So I think they are on to us, I was trying to get through it this past weekend and they are throwing down tree branchs and other things. It was unpassable just after the start of it, also it looks like the falls were off so the water was not there.

Funny thing is that Pal Mickey still says this when you approach the smoking section (and I paraphrase) : "Hey pal, I heard from the island locals that there's a secret path around here somewhere! Look high and low and maybe we can find it! Let's go!" I think that if you find it or go in it's general direction (I never tried it, just went around it) he says "Wow! Looks like you found it!". Then I think he explains some animals...? I'm not even sure if there are animals there!

I don't remember that. I have had pal Mickey in the path and he hasn't said anything. What version or what year did you buy your PM?

That stinks! instead of the machete I will bring a chain saw!:lookaroun Seriously, it is the end of the path. Soon it will be so overgrown and cluttered it will be completely forgotten.

I can remember when the entrance to It's Tough To Be a Bug was on the same route that goes to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride.

Then they changed it and put the entrance over on the other side of the Tree of Life.

The path may be a relic from the previous route.

Not even close. The path you are talking about is on Discovery Island. This path is off the main walkway between Asia ans Africa near Flights of Wonder.

I hope they don't close of the path, i am definately going to look for it on my next trip ....

i was there last weekend and the path is still passable although it is covered with lots of bamboo. the water is back on though.

I meant to find this thread and post that I walked the path ith my sister for the first time this past vacation, on Oct 25th, to be exact. I'm the one that found it, then she was the one who lead the way. We had fun and it was really neat. But no camera was with us so no pictures were taken. We crossed two streams, or maybe it was one stream twice crossed at separate parts, not sure.

And we did see that random chair there near the bamboo.

The point of the path is,... AK was supposed to be designed this way with little off the beaten road paths, but this was the only one that was made. I don't think you can get in any trouble, because it is clearly visible on the AK park map (check the first post in this thread) :wave:

We went on the path in April and it's still pretty easy to get through. It wasn't really "blocked off" per se but rather just a few of the shrubs around the area haven't been trimmed. I don't think you can get in trouble as it was a planned guest path and there are no signs stating to stay on the pavement. Here's the pic I took over the creek:
