 2000.

But who said Epcot is what I was talking about? How about DAK? One Cameron ride doesn’t fix the lag there.

And how about studios? People are going to be surprised at how the “new DHS” this time next year gobbles up as much time as the “old mgm”

Capacity is still lagging and they just kicked the can.

I don’t always agree with the way you say things, but your point here is 100% spot on.

I think this context is needed about why the audience didn't seem as miserable.

DLR fared better than expected with the long overdue announcement of the Marvel E-ticket and lots of detail on Avengers Campus, Runaway Railway and the new Parade.

WDW definitely got the short end of the stick this time. Far more time was spent on Cirque and hotels than anything for MK, DHS or AK (which was almost nothing).
