I just don't get it. What's in it for the audience at AIE? It sounds like audience members devote a sizable chunk of time to hear amateur singing.

I'm not opposed to AIE, but I just don't get it. Maybe it will be a huge crowd-suck and will reduce lines at attractions I'll be enjoying nearby.

I don't think it will be a huge crowd-suck. Think about it.

Running time of a show would be about 45 mins. to 1 hour.

Subtract 5 minutes for Opening (theme music w/ video, Judges intros. ) and Closing (voting, some sort of count down to winner announcement)

Then with each contestant you have: Introduction - 20 seconds, Singing - 90 seconds, Judging - 40 seconds. That's 2.5 minutes per contestant. That would mean 16 to 22 contestants per show.

Now multiply those 16 - 22 contestants by "their Friends and Family" who would be in the audience (let's say 10 on average ). That puts 160 to 220 people who are watching someone they know.

The house holds 1000+, that would mean there are about 800 seats for people who are interested enough to give up "ride time" to watch a bunch of strangers sing per hour.

I don't see it happening.

Just want to point out;

Jim Hill posted an article explaining how the process will work and each show will only have 3 contestants. Not 16-22.

Millionaire drew crowds for a couple of years before it was nothing but returning audience members. American Idol will most likely do the same.

Exactamundo. Maybe I'm a dolt, but I cannot fathom 800 people giving up ride time to see some strangers sing. And then Disney thinks this is going to happen several times a day, several days a week. Absolutely stupefying IMO.

So, the first time AIE plays to a packed house we can call you a dolt?

Because it will happen.

Millionaire drew crowds because there was a chance that as an audience member you could actually get in the "hot seat" and win a prize. Unless they are going to be giving out "door prizes", I don't see much of a draw (except an air conditioned oasis in the middle of the day, but Sounds Dangerous is better for a nap:lol:).

I was reading thru the terms and conditions of it today, and hang on - only US Residents can win the Dream Ticket?
It's not like Canada and the UK doesn't have their own versions (the UK being the original I might add).
WDW's revenue relies heavily on international guests as much as it does US visitors.
What about all the Canadian snowbirds?
What about the mass Easter and Summer exoduses from Europe?
I'm not against the idea as such, tho it does have some major flaws, but I can honestly see this being one of the biggest disasters in WDW history.
I'm all for new ideas, change and all that. But who REALLY is going to waste the best part of their day on vacation (potentially all day), to be told they can't sing; and won't win a ticket or aren't even elegible anyway?
And who wants to actually be forced to hear these people sing out of tune versions of our beloved Disney songs on that big screen whilst walking around the park? (does everyone here know that they are going to be singing preselected Disney songs?) I sure don't.
The park is also gonna be jam packed on a regular basis with the Hannah Montana wannabe tweens all gathered around the Hub / Hat.
There is a lot at Disney that needs refurb'ing. I think they should have used the money somewhere else.
Just my thoughts.

" Hip, Optimistic, Comically Constructive. Judges will provide constructive and knowledgeable vocal feedback, always with an entertaining twist." Simon? What kind of sick simon is this? a bibbdi-bobbidi-boutique-style-fairy-god-mother type of Simon?

The end of all decent music is apon us as predicded by Ben Elton who wrote We Will Rock You. What's next a company called Globaolsoft takes over the world and produces everything? Will there be a time when people are stars for shorter times then it takes for the ink to dry on their contract? Will all isterments be baned? When will we need a licence to own a gitaur?

Does anyone else think that they will have fill-ins in case they dont get enough people for the shows that day?

For all we know, it may be a theater that only holds 200-300 people. They probably know how big the crowds will be, WDI is not stupid enough to just go ahead with an attraction without guessing the size of the appeal group. It very well be intended to try and appeal to those that enjoy these kinds of shows. People are always looking for interactive experiences that are always changing. That is definitely the key to TSM and it may just be what Disney needs more of.

Yes, they are. And apparently they will deliberatly sing badly just to give the audience entertainment - and so the real ppl stand a chance of winning...

:brick:

I am hating this attraction increasingly with every passing day...
