I'm all for a Monster Sound Show / Superstar TV revival. i have no faith in TDO to create anything worthwhile these days. Might as well go retro.

Couldn't agree more. The GMR is a GREAT attraction it just needs a good refurb and maybe a scene added. The GMR, to me, is the heartbeat of the park and it NEEDS to have scenes from non-disney movies because as GLaDOS said it is a testament to all movie making.

I still believe the ride is great the way it is. I dont think you need to do anything to the ride itself except just clean up and figure work.

Now as far as the ride vehicle s go and the script, theres things that can be done. This is the perfect time to bring some Next Gen technology or the living character stuff. All you need is two AA's in the front of the ride vehicle; Tom Servo and Crow. Maybe Gypsy can be in the preshow. Hey the SOL crashed when series ended and they all ended up on Earth. Have the ride host, Servo, and Crow just go through the ride and do their thing.

Thats actually not a bad idea I think.:lookaroun

I know not a lot of people share my excitement, but AIE is one of my favorite attractions at WDW. I really hope it's going to be around for a while.

I hate to be a downer, and I'd love to see a ride take over the combined spaces, but I see this as a pretty bold statement from someone who quite a few of us dont yet trust as being "insider". I'd love for this to be be true, but I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet.

Yeah...I highly doubt any of this is true...

And I simply don't understand the Idol hatred. I get why people dislike the show, but it is still one of the highest rated shows in Television, it had it's biggest ratings decline EVER this Tuesday for the premiere and it's STILL one of the highest rated shows in television.

Sure, it might not play to packed houses in the middle of September, but for the most part, the shows that I have gone to (and I like it, so I go quite frequently) haven't been noticeably empty.

Listen, this show has it's problems, but ultimately Disney did a great job transporting you to a Live television taping, which is this shows biggest point, it truly feels that way.

I don't want this show going anytime soon, and when it does, which I acknowledge that it eventually will, It better be a pretty darn awesome ride to replace this and sounds dangerous. Until I see evidence of that....

We're all still skeptical of the original poster because it seems that to date all he's been able to do was filter through the other rumor discussions and go out on a limb and confirm the more plausible ones.

I'd love to be wrong on this as more insiders on here is good for the community, but I expect us to all remain somewhat skeptical until we see hard evidence or support from other trusted sources.

I don't think its Idol hate, just the fact that AIE opened quite a few years after American Idol's peak of popularity, so it was seen by many as an odd choice. And while AIE is nicely produced and is a relatively entertaining show, they have struggled to get enough people to participate in the show on a daily basis, for a number of reasons which many people speculated about beforehand. And personally, I find the large screen outside promoting Idol to be loud and obnoxious.

I think ultimately they could have chosen to put something there that had more longevity and a long-lasting appeal. Unless their plan all along was to run the show as long as they could while AI was popular and then change it out... but knowing how they approach $$ that is doubtful and seems more like a misjudgment of the show's popularity.

The nice thing about the AIE is that it's fairly recycle-able. Speakers, speaker cables, monitors, projections, lighting systems and controls, audio control boards, microphones, etc., can all be repurposed easily. Even though it is a nice "tv studio," it struck me as a throw-away setup the first time I walked in.

I don't think its American Idol hate, but it is a couple factors for what is happening with American Idol Experience.

American Idol Experience opened in 2009, that is 2 years after American Idol had its highest season debut rating ever in 2007.

A bigger problem is the age of the viewer audience and this was issue for 2011 at least because the median age. The median age for the 10th season is 47.2 years old and during American Idol's first season, it was 32.1 years old. It caused by the fact American idol isn't gaining a lot of new young viewers. That problem can affect the crowds at American Idol Experience and why Disney cut 2 showings each day starting in late 2010.

Walt Disney World has guests of different ages, but WDW gets a lot of young people also meaning kids and young adults. That means American Idol Experience is not exactly a great fit for who they get for guests including Disney Hollywood Studios considering the median age of an American Idol view is 47.2 years old in 2011. I am not saying every young person isn't going to American Idol Experience, but the young audience isn't into American Idol as it once were. That means Disney probably is starting to realize it now at Disney Hollywood studios.

I never went to American Idol Experience, but that is expected out of me because I never been a fan of the show and I don't like embarrassing myself front of other people. I am a terrible singer and that is a fact based of the fact everyone in the church I go to has to sing the same bible songs together. That doesn't mean I wanted the attraction to fail though because the fact is I never went on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster despite my age. I never wanted Rock 'n' Roller Coaster to go away because I don't go it because I don't like extreme coaster thrill rides.

Even for the people who enjoy the show and want to participate. After the initial "Going to be judged on my talent and skills during vacation" deal there is also the fact that it takes a huge commitment of most people's WDW time. Not everyone are so frequent or local. So you have to commit so much of your day for the encore performance and everything else. People pay a lot for every minute on WDW theme park property.

This show is not going to be missed by too many it seems. There has been a desperate push for it for a long time too. The 'free bonus' Fastpasses distributed at places like Star Tours Fastpass Distribution for certain shows, the Cast Members waving their American Idol Experience signs as people load into Fantasmic etc.

This and the fact that there isn't a real prize or tie-in to the show.

I can't believe AI has an amusement park attraction and they give it absolutely zero airtime. Brilliant job by Disney Marketing!!! I will never understand why a tie-in with the tv show wasn't part of the original agreement.

They needed to make the AI attraction like a year-round audition for the show. Have not only daily competitions, but weekly ones as well. Weekly winners come back for a competition where the top 5 go to Hollywood. And the DHS competition should get one night of airtime on Idol each year.

Well you know we could leave American Idol since it does fit the them of DHS. It's really just a karaoke show. If it wasn't branded by American Idol and called "Hollywood Studios Star Search" or something like that then I bet half the people on these forums wouldn't have that much of a problem. :brick:

I know the first year winning got you an entry into the real AI auditions, have they stopped that?

I just wish they would give it out better prizes like Millionaire did. (e.g. cruises, disney gift cards, unlimited fastpass)

"Woohoo you won a ticket so you can audition, again!"....
