Because 99% of people don't like change. If it was up to everyone on this board, Epcot would still have the same old boring rides of the past, DHS would still be MGM with it's boring shows. It comes down to not being able or willing to accept change and give something a chance.

WRONG. I want a lot of changes in WDW. I want new attractions, rehabs, refurbishments etc. But what I and quite a lot óf other people don't want is a tasteless attraction based on a even more tasteless TV-show-example of modern trailer-trash television (sometimes also called Low-IQTV). I say, the AI will not exist for more than 2 or 3 years at best.
The TV-show is basically a sadistic presentation of mostly nerds and low-lifes who are misled to believe they have a chance to become famous without any talent. I don't think Walt would appreciate either.

Why would you want to see that? For the same reason they show the regional auditions on TV...everyone likes to watch a train wreck. It is human curiosity. Yes I'm sure there are those who go on the show looking for their 15 seconds, just like we will see when AI opens, those park goers looking for their 15 seconds, but luckily Fox is not running AI into the ground like ABC did with Who Wants to be a Millionaire. So maybe this attraction will have some longevity. It is at least nice to have something go into that theater since its been vacant for quite a few years now.

Next we need to get rid of Drew Carrey...

I guess I see a differance between laughing at train wreck in the privacy of your own home, and watching it all unfold before your very eyes, live on stage and on a Jumbo tron in the middle of a Disney park. Laughing at a person performing in that situation, no matter how bad, would just seem really harsh to me. I have visions of some very uncomfertable moments for the audience.

I'm not saying that there isn't an audience for it at all, obviously there is. I know, when it first opens a least, there will probably some people who go to DHS just to be a part of it. However don't see it being very sustainable, as an attraction, over a long period of time.

I am glad that they re-did the theater. I guess the good thing is that it seems like a venue that can be easily re-themed for other things once AI has run its course.

I am sharing your opinion. That there is an audience is quite clear. There would even be an audience for a "Running Man Show" on television, there would be an audience for gladiators fighting live to death. There is a lot of depraved entertainment that would find an audience. It's just nothing that belongs in a Disney-park.

Give me a break. 99% of people on this board do want change. Me for example, I have literally THOUSANDS of ideas to change WDW. AI is just a show that many people think is the wrong kind of change WDW needs right now and they're probably right.

Now I love American Idol, but this show will not last long. I have accurately predicted failiure for SGE and MILF, and now I predict failiure for this. My biggest concern is that if someone gets a chance to sing on stage and they crash and burn and get humiliated on stage then their trip to WDW will be ruined.

I couldn't disagree with you more! I think that most people want GOOD changes to WDW, however, this show is just a bad idea. AI is pretty much past its prime on TV, what makes them think that an attraction will be successful? Personally, I have no desire to watch several people who think they have a fantastic voice embarrass themselves....Thanks, but I'lll pass.

Since when is MILF a failure? It attracts audiences, and I think it's a decent show for a modest budget. It may be thematically wrong, but just because a fanboy doesn't like the show, doesn't make it a "failure".

Then that's all you have to do is pass. No need to bash something without giving it a chance. I can almost guarantee that this attraction will be packed and that's all that matters.

Not everybody is longing for the days of stupid Food Rocks or Horizons. Those days are gone because those shows sucked.

And who cares if it's only here for 2 or 3 years? Is that a bad thing? A revolving attraction is not a bad thing in my opinion. Changing it every 3 years would keep it fresh and keep more people coming back to see the new attraction.

What is MILF? And couldn't you choose another abbreviation for whatever it is, MILF is kind of...you know, occupied for at least some time since American Pie came out for something definitely un-disney.

Yes it is a bad thing. Its a waste of time and money. A good attraction must have staying power. You can't build an expensive attraction with the logic of "well let's just put this piece of garbage together, it'll be gone in a couple years anyways." Then why bother building it in the first place? If you spend money on an attraction, you have to build it with the logic that it will hopefully last atleast ten years and maybe more if its popular enough.

Horizons "sucked" but AI is going to be "packed" and "that's all that matters". And "who cares if it's only here for 2 or 3 years", they spend millions on a show that does last for only a few years, yes thats exactly the way Disney parks became the most successful theme parks in the world.
I am glad you don't have to decide anything about WDW. Sorry, nothing personal but anyone who prefers AIE instead of Horizons doesn't really seem to care about Walts spirit.

Dude... Walt's dead.

What he wants or wanted has little influence over the decisions that are made within TDC anymore.

EDIT: I see the abriviation was explained. And I think we should all give the show a chance, as it may not be the greatest, but will attract visitors, which could possibly help DHS, and see more improvment.

Or possibly, if it stinks, it could send DHS in a different direction.

So.... What kind of time commitment is involved. Wait in line, come and go as you please. Or are you held captive for several performances. Can someone give a brief description. I see the watch, vote perform but for how long?

i know that each show of AI will only have a few performers in it, screened and selected at the beginning of each day. my guess is that these shows will not see a large amount of poor talent showcased, but instead will be comprised of decent talent that will be appealing to an overall audience. i cannot think of any disney attraction that majorly plays to guests' weaknesses as a source of entertainment. that said, i don't believe there will be too many awkward moments for performers or audiences. the screening process seems to be thorough. i'm not sure, however, about the number of performances a day; it's ambitious. they will figure all of this out before this attraction is officially opened. it's nice to know that they are revamping the theater because it has been vacant way too long.

No one said it had to be a piece of garbage. You can build a great attraction and keep rotating it every few years.

And who cares if it wastes time and money, it's not your time and its not your money.

I didn't say I prefer it over Horizons (even though Horizons sucked). I am saying give the show a chance. Does it really affect you and your life that a new show that you may not like is coming to DHS? You don't like it, so don't go. Simple as that really.

And no offense to you, but AIE will be a GREAT money maker and that is what Disney is in the business of, making money. Sorry, the days of Walt are gone, it's about money now and how much they can make. You clearly aren't a business man or you would see that this is going to make a lot of money for them.
