There are still some people who will never come to see DAK for the beauty it is. It really is Disney's best, I feel sorry for people who see otherwise. But, I can empathize with them since I used to be one those 'DAK is so boring" folks ;)
It is crazy to think that the same exact company that leaves Epcot and Hollywood Studios in the shape they are in, is the company that made Animal Kingdom.

I'm relatively new around here, so apologies if this is old hat.

Thanks for posting. I've done Extra Magic Hours evenings several times at night, and despite the few offerings, walking around that park at night is probably my favorite place to be of all theme parks...beautiful lighting, serene and peaceful. I can't wait to be able to spend later evenings there, even if there are more people lol

No, your not crazy. I fully back you up on that statement.

Completely agree.... My summer working at Disney left me amazed by Animal Kingdom. It may likely be one of my favorite parks outside of the Disneyland Resort.

I kept thinking, this must be what Disney Sea is like... The themeing is incredible... Kilimanjaro Safari is nothing like i've ever done before. I adore that attraction, the sheer scope. I adore thep ark. Festival of The Lion King.. Everest... Even Kali River Rapids despite being short and mostly broken, is gorgeous... the Animal Walks, the train... Tree of Life...

The only downfall to me is Dino-Land... or whatever... Dinosaur is a flawed ride, as is the entire carnival. Fix that area of the park, and I think it'll be the bee's knees.

I agree and can't wait for my trip in May but I am bracing for big night time crowds at AK this year and going forward. I think they have a major sleeper hit on their hands.

What is flawed about dinosaur?

In my opinion, the un-realistic dinosaur we are sent to pick up... the loading area is hideous, the ride has some terrible effects that are not realistic in the least. One of the dinosaurs is just a neck and head, it's body has gone missing and is replaced by some sort of star blanket.... It just does not look good. Yes, the movement is fun... but it needs a complete overhaul. IMO.

Most of the DinoLand in AK always made me feel like it wasnt there permanently: like it was something hastily made as a distraction while something was being built

Maybe if Zootopia makes enough money the Dinosaur ride can get a Maelstrom/Frozen treatment: keep the ride's bones but change the theming. Make it a police chase through all the different Zootopia environment or something

Then the theming works. Everything except dinosaur is a dig site and a roadside carnival. Dinosaur is the only permanent building.

Animal Kingdom is among the best examples of theme park design state side. Look at Harmbe, it feels like a real village, there is a history designed in, an aging, an uncanny realism. You feel transported somewhere else, only a few places in theme parks do that, it is on par with 1973 Adventure land and New Orleans Squares one of the most intricately and masterfully designed Disney theme park spaces.

Disney needs to Follow suit of Universal, (imagine that), and Green Light a Zootopia dark ride pronto!! Still very surprised Uni is building a SLoP attraction before even knowing if it will be a hit of not.
