And I Think to Myself....What a Wonderful World with Magic Friends

Found out today that they found a lump in my mom's breast. Not what I need when finals are next week. I'm so close to packing up and driving home right now. It's just three finals and it's just college. I really don't care. That news plus more drama in my house...it's really tempting me to go home. There's been a lot of problems in my house this year, but when someone tries to kick the other person in the face, you know it's bad.

This really confirms my decision to go back home. My family is the most important thing to me. I still need them, I still have a strong desire to be around them. I don't want to live in the same house anymore, but I do want to be able to see them when I want.

Other than that, things are well. Riding is absolutely wonderful. The weather has been crap for a while now and doesn't look to be getting better. Watch, we'll get warm weather the week of finals, when I'm stuck with studying. My friends who travelled with me to Aussie last summer are coming out to visit in June. I couldn't be happier. They want to go to DL...I can't wait to show them around.

((HUGS)) Nicole. You've gotten good advice here.
I just want to add that you are where you need to be right now. Hang in there, do what you have to, and soon it will be over and you'll be home.
Till then, we all love you and are always available to listen.
Love you so much.

I would appreciate any prayers you could send my family today. My parents were robbed about 6 a.m. this morning. 2 girls, approximately between the ages of 15-23 were involved. One suspect is in custody, one is still at large. No weapons were involved, but the suspect that was caught slapped my dad. :fork::fork::fork::fork::fork: A neighbor up the road was robbed as well; they cut the phone lines before coming to the door: they knew what they were doing, this was not their first time. My mother's credit cards/checkbook were recovered with the suspect, but they spent the morning closing their bank account and cancelling all their cards.

OMGosh, Jenn...what a world we live in. I'm just glad they didn't seriously hurt anyone. Still, I could imagine the outrage I'd feel if someone slapped my dad. So sorry for you all.

Thank you, Dot. Ab really needed to see for herself that Gma and Gpa were okay, so I ran her down there for about a half hour. They seem to be more back to themselves. My oldest brother and SIL brought their dogs up and took them out in the woods....didn't find Mom's purse, but was able to track the scent of the one they have in custody....my other brother was out there looking too. However, the folks have all new locks and were locking up after we walked out.

I have to wonder if this will be in tomorrow's paper, as I called up our carpet guy and told him where I was, and he said he heard what had happened on the radio. You know, when it happens to your family you just don't see it as 'news'. But I guess it is.

Anyway, I've done about two hours of driving total today, I'm exhausted. Thanks for everyone's good thoughts and prayers - love you all!:kiss:

Good morning all.

Nicole, I am sorry to hear about your mother, prayers are heading your way.

Jen, unbelievable what people do. The sad part about this is that someday someone is really going to need help and because of what these two idiots did, people are going to be skiddish to help the next person that knock so their door looking for help.
If they have one suspect, it wont take long to locate the other one. There is no honor amoung theives. Unfortunately, they will probably not get a huge slap on the hand, unless they have huge records. And yeah, that one girls hand would be MIA if she slapped my father. :fork:

Since losing my job, I applied for unemployment insurance, which was denied. According to New York State, I did not work this last year. Well, I am not sure who paid me, but I did work my hinnie off. What irks me is the hoops I have to jump through to get the benefits available to me. I also can't take another rejection letter stating I am over qualified or don't have enough experience. :brick:

PotteryGal, I'm sorry about your folks getting robbed. Getting robbed is not fun. My brother was robbed at gun point. They stole $5 and his IPhone, but he refused to give them his wallet. At least the police CAUGHT at least one suspect. I'm sure within a few days she'll rat out her partner.

This might be a good time to start a neighborhood watch. Since your parent's neighbors were robbed previously--and they cut the phone lines, that's a huge red flag since they've been scoping out the neighborhood and watching how your neighbors/parents schedule. Starting a neighborhood watch will help stop the robberies in the neighborhood.

long day at school here. Anastaisa was SO glad to be back.

I'm getting scared of this damn heat. If it's 85 on the 4th of May, what will July and August be like? :dazzle:
