animatronics in the bushes!

I always thought it would be wonderful if disney would add some weather bearing animatronics to their landscape, like maybe adding bambi and thumper animatronics somewhere in a lush green area of the mk by the castle to make it look like theyre just hanging around, or adding some dinosaurs around the dinosaur building in ak,I just wanted to know your thoughts on this (not sure if disney can even make animatronics that can stand up to the weird florida weather, but for the sake of the argument lets just say they can) where would you like to see some animatronics? what would you like to see them doing? and besides there really being no reason to spend the money on just free standing animatronics, do you think it would add to the natural charm of the parks? especially mk?

......please people, lets not fight about anything on this thread. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we should also demonstrate some respect toward each other, therefore if you think your gonna type something mean to someone, dont waste your time:)

I think it would be pretty neat if they had the dino's like u said. And I think it would b pretty cool like if there was bambi and thumper like u said. Anyone else have any ideas?? I think we could get some really interesting ones on this site.

In respect to Bambi and Thumper, I think they'd be cool ideas... but I'm just not sure if I'd like them just stationary there all-day-round. I would love to see it at specific times of the day, with some breaks... kind of like Ariel at the Grotto.

Mine, mine, mine

Do the gulls outside of Seas count as at least a start for this idea? I saw that they were mostly working last week - one beak still not quite right - but I know that there have been some problems keeping them in good shape, and they are still quite new. If those are any example, I the concept is a good one - I, for one, find them very, very amusing.

I love the idea. True it would not be smart to have an animatronic outside all day and night because of weather issues, but what if at certain times of the day Bambi and Thumper came out of the bushes or side of the castle or building wherever they might be and did some things and then left again. I think that would be really sweet.

Yeah thats a good idea. You can bet you will see this happen within ten years.

They could easily overcome the weather thing. Just put the AA's on elevators that can move them up and down. If there is a hurricane coming then just flick a switch and the AA moves down below ground out of the wind. The MK could handle it since most of the park is on the second floor.

I like the idea as well but only to a certain extent. We don't want Disney to add too many animitronics outside of their attractions because then it cause the CM characters to lose their effect. I like that they have added sounds of dinosaurs in the bushes at AK, chipmunks in the houses outside of Splash and even Stitch's voice in the bathrooms. I think more things like that could be implemented all over the property, even at the resorts and bus stops.

The animatronics can be used outside with the correct type of skin on it. Universal has them outdoors all year on Jurrasic Park Ride and outside of it. I know that once a year they pull them to overhall them and are constantly repairing the skins.

One tiny problem: vandalism. All animatronics are somehow separated from guests, either by barriers or by having the guests in ride vehicles. Even the seagulls have a rocky moat between them and the guests at The Seas. Or, in the case of the Living Character Initiative AA's, they're guarded at all times by Cast Members while they're in show areas. Though I think this idea is very cool, there would have to be some way of ensuring that guests wouldn't be able to actually approach the AA's.

well i wasnt really thinking about the characters that are out now, i was thinking more of the characters you dont get to see in the parks, disney has a whole library of animal characters that dont really get that much attention at the parks, i mean there can be some fox and the hound animatronics, lion king, bambi like i said before,101 dalmations, lady and the tramp, oliver and company etc. they can all blend wonderfully into the mk landscape, and its not like they really have to be doing much, they just need to seem like theyre alive(having bambi drinking from a little pond, with thumper right next to her scratching his ear, or having simba on a rock letting out a roar every now and then) alot can be done with this, and imo it would make the park just that much more special

yea i definitly agree, they cant just be sitting within guest's reach, because there will be too many dumb ppl trying to touch it, i'm sure disney can figure out how to blend a barrier seamlessly tho, i mean they were able to do it with animal kingdom, and those are LIVE animals, so i'm sure they can figure out a way to put an animatronic into the landscape so that disrespectful guests cant touch them

Ewoks outside of Star Tours?

Rizzo Rat hanging out of the side of the Muppet Vision 4D building, possibly talking?

I donno...I've always thought about this type of thing though...Very Realistic chance this will happen more and more...We have already seen this with the gulls. And even though the animals in the Jungle Cruise are in the ride rather than outside, it proves to use this is no new technology and it can be done.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
We cant even get animatonics that work correctly in show buildings *cough* Splash Mountain*cough* Yeti in B mode often *cough* creepy bears in CBJ *cough* Dinosaur *cough*:lookaroun

I think they need to focus on those, first.
