Ok I don't belive it's a working anamation studio and the tour is not so thrilling at least to me anymore. The drawing class is mildly amusing but besides that it's character meet n greet spot.

Do you think that itstime to put somthing new in this space and if so what could replace the it?

I love the Animation Studio Drawing class...but I agree that this building can be added to the list of buildings that used to serve a purpose but is now just wasted space.

I definitely think that some sort of ride the animation process could be pretty neat...focusing on the Fab 5 though because I think they need some more representation in the theme parks. DHS could use dark ride using an Omnimover type ride system... could be fun!

I was thinking that they could keep some of the animation stuff but also make part of it a movie studio to show how films are created and maybe bring in a replica or authentic animation camera that Walt invented. So esentially it could be transformed into a movie studio tour.

Or we could just refurb the entire thing and get a really impressive animation (with stunning lobby) building like the one at California Adventure. :lookaroun

The building won't go anywhere, to many offices are held in there. But maybe after this clearing out of management is done...there could be some room.

Besides the tour being my one major problem with it us that Disney doesn't do much actual animating any more it's all computer generated Pixar stuff

The great thing about the animation attraction is it gives you an opportunity to relax. There are not a lot of people inside so you can kind of go at your own pace. Personally, we love the character drawing class so we go inside often. The tour is past its prime, but we go in through the art store and go right to the drawing class. As the years go on and Pixar becomes the more dominant product I would hope that they would do more with computer animation.

They should take the whole "Animation tour" to a whole new level. Instead of watching people draw, it should be a ride where you go through a tour watching animatronics "filming" Mickey Mouse cartoons :D
and what did you mean by "Actual animation?" *gets his defending CGI face on*

Hand drawn not assisted by a computer.

Some movies that are cel animated are also done with Assisted Computer Graphics (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan, The Great Mouse Detective) are some that come to mind. Now that said, fix the attraction to incorporate The Princess and the Frog, and do a joint comparison where you can see both ways of work and how the other helps. That would be good.

Everything after The Little Mermaid involved computers. That was the last film to have hand painted cels. I'm sure even before that they were scanning drawings in for screen testing.

I'd like the building to be returned to a working animation studio like it was during the mid to late 90s boom. 2D or 3D-doesn't matter, just get some working animators in there! (And the computer animators are real animators too, some of them are even ex-2Ders who worked for many of the big hits like The Lion King.) But I don't know if Disney will ever build up numbers like that again for their features (in the US).

Here is what I want to happen: I want Disney to put in an attraction called something like Pixar Studios behind the scenes. I would love to be able to walk through a studio where they were actually using the computers and programs that they use at Pixar. The process fascinates me how they can get animation that looks like that from a computer. They could move maybe a branch of the studio to Florida. That would be a dream come true for me.
