Animal Kingdom Quick Service help

We will be going to WDW in Sept. 2007.
Since the Tusker House at AK will be changing from a quick service during our stay, what resturant would you recommend instead?
I though about eating at the Rain Forest Cafe' right outside the park for lunch.
I checked the menus for all of the other QS restaurants at AK & there is nothing that my kids would like & I don't want to go to Restaurantosaurus for McDonald's food for lunch.
We went to the character breakfast there last year - we liked it - but we are trying 'Ohana's Best Friends at the Polynesian this year.
Would the Rain Forest Cafe' be a good lunch choice or is there another good eatery in the AK park?:veryconfu

I don't know if you have the free food plan but Rainforest isn't part of the restaurants that are included in the plan. If it doesn't matter, than go for it!

I'm not sure that is true - we ate there last Saturday and they asked us if we had the dining plan when we ordered. RFC is not one of our favorites - the service is quite slow, and it's too noisy there for me. We like the Flame Tree for lunch at AK - food is good, and there is lots of outdoor seating.

Pizzafari has pizza (not on the kids menu... stupid, yes). It's something like $5.50 for a cheese pizza, and they also have yummy garlic breadsticks. The kids meals there stink, but you have the option of getting them "adult" food like pizza, breadsticks, sandwiches, etc.

Our last visit to RFC at AK was so bad we won't ever bother going back...poor food quality, long wait for service etc. We also have had great luck with Flame Tree.

Flame tree for me too! Great pulled pork sandwich and the onion rings are amazing. Though, I'm sad they replaced the corn on the cob with corn muffins.

YUK, YUK, YUK to RFC. We went to eat there the last time we were at AK, with a reservation at 6:15, for immediately after the park closed, the food was way to expensive and not good at all. The service was sooooo slow that by the time we got out of there, all the buses were through running and we had to call our hotel to see what we could do. They sent a bus to come pick us up! Thank goodness that they did. PS:this was the All Star Movie VALUE RESORT, now that is what I call MAGICAL service!

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone else think the turkey legs are too damn salty?

I'll admit they've got a nice taste to them, but then that saltiness kicks in. After a few bites I'm thirstier than I would be after eating the hottest buffalo wings on the planet. I can't eat 'em because I need to drink at least a liter of water afterwards, and then I'm bloated like Violet Baeuregard (Sp?) after eating the gum that contains an entire meal, and I have to be rolled out by Oompa-Loompas...

What did you order?
We ate at the RFC at DTD last summer & it was great.
