This was my fav movie when i was young and loved the ride, was sad to see it fall in disrepair and fade away. Was going to take the girlfriend to one day of Universal during a Disney trip to experience this but I am not going to see the Simpson ride!!!

I had kinda felt the same way, but I gave the ride a shot, and thought it was a lot of fun! I'm not even a Simpsons fan. Even better, it's clear that they loved Back to the Future... The Ride as there are references in the queue video (a cameo by Doc Brown voiced by Christopher Lloyd explaining the fate of the Institute of Future Technology) and on the ride itself.

I'm a fan of both, though I hadn't even seen BTTF before my trip in 2007 (it was a quickly-building obsession :lookaroun) and I haven't been down since the Simpsons took up residence.
