Pre-Trip An Accidental Anniversary Trip - June 2018

Wait. What?

What does that even mean?

It means that we're headed back to Disney, and in my excitement to find dates that worked for the entire family, it didn't even occur to me that our trip would overlap with our 13th wedding anniversary.
So, not only do I get to plan another wonderful family vacation, I get to plan an anniversary celebration in Disney World! I never thought I'd be able to say that!

Let's get started!

Who:
Me, I'm Ali (rhymes with Sally)
My husband Jim (who might actually BE Prince Charming)
Our kids Gwen and Ethan, my mother AKA Grammy, and Jim's mother AKA Mutie

Here we all are on our last trip together in 2015

We spent our 12th Anniversary in California, so maybe this is becoming a thing for us!
Yosemite Valley was so beautiful!

When:
June 5th-14th
We'll be starting thing off with two days at the beach, and a visit to Kennedy Space Center, then a week at Disney

Where:
Alas, we are once again staying off property ☹️
We have a two bedroom rental at Blue Heron Beach resort for $129 a night. We can't beat that on property. We've stayed here before and we love the location and accommodations. It's 10-15 minutes from the parks, and less than 5 minutes from DTD

Goals: stay up late, try new things and EAT

112 days and counting!

Thank you! Glad to have you along!

TC is my favorite QS in Epcot. No contest. The "wraps" they serve are actually gyros. The best, freshest gyros I've ever had! And, they have chicken tenders and burgers on the kids menu for my unreasonably picky eaters.
YOU HAVE TO GO!
Thumbs up for Tangerine
Last trip I was so hungry for lunch I ordered two platters.
My DW and DD questioned why I brought so much food back to the table.
No worries though - it was all gone before we left
Mama didn't raise a quitter!!!

Another fan here of the Tangerine Cafe -- I like the Chicken & Lamb Shawarma platter (that also has hummus, tabouleh and couscous salad with Moroccan bread). :hungry: (When I'm over in MK, I'll have burgers, etc., but when I'm in EPCOT, I enjoy more interesting food.)

Yay!!! I am in and I am super psyched for you! We have been very fortunate to honeymoon at Disney and every family trip we’ve taken coincided with our anniversary. Definitely wear the pins! It’s fun to get anniversary greetings and we received several free desserts in recognition of our special day. Now that I said that I am not sure if they are still doing the specific anniversary pins anymore. It’s been 3.5 years since our last family trip 🙁. I loved CG! Definitely a great spot for a special meal. Fingers crossed you get BOG for dinner. I am jealous of your Homecomin’ ADR and also the Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder character breakfast. We are hoping a Disney summer vacation works out for us and if it does I really want to do both of those ADRs!

Thanks for following!
I think you're right about the anniversary pins. I'm pretty sure I've read that they're nonspecific celebration pins now. Oh well! I've never celebrated at Disney before, so I'll take what I can get!

I've heard so many good things about Homecomin'! I can't wait!
I have wanted to do the Bon Voyage Breakfast since I first heard about it! Not kidding when I tell you I'm more excited than my 9-year-old daughter! 😜

I hope your summer plans come together and that we can compare notes on these new dining experiences!

Love Shawarna!
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of QS food in World Showcase. It's a great opportunity to try new things. One day, my husband and kids will see the light!

You all have convinced me—TC next trip!! I don’t care where everyone else wants to eat—we’ll meet up later!! Next trip is booked for June but I’ve been known to squeeze one(or two!!) in beforehand!! Thanks for all the advice!! I can’t wait to try it!!

Very exciting development for the pre-Disney leg of our vacation. Jim booked us a lovely 2 bedroom cottage on the beach!

Not bad, right?

They have hammocks, beach umbrellas, boogie boards and fire pits for guest use.
We're also looking into parasailing...

Can't wait to be in that hammock!
95 days to go

That's awesome. What beach are you at?

Cocoa Beach. How did I not mention that before!?
Jim is all about Cocoa Beach & Kennedy Space Center.

He's a closet Disney lover though. He doesn't geek out like me, but he also never complains about stopping at the Disney Store, or my Disney Pandora station, or watching and re-watching all the Disney movies. He loves it, he just doesn't talk about it
