Trip Report An Orlando Move and some Disney Fun!

Hi all!
I'm just back from another crazy great family adventure!!
This time the trip wasn't just for fun but to help my son Seth move to Orlando!
Yep, he and his partner decided they had enough of New York and chose to move almost as far south as possible.
Jake was a Special Effects Artist but decided to answer the call from Disney and got a job in the College Program that he hopes will swing to a permanent position. Seth works as a Game Development Artist and as he works remotely, was ready and able to get out of Dodge, I mean NY!

The travelers include me and Seth. (Gary wasn't up for the trip).
Oh, and I almost forgot, Satan the Cat, otherwise actually known as Athens.
Tell me he doesn't look like a Satan.

This cat and his antics during the move increased our stress from probably a 5 to an 8.5. :cautious:

I left Pittsburgh May 17th to drive a Budget Cargo Van to Brooklyn.

To me the most obvious question would be, "why are you driving a big honkin van an extra 400 miles?" Well that's because no one in NY would promise me this size of a van. I was told it could be bigger, and that's a big ole hell no. So off I went.

The first part of this trip report is the crazy of the move and you are welcome to scroll past to "skip to the good part". But, if you want to get a few laughs hang around during the first part. It was so much fun I would like to do it again next week!

And before I end this post I would like to thank @cgersic and @Zipadeelady for all of their Orlando move advice, and @Darstarr for her multiple offers of help on the NY end. (I couldn't take her up on them because she would have seen in person not just via txt what a hot mess my life is)! @Tuvalu and @riverside offered moral support and some helpful travel hints during the trip!

That is definitely a lot of food served but it does seem like a great deal for people with big appetites! I love the Toy Story decor although the noise factor would probably be a deal breaker for me. Glad you enjoyed the meal and ambience!
If you're considering eating there maybe see if there is someone who has posted a video on youtube so you can see/hear if the noise level would bother you.

Definitely, probably.

I was just researching this after reading your comment. Apparently the coffee reheated "changes flavor."
I'm thinking we do some inventing here.
We could be rich, rich I say!

Oucherronies!!!

Thanks, and thanks to everyone for your thoughts. We'll figure it out eventually.
I like where your mind is! We have to find the perfect blend that gets better overnight. Like a cold brew, but cheaper to be made at home! Really, who wants to wait in the morning for coffee?

Today is Seth’s birthday!
Living the good life!
We got him Drawn to Life tickets for his birthday and he and Jake did that and Gideons yesterday.
Today was the MK, Tron and hopping to HS for Rodeo bday dinner!

Yesterday at Disney Springs, Jakes parents got them a ride on this ballon thing with a Groupon. Didn’t know you could do that.
IMG_0891.jpeg

Then a Gideons stop for a “hot cookie event”? He said they do it once in awhile.

Then Cirque which he said was the absolute best!!

Today-
I made him take a bday on the wall photo!

He said they gave him this at Gastons for his birthday!

Is there a chemist on these boards?! :D

I was thinking the same thing! It looks mushy… not cheesy, not crunchy from being baked, but… mushy. My kids would not go near that!
Food Cheese GIF

The 2 things that we ate in Disney that were overcooked or undercooked, mac n cheese and corn! All the meat looked delicious and so did the watermelon salad. Yummo!
I agree. All of the other meats were extremely fatty. We were very disappointed. The biscuits, salads & sides were the best part of the meal!!
How can you mess up mac n cheese?!
And I thought the same with the meats, very fatty.
But I would still go back again.

Thanks for all of the birthday greetings. He posted on his IG page yesterday that it was the best bday ever!

s much as I loved the biscuits, sides & salads I don’t think I could. Fatty meats really strike a cord with me!!
I also agree with this! The sausage was really the only thing edible. Maybe two of the ribs as well. Everything else was just fatty.
I hope that this gets addressed. (Again, I would still return.)
Seth and Jake ate there yesterday and he said they really liked their meal. (He didn't realize how much it was till they paid for their own meal and experienced a little sticker shock!) 🤣

MAY 21st HS continued....

After eating at the Rodeo we headed out of the park.
We decided to ride the Railway as the posted line was maybe 30 minutes.
It's a cute ride but I don't think I would wait in a huge line for it.
I'm like a lot of people here who don't understand the replace instead of add philosophy Disney has with rides.

We did a little shopping on our way out. I got this for my Mickey 4th of July collection.
IMG_4562.JPG

I took pictures of these 2 things for Seth so if they go on sale or the discounts increase he could pick them up for me.
It's funny how you might not want something at full price but you like it with a discount. I'm sure there's something wrong with that thinking.

As we're exiting selfie.

After that we headed to the parking area.
I thought these row makers were cute even though I prefer the more traditional Mickey style.
IMG_4565.JPG

I asked Seth to get the car and pick me up near the exit to the park. He was annoyed because he actually had to exit and come back around because the rows are all one direction.
As I was waiting for him a CM came over and chatted and said I hope he's here soon, look at that sky. I hadn't been paying attention, but there were some dark clouds rolling in!

We made it to OKW without any rain.
I stopped in the gift shop one more time and got this!
I was so excited. I hand carried it all the way home but probably shouldn't have put it in the same bag as the picnic basket because after I unwrapped it at home it had a crack in the back of it.
I don't know why I keep buying these clear large ornaments because probably 4 of the last 5 have broken.
2 of them in my super duper cool storage boxes Gary built for them.

Anyway, I got my overnight coffee and bought a bag of the caramel popcorn for Gary's oncologist. He's a friend of ours as well as his Dr. He absolutely hates Disney but loves their popcorn.🤣
His family makes him go every few years and he b----es the entire time. He got covid last time they went and was steamed because of how sick he was.
I can't post the pic on here due to his privacy, but he sent me a pic of him on Main Street. It was 90 some degrees in September and he didn't realize they were doing a magic shot. It's him looking quite grouchy holding Tinkerbell in his hands!
I was howling!
Laughing Hard GIF

Anyway. Seth dropped me off and I spent the evening packing up my stuff and settled in to watch the American Idol finale.
I fell asleep before they announced the winner, but I was pretty sure who was going to win it, and they did.

Tomorrow is my last day to play in the morning, and then get ready for the (much shorter) journey home!

Happy Birthday Seth! We like MMRR but really miss The Great Movie Ride and were just talking about it on the last trip.
Thanks, and it was interesting. We had the same conversation but Seth said a huge majority of people aren't familiar with the movies that were represented and he could get on board with the change.
I just think you can keep the old one as it (I think) held a lot of people and was a fun ride.
And build another high put through ride. 🤷‍♀️

And there was only one piece of sausage!!
There is a bbq place around here that charges extra if you want your meats lean. I would rather have that option!
I hope that this gets addressed. (Again, I would still return.)

I hope it does also!!
And yes, it is pricey. And I am ok with it as long as I feel like I’m getting a quality product. Not happening in this case….
