Hey Amy, on your FB page, you have you, Em, Jack, the kitties, the doggie, and THREE guys drinking beer. Is Grant really all that bad?? :lookaroun

I wish I could give you a real hug right now.

It's enough to know that you want to!

Seriously, you guys...I hate death. I try to be a good Christian but this makes me so mad.

I don't suppose getting sloppy drunk will help but I'll try it anyway. Can't be worse than how I feel right now.

Crazy part is I knew something was wrong...we e-mail all day. And by 11 he hadn't e-mailed and so I texted and then I happened to glance at the FB status of another council member. The status did not give specifics but said they were in shock over the sad news. And then I knew it was my Buckman...my heart frigging dropped...I texted him again and called him and then I got an FB message from a friend of his asking me if I knew what was going on.

Then a little while after I got a call from his phone...it was his best friend calling to tell me what I already knew...but seeing his number come up on the screen. The craziest part is since I couldn't get in touch with anybody I actually called the bar he goes to on the weekends and made them tell me what was going on...that poor woman on the phone must have thought I was crazy. But she did tell me and she was very sweet and said she was sorry.

Sorry to ramble.

So I'm thinking for the funeral (in which I am a pall bearer, thank you very much, Mr. Buckman, I always thought you were kidding) i will wear the obligatory black dress, sensible heels and nice make up. But over it all I will wear my "big sweater". He gave it to me years ago, that thing is a sin before God, all unravelly and misshapen. But I always wear it on chilly days ("big sweater days") and he always loved to know I was wearing it.

What say you? Tacky? Or a tribute?

Go for it. Does it really matter what other people think? You're doing it for your friend. My uncle wore a giant Hawaiian shirt to his mother's funeral since it always made her smile. Nevermind that it was a giant bright orange shirt, and everyone else was wearing black. it made a lot of people smile and remember her.

I'm not a regular around here, but I saw the buzz on Amy's FB and figured there'd be some explanation in this thread.

Amy, I'll send some extra positive vibes your way. I'm hardly an authority on the topic, but FWIW, I don't think it makes you a bad Christian to hate death...it just makes you human.

I don't have anything profound to say, but I hope you have a good support system to help you get through. (I know you have a pretty good one right here.)

btw, new Eclipse trailer released today:

:)

That looks AWSOME!! I can't wait to see it

Went swimsuit shopping today for with the girls. OMG there is nothing on the racks. Unless you want the "Itsy Bitsy tinnie winnie polka dot bikini"

:ROFLOL::ROFLOL: It's so true

And thanks you guys for your nice FB messages. You all are really the best.

John was the best man I knew. He gave so much to everyone out of a truly generous spirit...he never expected anything in return. In his mind, money lent was money given. He was always there for everybody, he loved his country and his town and he served them both honorably. Doylestown is the poorer for his death...now those damn Democrats will run roughshod. ; )

HUGS Amy

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday :) ; finished painting the first coat of our master bedroom - it is drying beautifully, but I'm going stop for today and probably do a second coat tomorrow. Nice thing is if i drip a little bit on the carpet, I don't have to freak out, since it's being replaced anyway. :animwink: I seriously don't know how people can paint neatly, I am absolute mess by the time I'm done. Which means I really appreciated my shower.

Hello all!

greetings from Old Key West!

We actually had a rather restful travel day. don't know if it's because we've just done it so many times, or if it's Anastasia getting older, or if it's just put into perspective with our day-long flight to Vegas. but today was actually really nice!

We hit Walmart, then Anastasia was having a fit because we were AT Disney yet not going to the parks. "Let's go! go go go!" So we hit Epcot. Figment, Nemo and dinner in the Land. Now we're back to the room and I'm going to hit the big whirlpool bath. :sohappy:
