Couldn't agree more. The GMR is a GREAT attraction it just needs a good refurb and maybe a scene added. The GMR, to me, is the heartbeat of the park and it NEEDS to have scenes from non-disney movies because as GLaDOS said it is a testament to all movie making.
Yeah...I highly doubt any of this is true...
And I simply don't understand the Idol hatred. I get why people dislike the show, but it is still one of the highest rated shows in Television, it had it's biggest ratings decline EVER this Tuesday for the premiere and it's STILL one of the highest rated shows in television.
Sure, it might not play to packed houses in the middle of September, but for the most part, the shows that I have gone to (and I like it, so I go quite frequently) haven't been noticeably empty.
Listen, this show has it's problems, but ultimately Disney did a great job transporting you to a Live television taping, which is this shows biggest point, it truly feels that way.
I don't want this show going anytime soon, and when it does, which I acknowledge that it eventually will, It better be a pretty darn awesome ride to replace this and sounds dangerous. Until I see evidence of that....
I don't think its Idol hate, just the fact that AIE opened quite a few years after American Idol's peak of popularity, so it was seen by many as an odd choice. And while AIE is nicely produced and is a relatively entertaining show, they have struggled to get enough people to participate in the show on a daily basis, for a number of reasons which many people speculated about beforehand. And personally, I find the large screen outside promoting Idol to be loud and obnoxious.
I think ultimately they could have chosen to put something there that had more longevity and a long-lasting appeal. Unless their plan all along was to run the show as long as they could while AI was popular and then change it out... but knowing how they approach $$ that is doubtful and seems more like a misjudgment of the show's popularity.
How long was it there - 2, 3 years?
Good riddance to anything to do with that show.
I don't think its American Idol hate, but it is a couple factors for what is happening with American Idol Experience.Yeah...I highly doubt any of this is true...

Even for the people who enjoy the show and want to participate. After the initial "Going to be judged on my talent and skills during vacation" deal there is also the fact that it takes a huge commitment of most people's WDW time. Not everyone are so frequent or local. So you have to commit so much of your day for the encore performance and everything else. People pay a lot for every minute on WDW theme park property.
This show is not going to be missed by too many it seems. There has been a desperate push for it for a long time too. The 'free bonus' Fastpasses distributed at places like Star Tours Fastpass Distribution for certain shows, the Cast Members waving their American Idol Experience signs as people load into Fantasmic etc.
I know the first year winning got you an entry into the real AI auditions, have they stopped that? This and the fact that there isn't a real prize or tie-in to the show.
I can't believe AI has an amusement park attraction and they give it absolutely zero airtime. Brilliant job by Disney Marketing!!! I will never understand why a tie-in with the tv show wasn't part of the original agreement.
They needed to make the AI attraction like a year-round audition for the show. Have not only daily competitions, but weekly ones as well. Weekly winners come back for a competition where the top 5 go to Hollywood. And the DHS competition should get one night of airtime on Idol each year.

I just wish they would give it out better prizes like Millionaire did. (e.g. cruises, disney gift cards, unlimited fastpass)
"Woohoo you won a ticket so you can audition, again!"....
