For me the whole Poppins fit/not fit controversy comes done to this: When you come off an attraction in the WS you should have a deeper understand of the culture/architecture of the nation. Brave unfortunately fits the bill. Yes it is a toonifyed version of medieval Scotland. But we get some basics on architecture, language, lore/legend and culture. Poppins in my opinion not so much. You get a glimpse of life in Edwardian London but could really be any City in Europe during that time. Granted my memory of the film is chimney sweeping and a magical nanny with a flying umbrella. Is there something distinctly UK I am missing.
The film includes a particularly odious portrayal of British Bankers... I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Totally agree with this! There is so much more to the UK than London-like streets that Poppins would fit in. Scotland IS part of the UK and is under represented (don't even get me started on the idea of bringing Ireland into it?! The Guinness inclusion annoys me enough). If you like Brave or not, I think it would be great to see something British included that isn't just London based.

Edit: apologies, don't seem to have learned how to quote yet ha!

I’m not holding my breath for an announcement, but it seems they would need to get to work kind of soon. Has anyone highlighted on a map where this attraction is going to be located?

I am currently sans-RX-7 at this point, but I have owned many (79, 85, two 86's, 91 and 94 model years). Now waiting on the next version as long as it doesn't have 4 doors. Waiting for Mazda to announce their next rotary powered vehicle is like this waiting on someone in this thread to break the ice on what this new ride is...

My high school graduation gift was a brand new 1982 RX-7. Still my favorite car I ever owned.

Absolutely. There's quite a few on here that said Avatar didn't have the following to carry a land... and here we are.
The overall success of the land is still up for debate.
As far as everyone complaining about it not being Mary or Brave not fitting, or Mary being a great fit (Spoiler Alert: It's not), how things fit and work is incredibly subjective. In my honest opinion, Brave (still not confirming or denying) would be just as good of a fit for the UK as Mary is if not better. Brave is based on Celtic bear mythology, for that of which there is a plenty. Many Celts worshipped bear gods and goddesses, such as Artio, and many other things.
(More in depth description: http://www.mythphile.com/2012/06/brave-the-bear-and-the-bow/)
But, even then (full rant buried somewhere else in this thread), Mary is about as good of a fit as the Three Caballeros are in Mexico, if not slightly worse. Not trying to say Brave is the golden IP for the UK (Sword in the Stone), but it is a more ideal one from a cultural standpoint. I know there may be many that will jump down my throat for the statement, but don't let your lifelong desire for Mary Poppins (that I subscribe to as well), blind yourself that Brave is a fine fit, but as to whether or not it will be in the UK Pavillion... No comment.

PS: The proposal will be fun and enjoyable and serve its purpose. Don't expect too much.
I think using Brave, (a California story about feminism set in Scotland) is acceptable seeing as that there are no actual competent authors from the UK.

So my wild guess is it is the TSMM ride system, but this time with cross bows. And it'll be called something like The Highland Games. How'd I do @marni?

It will be really cool to see a big bear on the loose in a classic dark ride. People are complaining about the movie and how Brave wasn't a really compelling character, and all that, but this is going to be a ride, not a movie. In the 1990's, how many guests would remember who Mr.Toad or Brer Rabbit are? Not a good deal of them. I think the atmosphere of Scottish art and knots and bows and all that, with the Will-o-the-Wisps and funny little boys could be done in very fun effects and theming and that matters more in a ride than the IP it's based on. Anything to detract from the miles-long line for the GotG coaster is a win anyway.

It really needs to be a ride dedicated to the great works of literature written during the height of British modernism! How fun would it be to ride through scenes from To the Light House, A Passage to India, or A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, maybe even Lady Chatterley's Lover just to name a few :p
Or a Regency period ride that is a romp through Jane Austin's literary world....Hosted by Emma Thompson...lol

There have been at least THREE Disney versions of it. Treasure Island, Muppet Treasure Island, and Treasure Planet. I also seem to recall a Disney Channel original movie called "Return to Treasure Island".

Never has there been a company who so assiduously lobbies for perpetual copyright, who, at the same time, has so assiduously plundered lapsed copyrights.
