I keep reading everywhere that Animal Kingdom is a park where you get through it in less than one day. The Unofficial Guide even stated that you can get through the park by 2pm.

In people's experiences on here is this true?

Not for me. I get there at opening and try to linger past closing time.
I like to do Flights of Wonder, Safari, Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur, Nemo the Musical, and both Treks as far as usual attractions.
I also love the Oasis. So many cool animals in there.

I also like to to Rafiki's Planet Watch. They have a lot of really knowledgeable CMs there and they have cool things like butterflies emerging from their cocoons, surgeries etc.

My wife and I find it very easy to spend a whole day at DAK. You just have to take your time and enjoy everything that the park has to offer.

Very very easy to spend the day there..

I will be the one to say it - because for many people it is true - not everyone, but many. If you are a slow mover, or are fascinated at staring at sleeping animals, bird watching, or completely mesmorized by foliage, you will spend a day there. Or if you are making a serious effort to do absolutely every single show and attraction in the park.

If you have been to AK more than a few times, more often than not, you know what you are truly entertained by and what you can bypass - this is when the park starts to become a half day park.

If you have the extra dollars in your budget, I highly recommend taking the "Backstage Safari" tour. Very neat experience and it will help to fill up your day @ DAK.

It shouldn't have to cost $28000 to have an adventurous time seeing animals.

'And for just $200 a person extra, you can do the MK Trek, where you get to actually ride a coaster and see Mickey up close....'

I remember the "controversy" of real animals @ DAK vs. the animatronics at MK. I have yet to "explore " the Jungle Trek and such, so this year, we will be doing that!:)

We just got back from WDW. We were there for 11 days. You know how long we spent at AK? 2.5 Hours. That was just to ride the rides. Then we left. We are not fans of Animal Kingdom. It is a big zoo and I can go to one out here in Chicago!

You've missed one of the best parts. Make sure and go see the bats. All the times I've been in the room to look at the bats, I didn't realize there is no glass in the windows. The cm said that the bats are too big to get through the opening, so they left those areas open. These are the biggest bats you'll every see, and they are not nocturnal.
They are outside in the bright, hot sun. The tigers are right up at the glass in one area.

No , You cannot see it all in one day! Conservation station is a whole 1 hr adventure at the least , then Gorilla trails ,meerkats and other special mammals etc is atleast another full hour , The lion King show ,waiting seating is another hour . Nemo show is about 45 min with wait time included, your at half a day already !

Animal Kingdom can indeed be done in less than a day. And this is only because you get just as much out of the park by viewing pictures online as you do actually visiting.

Ive been several times and its always a full day. Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo are as good as any broadway play. I love all the rides and attractions, walking the grounds and meeting the characters at Camp Mickey?? Also watching the parade. We're always pushing for time to get to Rainforest Cafe for dinner at the park when it closes.

If you want to do a lot or all the stuff at AK then it is at least a day or more. We don't like to do a whole lot there, just really Tough to Be a Bug, Everest, and sometimes Dinorsaur or the Safari. So we are usually out of there by noon.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I'm in the 1/2 day camp.
Get there early and get out by 1:00, before the humidity becomes unbearable.
Admittedly we don't generally watch any shows, although we do visit the trails. Now that the kids are too old to hang out in the boneyard, we are out before lunch.
There is, however, great shopping to be had at AK.
Other than the safari, Dinosaur and EE, much of the rest is meh, for us
