Pre-Trip An Accidental Anniversary Trip - June 2018

Wait. What?

What does that even mean?

It means that we're headed back to Disney, and in my excitement to find dates that worked for the entire family, it didn't even occur to me that our trip would overlap with our 13th wedding anniversary.
So, not only do I get to plan another wonderful family vacation, I get to plan an anniversary celebration in Disney World! I never thought I'd be able to say that!

Let's get started!

Who:
Me, I'm Ali (rhymes with Sally)
My husband Jim (who might actually BE Prince Charming)
Our kids Gwen and Ethan, my mother AKA Grammy, and Jim's mother AKA Mutie

Here we all are on our last trip together in 2015

We spent our 12th Anniversary in California, so maybe this is becoming a thing for us!
Yosemite Valley was so beautiful!

When:
June 5th-14th
We'll be starting thing off with two days at the beach, and a visit to Kennedy Space Center, then a week at Disney

Where:
Alas, we are once again staying off property ☹️
We have a two bedroom rental at Blue Heron Beach resort for $129 a night. We can't beat that on property. We've stayed here before and we love the location and accommodations. It's 10-15 minutes from the parks, and less than 5 minutes from DTD

Goals: stay up late, try new things and EAT

112 days and counting!

Cocoa Beach. How did I not mention that before!?
Jim is all about Cocoa Beach & Kennedy Space Center.

He's a closet Disney lover though. He doesn't geek out like me, but he also never complains about stopping at the Disney Store, or my Disney Pandora station, or watching and re-watching all the Disney movies. He loves it, he just doesn't talk about it

I went back because I thought I might have missed it. You mentioned the name of the resort, but not where it was. Love the beach.. we have a favorite condo, but our favorite beach spot is St. Pete Beach... I believe it's on the opposite side of the state.

So...

I'm just hanging out with the kids on a rainy afternoon, watching Beauty and the Beast on Freeform when I feel inspired to check availability for BOG...

Success! I got an 8:05 dinner ADR for 4 if us!
My MIL isn't a huge BOG fan, and my husband is indifferent, so my mom and I will probably go with the kids.
My mom really wants to meet The Beast ❤️

70 days and counting!

OK so the trip title caught my eye-Kinda had an accidental birthday trip in March (for me). Very fun to celebrate in Disney.
Oops-hit post to soon
Love Tangerine Cafe-and our family will split up around world showcase to get things we want.
Yay for the BoG dinner score! The TP (or might have been mouse dining) reservation finder was great finding last minute ADR for me in March-ended up with late breakfast at 1900 PF for my birthday (and my oldest's "unbirthday") celebration.

Happy belated birthday to you!
I can't wait to celebrate at Disney!
1900 PF is on my list to try. The strawberry soup calls to me! 😋

We also frequently stay offsite-
And we are there in June too-and doing 2 beach days at Cocoa beach the weekend of June 8-10.
As much as I would love to stay in the bubble, I love a 2 bedroom condo with 2 balconies even more. 😁
We'll just miss passing each other on the road! We're leaving Cocoa Beach on the 7th
Leaving in 28 days!

We frequently do split stays with a few days on, rest off for longer trips, or if whole family is along (and not just a couple of us).
Our June trip is 5 days on-site at Cabins at Fort Wilderness, 2 days at beach, week at our timeshare exchange-going back to Marriott Cypress Harbour-has become our favorite resort! And yeah-the private screened in lanai, full kitchen, multiple beds/bathrooms-coffee and breakfast on the lanai before rest of family is up is my favorite part of vacation

Yeah-will wave to you on the road LOL!!

Crisis!!!!!!

I just found out that Toy Story Mania is going to be shut down June 11th-18th while they relocate the entrance.
My plan was to do DHS on the 12th.
We have the Bon Voyage breakfast booked for the morning of the 12th as well.
GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most logical thing to do is swap our DHS day with AK on the 10th, but that will still throw off our dining reservations. No Sanaa bread service for me 😭 and we'll have to cancel 50's Prime Time too.
I think I'll keep the Bon Voyage breakfast, but driving to AK afterward won't be as sweet as strolling to DHS. So it goes

If I were you, I would just keep it as it. As fun as TSMM is, I wouldn't move my plans around jest because its closed. There is still plenty of stuff to do to occupy your time.

Fast passes are open for week before though, for TSMM. I went ahead and got some for Friday the 8th for late morning-if we decide to hit up a park before heading to the beach.

Is there though? I know there are plenty of shows, but if TSMM is down, there are only three rides. I really don't know what I'm going to do. 😱

I just booked FP+ at Epcot for the 8th, but that might be a good DHS day instead
Oh how I wish we'd bought park hoppers!!!!!!

I grabbed a TSMM FP for the 8th, 11:40 am I think. We check out of FW that day, and if we feel like hitting a park on way out of town to beach we can. Only booked them because my son and husband like to be competitive on them, and now my oldest will be working that side of the park this summer.
I love hoppers, but I have to say-we don't hop nearly as much when we stay offsite. Especially now with the Express bus gone.

yeah-if you stop to watch the perfomers, March of first order, shows (Frozen sing along was surprisingly cute-at least the holiday version was, and Indy is always worth a watch). Go through Launch bay, meet the characters-it can really nice to not have to rush as well. And if you do get bored walk to Boardwalk and get a snack (ice cream) and tour the resort. Our family also enjoys Muppet show.

I really wouldn't sweat these two-seems there is always something opening up, so switching days may not be that big of a deal...fingers crossed that it works out!
