Trip Report And At Last I See the (rivers of) Light: A Much Too Short Trip Report *COMPLETED*

Hello Humans!

For those just joining, my name is Nicole. (Sorry if you were expecting Buddy Boil!) :p

I am just a wee bit toooooo obsessed with Disney World and all things Disney, but is there ever really too much of a good thing? I’m just one of “those people”. The kind that doesn’t understand the need to travel anywhere else on this planet besides Disney, the kind that has more Disney clothes than work attire, the kind that stalks cast members instagram profiles… but we’ll gloss over those more intimate details. :p

I just returned from an extremely short trip to the World. And although short, I still feel the pain. It’s like when someone loses a limb, such as an arm or a leg, and they say they can still feel it. That is exactly how I feel about the removal of my Mickey ears. I have phantom limb pain from taking off my Mickey ear headbands. The ears are off, and the pain real. You mean to tell me I can't wear my rose gold ears to go grocery shopping? What kind of world do we live in?

After throwing a temper tantrum on the ground to my fiancé, complaining he doesn’t love me because he’s dragging me to Hawaii for our honeymoon, I decided the more mature, adult way to deal with post Disney depression is to share my story with you fine people. So let’s begin.

Who: Myself and my Bestie (we went in 2013 and 2014 previously)

49378180014_zpsf7106299.jpg

Where: All Star Music (We nicknamed this trip the budget trip. No park hoppers, no dining reservations, no dining plan, carryon luggage only so we wouldn’t come home with a bazillion souvenirs. A budget in Disney… that didn’t work so well. You mean that green Mickey lighting up was racking up my credit card? WHO KNEW?! :)

When: Friday, January 19th to Tuesday January 23rd

Why: Why not? The best way to escape wedding planning is Disney planning! :p

Jan 19th
Our flight wasn’t until 7 PM out of Newark, New Jersey. I currently live right outside of Philadelphia with Joe, go Eagles :p but it was easier for me to get to Newark than my friend to get to Philly. And me flying alone is never a good idea. I once found myself in an airport closest. Yeah, no idea. I decided to work a half day instead of using a vacation day, because I’m trying to bank all my days for my honeymoon and secretly another Disney trip come fall. Don’t tell anyone. It can be our little secret. Hardy har har! ;);)

D35DFF1D-41BC-4689-9DAD-2B17DFBBBB9A_zpswzqvgktd.jpg

Did not sleep a wink the night before, not sure if it was the excitement, the nerves about my carryon being TSA compliant, or the fact that I was fighting off laryngitis. Ursula, take my legs but give me back my voice!!!!! Some people were too ecstatic I was speechless, cough JOE cough. I could not rub in his face that I WAS GOING TO DISNEY WORLD.

09037385-1176-4C0C-B8A4-77392357D6D5_zpsd8bjk3i3.jpg

Wore my little mermaid leggings to work because I am a child. I work for an orthodontic team and having all my patients ask me about going to Disney World just amped up my excitement level. My age category is definitely 8-12 because that is who I most relate too. HA!

Clocked out early and made my long trek to North Jersey. Got back in record time, must have been those pixie dust fumes in my gas tank. :p My friend’s brother was our designated Uber and I’m sure he kicked himself for offering to drive us two crazy loons.

Strapped on my magic band and admired the beauty of all that is Mickey’s outline. I love the new shape, didn’t think I would! It actually looks like a watch, IT’S MICKEY TIME.

On the ride there, we received a text message that our room was ready! Don’t judge me that I never deleted my 2016 room notification message.

My friend and I had been joking all week that we’d be put in country. NOT THE COUNTRY BOOT! And lo and behold, there we were. She called up Disney to see if they could switch us to jazz, we’d been practicing our jazz hands for months! The cast member laughed, and apologized that the resort was fully booked; we could maybe switch our room later on during the trip. TOO BAD OUR TRIP WAS SO SHORT. :(

A655C602-A5D5-4A21-BAC9-1D3766C55FE1_zpsybmczybb.jpg

Nothing screams Disney World more than a pair of country boots! Am I right?! :p

We got through security quickly and made our way to the gate. Upon arrival, our flight is delayed. From 7 PM to 8:30 PM. WHAT! Lose an hour and a half of Disney time!? I cannot deal.

The terminal was packed. There was not a seat to be found. We circled round and round, myself rolling my carryon like I’d had one too many drinks. It’s hard steering a suitcase! We were antsy and then it hit us. One little spark of inspiration. LET’S SEE IF THE EARLIER FLIGHT HAS ANY SEATS AVAILABLE.

Turns out, it did! And for a mere fee of $75.00 each, we could arrive in Disney at 8:30 PM. We went back and forth… if we got there early we could eat in the food court, we’d have more Disney time, we could get to sleep earlier and be less cranky for parking opening. Budget trip my behind.

30F3D1FD-FDB8-47BA-B11E-F3F6F934CA06_zpsudxj6i6x.jpg

We were soon on the plane, vowing to not tell a soul we paid $75 to arrive in Disney an hour and a half earlier. Whoops!

The flight attendants asked if we could be the heroes of the flight, and of course we obliged.

Throw the plane door out the window and save all the innocent lives on board? Ain’t no thing for Princess Nicole. Watch out Mr. Incredible. I’m coming for your costume.

Touched down in Orlando much earlier than expected… money comes and goes but Disney memories are forever. That’s what I keep telling myself at least!

The Magical Express area was dead, and we hoped we didn’t just miss the bus. Turns out the bus was waiting right outside for our arrival. What great service! I don’t know if I credit this to the fact that I’m now a hero? Hopped aboard that big beautiful red beauty of transportation and prepared myself for my ride back home. The butterflies were fluttering about in my stomach, I could not stop giggling, and I felt it deep down to my core that I was back in my happy place. You know that warm fuzzy feeling of being on property? That moment where you know your trip to come is filled with endless possibilities? Don't ever take waiting in the Magical Express line for granted!

Would our room be the very last room in the very back of our resort? Did they separate us from the general public on purpose because we are certifiably insane? Would my jazz hands feel betrayed about nothing getting their moment to shine?

My alarm went off earlier than it does on a work day; the only difference was that I did not want to chuck it across the room. We got up and started to get ready; this morning we had a very important date! We were having breakfast with royalty! It was still dark outside, but that would not stop us! Prized rose gold ears atop our heads, today was going to be magical!

First full day! Wahoo day 1! Thought it’d be cute to take a selfie for each day, too bad I forgot my idea by day 2.

Tried to find a place to set my phone for self-timer photos, don’t know why I decided resting on the coat rack way above eye level would produce quality images. Nicole taking quality photos, never going to happen!

We were ready in no time and made our much shorter than expected journey to the bus stop. Jazz hands-ed our way through the jazz section. You just can’t have Disney movies without jazz music. Or something like that. :p

FC7FF7E1-C1E1-4696-B6CA-2B8E459CEB1E_zpsvecpxiss.jpg

Our wait and ride were both short, and for this I was thankful! The horns were soon blaring in my ears and I knew I was at my kingdom! DUN DUN DUN! We rushed off the bus, and tried to find out where to go for guests with breakfast reservations. My friend and I are both pretty blind, or oblivious, or both, so we missed the sign telling us where to line up. We scanned our bands and went in, only to then find out we had to go line up towards the left. Whoopsie! Our bands would not scan again, but it was no big deal. Luckily the cast members laughed about our mistake and begged to let them join us for breakfast.

I was handed this magical paper, which was our ticket in! The masses started entering at 7:45 and since we had the golden paper, we were allowed to go behind the castle. Deeper into the kingdom! Sorry all, I’m royalty.

We couldn’t resist stopping for some pictures. WE WERE HERE. The countdown was 0. My shortest countdown to date and yet the days still seemed to drag on by! I stood and did a full 360 circle just mesmerized by my surroundings. That first view of the castle will never get old. Your mouth just drops open; it’s the Eighth Wonder of the World. Or so it should be!

This time we spotted the sign that said Reservations, so we jogged quickly over to the line. The cast member said to make sure you had your white paper out, and I had been waving mine high in the air dancing, so she got a good chuckle out of my joy.

It was as if I’d won the lottery, or even better! I was waving my paper around like I just hit the jackpot. Breakfast in Cinderella Castle. DO DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE?

Waved hello to an old friend, Sleepy Hollow will always have my heart. My heart cracked just a tad as I walked on by.

Nice crooked castle. Or is my head just crooked? The morning was breathtaking. Out of all the magnificent views in the world, the castle is one I’ll never grow tired of staring at!

The welcome show was happening and we were able to watch from backstage! VIP (Shirley) status, I think so! As the characters came out, they would stop to wave at us! The children waiting with us would light up and wave; and I must admit I was waving too! Mickey blew a kiss to us and I just about melted in a huge puddle like Olaf did in summer! The show seemed quick, but I didn’t want to have an opinion until I watched it from the front of the castle.

Anastasia and Drizella ran through the castle to officially open Fantasyland. We commented on their outfits and they could not believe we were waiting to eat breakfast with Cinderella. They said she would definitely not be wearing anything as stylish as they were.

It was then time to check in and I had a mild panic attack when the cast member said we booked the breakfast for two children. She laughed and then stated and she only kidding, but was glad to see two kids at heart!

I took quality photos, as per usual.

Before being whisked away up for a royal meal, we had to meet our host! We were honored to be here in the most magical structure to ever exist!

Told Cinderella I just ADORED her winter attire and wanted to wear the same! My NorthFace was no match for her shiny ice blue jacket! She complimented our rose gold ears and said they were better than any crown she’s ever seen! We must be royalty and I couldn’t help but agree!

We were then summoned to the royal dining room and the only way I can describe the experience is its like walking into a fairytale storybook. CHILDHOOD GOALS. Step by step, I climbed the spiral staircase only to have my mouth drop open at the sight of the grand banquet hall. The room was much smaller and quaint than I had anticipated. The stone archways and the stained glass windows with the sun shining through made me feel as though I was dreaming. PINCH ME. On second thought, don’t because this moment is just too perfect.

AFB2B87A-2952-46AF-A83D-B72975C20E1D_zpsvt8yq2z5.jpg

The only thing that could enhance such a delightful experience was food. GLORIOUS FOOD. A plate filled with pastries? I could get used to this princess life.

A1C68655-FE6B-4D2D-944E-ACDF6C20DF20_zpsb4sfbpvl.jpg

Servers came around with orange juice and coffee and my cup was never empty! I think I drank 4 cups of coffee and 4 cups of orange juice because the service was spectacular. I almost turned into a legit mermaid because with all the liquid I consumed I’d be swimming out of there!

We both ordered the caramel apple French toast. I substituted the side of bacon for a side of potatoes.

5CCAFFB6-0F92-4D5C-9009-ED2227B4E79D_zpsxfhkbfnm.jpg

Wands we passed out to all the princesses, and I couldn’t help but bippity boppity boo my food. It was delicious! They must use pixie dust as a secret ingredient :)

E0A8F9BB-8450-4AFA-AB5E-ACCDE3628B3A_zpsxd04wuoj.jpg

I started eating but was soon interrupted by a message from above. The princess from the sea would soon be making her way into the dining room. I nearly choked on a potato. ARIEL WITH LEGS.

Royal music blared out of the loudspeaker and the dining room gave a round of applause. I felt tears come into my eyes, glancing around at everyone, both young and old, clapping for Ariel’s entrance. I just get SO HAPPY when people are happy. Sharing the joy is one of the best things about Disney World. There’s not enough joy in the real world, I wish everyone could feel the warmth and happiness that comes along with a Disney trip. Happiness is best when shared.

The most beautiful princess in all the land. Ariel wanted to steal my fork and use it as a dinglehopper! I loved her blue dress; she looked so elegant and regal! Thankfully a nice family sitting behind us offered to take our photo! We felt bad interrupting people eating, so it was nice they saw our struggle and offered us help!

Ariel soon had to bid us farewell, and I may have died a little bit inside. I am worse than the children! Instead of clutching to the bottom of her dress and crying, I waved goodbye and snapped stalkerish photos. I am not proud.

Next to enter the dining room was none other than Rapunzel! We gave another round of applause and I was giggling like a preschooler. Sometimes I question my own inner age.

Rapunzel was so sweet! Of the newer Disney princesses, she ties with Moana. Sorry Frozen. :p

My best friend was freaking out that the other princesses would be Belle and Jasmine. We asked our server who would be next but he said he had no idea. He said the only princesses he saw at the moment were us. We waited patiently for the announcement of who would be gracing our presence next!

Thank Jiminy Cricket the next princess was Sleeping Beauty. She is my friend’s favorite and always complains to me that Princess Aurora does not get the love she deserves! Originally in the New Fantasyland expansion, Sleeping Beauty was to have a cottage with a meet and greet and fully themed area all of her own. Unfortunately for my friend, these plans were scrapped. I always try and pick up her spirits by telling her Princess Aurora has a full castle over there in Disneyland.

We were able to eat for few minutes before the announcement was made for the final princess joining the royal celebration. Princess Jasmine! I tried my hardest to get Joe to pick A Whole New World as our wedding song. Think I'm settling for it being our cut the cake song. You win some, you lose some. :p

B3D62607-FF18-4EC4-BC5A-BEB3BEF9A630_zps83vbwwsj.jpg

I did not expect her to be so covered up, but it was cold! Seeing the princesses in their winter wardrobe was something I really liked! I love how they have winter attire stored in their princess closets in the castle. So regal :)

As the adrenaline rush started to wear off, we were able to sit and savor our breakfast. This meal was expensive, I will admit…ahem budget trip?… but I think it was totally worth it. The breakfast was not rushed at all and the princesses spent a significant amount of time at each table. We were able to meet five princesses all at once, and dine in THE CASTLE. THE FREAKING CASTLE. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! I would totally recommend this restaurant, for the food, the service, and for the unforgettable experience. I even had the jitters from drinking so much coffee, the service was THAT impeccable. Six cups of coffee? DON’T MIND IF I DO.

Who can put a price on such a magical experience? The ambiance and attention to detail cannot be beat. I felt like I had dined in an authentic European castle. I truly stepped foot into my very own fairytale. You're transported out of a busy theme park, into your very own happily ever after.

If you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true! :p

Yay! Can't wait to hear what you thought of ROL! And I would totally have paid the $75

I can't believe I actually saw it with my own two eyes! And I am glad I am not alone in my more precious time in Disney predicament! That was 75 bucks well spent LOL

There is no such thing as too much Disney. And the $75 was totally worth it. That’s a good price to pay to spend more Disney time. Can’t wait for more!!

I agree wholeheartedly! Thank you!!! I'm trying to pump this out LOL

Yay! Can't wait to follow along! I am super jealous of your Ariel LLR leggings. I want a pair so badly!!

I may have a slight addiction! I want more! Glad you're following :)

:)

LOVING this!!! Great start!! Can’t wait to hear more!!:)

Love all of the MK/ CRT Breakfast pics! Making me want to be there so badly :). We also stayed In ASM last trip when traveling with friends who had a smaller budget, and the kids loved the Ariel pool (guess you didn’t get much use out of that in January)

Loving your report!! It is successfully healing my Disney Depression for the moment. We’re going in May but I need it NOW! I hear you about it being the weirdest thing being there when it’s not so hot. We’ve been a few times in January but after the 32° , 5 day spectacular of 2010, we said no more! Well, we said it with expletives but you get the idea. It made us miss almost fainting from heat stroke.
Looks like you’ve had a great time so far and can’t wait to read more!

I absolutely LOVE the pictures of the stepsisters in Fantasyland! Also that picture of the stained glass windows is to die for.

It was pretty funny that they ran through the breezeway after the welcome show! Everyone was surprised and in awe! And the one stained glass picture I had to steal from Google images because my skills are lacking and I needed to share with everyone just how gorgeous it truly is! Even the Google image picture does not do it justice!

Yay! You had breakfast in the castle! I too get teary eyed in there. I tell myself I am being sentimental about my kiddos but it’s really the kid that still lives inside this princess! Can’t wait for more.

We thought people would think we were insane, which I don't disagree with, for being two grown adults at a princess breakfast! There were quite a many other adults there without kiddos so it made us feel better! I think everyone should experience a meal in the castle at one point in their Disney travels! Who doesn't want to GO IN the castle? We are all kiddos at heart!

Count me in! 75$ is nothing if it means you get to spend more time in Disney. So glad you got to eat in the castle. We definitely regret not doing it this year. The girls ended up missing out on a few princesses autographs which we normally would have gotten here.

It was an amazing experience! I definitely want to try lunch or dinner there next! It's worth the expense to have the princesses come to you rather than wasting park time waiting in line for them!

Just like a Disney trip, I am already dreading the end of this trip report :cat: I’m following along and loving it so far!

My trip was short, but I took sooo many pictures and was graciously given my Photopass pictures so I think it should at least keep the report to a reasonable length! Thank you for following :inlove::inlove::inlove:

Same. I claim that I wear mine for the kids... that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Love your Ariel ones... they're on my list. :inlove:
:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
Again... :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
And one more time... :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
I'm proud of your restraint. But I'm still LOLing. :hilarious:
This makes me so excited!!! I've always had Snow White, but Rapunzel is a welcome change. :joyfull::inlove:

I feel like I can get away with wearing my lularoe leggings to work more often, so I think it's a great excuse to buy more! LOL! And i'm glad the report can crack you up! Must share the laughter since you are always sharing your wonderful Disney days! You are living out my ultimate dream!

LOVING this!!! Great start!! Can’t wait to hear more!!:)

Thank you! I have dedicated this weekend to writing a lot because I am feeling a tad under the weather! It's a good excuse to sit on the couch with a warm tea and trip report! :p

The pools looked so welcoming but it was super cold! Every time we walked by it was either early morning or nighttime, so no one was in them at those hours! I'm thinking maybe midday they were getting some use, I think they keep the pool temperature pretty warm? I liked the All Stars and would definitely stay again to save some money! Think of all the extra souvenirs! LOL

Haha! I tried to get Tale As Old As Time for ours because we are Beauty and the Beast! Needless to say I failed too! :joyfull:

Glad I'm not alone in my Disney ideas being vetoed! LOL

I admit I was missing the sweat dripping down unmentionable places! I know it was a lot warmer than the Northeast where I was coming from, but it was still cold! I don't like wearing a coat and feeling the wind blow my ears off in Disney! To me Disney has always been HOT! Glad you are following along and May will be here before you know it! :)

After a bright and cheery breakfast, we decided to visit a dark ominous house. No windows and no doors? However will we escape?

My friend joked that I was the evil bride, and kept whispering “Til DEATH do us part” into my ear.

Oh don’t worry Joe… I could never be an evil ghost bride! MUHAHAHAHA.

After our doom buggy ride, we wandered through Momento Mori. I wanted to purchase everything in sight. The cast members asked us if we found our ever sought after rose gold ears in the park, or if we paid a large amount of money online for them. We explained my friend’s sister purchased them around Christmas at the Emporium, and must have just gotten lucky! This would be the first of many times we were questioned about the rare rose gold ears! I wish I kept count!

We stumbled upon The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History. We caught the signing of the Declaration on Independence version and it was hilarious. My friend and I sang the song for the rest of the day. “Great moments in history but only the American parts!” It is quite a catchy jingle!

I remember the chaos that ensued when this show was announced. People felt so strongly that the muppets did not belong anywhere near Liberty Square and that Walt would be rolling in his grave. I spent many a nights zooming in on windows, looking for any hint of an animatronic. (Wow this trip report is just confirming that I am indeed a stalker.) Anyways, this show is amazing and a great addition to the Magic Kingdom. Hello, Stacy? We got ourselves a new must do!!!!

We decided to head to Pirates but got distracted!

My country bear knowledge is not up to par. Who the heck is this? LOL

We moseyed around in the shops and I stopped a Cast Member and asked where the Native American was. He looked at me confused but I pointed to wear he usually stood and in his place was a big brown box crate thing. He then said "Ohhhhh, him!" He needed a little touch up! Guess I am the only psycho who noticed him MIA!

How can I have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day when my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction is being refurbished? I know, I know, all the attractions deserve their time to shine, but I missed you Brer Rabbit! Hope to see ya real soon!

Pirates was experiencing technical difficulties, so we continued on towards Jungle Cruise. It was good thing we went on when we did because for the rest of the day the wait times were around 60 minutes!

Our skipper was hysterical, and our boat was filled with fun, good-spirited families! My favorite part was when she wanted to point out some of her favorite plants, and literally just went mute and pointed to different greenery. I still crack up.

This one little boy kept asking if everything was real, it was so cute. He would turn to his grandma and ask if it was real or just pretend. Seeing Disney attractions through the eyes of children always makes my heart swell. I can’t wait to one day share the magic of Disney with my own kids. I tell Joe all the time I’m going to start them early and train the help me conspire against him. I see DVC in my future. Bahaha.

We went to see if Pirates reopened and unfortunately it was still down. We decided to mosey around in the store, and the bathroom?

Traded in the coveted rose gold ears for a pirate hat, sent a picture message to my boss, and warned that I was never returning to Pennsylvania. Yo ho, Yo ho, it’s a pirate’s life for me from here on out!

To Texans, I'm sure it would, LOL ;)

It was COLD when we were in Disney too, like I couldn't believe I needed my North Face, and my Slytherin scarf and hat... in Florida while we were there. I mean yeah, January is technically winter, but I didn't realize it would be that cold in Florida.

Sorry Splash was closed, it was open and completely empty when we were there a few weeks ago, and we literally rode it like 5 times in a row :x

Excellent so far! It's always great to be down there even if it's a short trip! Quick question, did they change the Tragical express times back yet? 4 hours is tooooo long..:grumpy:

My flight home was at 730 and they picked us up st 3:35! I heard it was changed back to three hours but I did not get lucky! Debated ubering to the airport at 7:00 pm or cancelling my flight home altogether, but my friend was being too rationale. :)

So jealous of your Splash rides! I would have ridden back to back if it was open!

I guess my brain was just super confused on why it was so cold in Disney! My past memories didn’t line up! LOL

I’m surprised they even keep Blizzard Beach open in January, there’s no way it can be profitable! We saw so many Blizzard Beach buses driving empty!
