American Adventure Changes

Great. Even MORE stuff to make me get teary-eyed... It's the stuff that's within my own memory (or soon before it) that gets me every time. It starts at Kennedy's funeral with John Jr saluting and doesn't let up from there. I usually pull it together again until Walt Disney and Jim Henson pop up on the screen.

Looking forward to seeing the updated show on my next trip.

Great! Glad to hear the update was well-done. I was hoping they would just extend the current music like they did and not totally re-record the song with different singers.

There were several more, but I don't remember exactly who (it was a long day). In addition, there were a few changes made to the final shot of the montage with the flyover of the Statue of Liberty. There are now semi-transparent images of children waving sparklers around the border of the shot. There are also a great deal of fireworks (I don't remember if there were fireworks to begin with, but if so, there are now a great deal more).

If I recall correctly, the World Trade Center was originally in the background the Statue of Liberty flyover...if this is the same footage, were those "border sparklers" perhaps just added to cover it up? Or maybe I'm imagining the whole thing to begin with...

The World Trade Center towers were front and center on the NYC skyline during that scene originally. The skyline now is very blurred (with the Towers absent) and the fireworks are very crisp and clear. I thought the children images were a little cheesy, but it does pull it all together.

The new version of the song is a great update. I'm so used to singing along, now I have to get used to a new version. :)

Ah, ok. I was sure they were there and was wondering what would be done about them during the update.

Wait--just to clarify, it's not re-recorded vocals, is it? Just an extension of the orchestrations? :lookaroun

I think generally things that deal with 9/11 are usually tacky (boot up the ______ anyone?), but I'll have to see how this goes.

What about more stuff about Google, YouTube, etc? Some real big stuff changing the world.

Um, what does Oprah and Willie Nelson have to do with American History?

Oprah has made more money than any other woman talk show host in American history (which, obviously, is important) and Willie Nelson writes nice "americana" songs and owed a lot of money to the IRS for not paying taxes (when his songs were popular), like a good American should....maybe Oprah was nice enough to pay off his debt.....

Nah....he made a deal and didn't have to pay a lot of his debt back.....MAN....that is ultra-American.....

Maybe I can be Ultra-Amercian....Can anyone tell me how to dump my school loans for about 7.6 percent of what they're worth to the loan company who provided the resource????

I can't wait to see this update. I have been wanting to see a 9/11 update in there. Now, I, too, will be crying even more than I usually do in there.

Google and YouTube are changing the world, sure, and they definitely are exemplary of the kinds of computer-age innovations that Epcot is all about...but in the American Adventure montage? I'm not sure they fit. They aren't really representative of the classic, inspirational "American spirit", at least not in the conventional way the AA montage celebrates.

I think generally things that deal with 9/11 are usually tacky (boot up the ______ anyone?), but I'll have to see how this goes.

I agree with you about 9/11 tributes...for every genuinely moving one I have seen, there are quite a few others that feel contrived to the point of trivializing the actual events of that day. But the AA montage has always managed to be a truly stirring experience, despite the fact that it's coated with a healthy layer of cheese. I have no doubt that the images of 9/11 in the AA update, though they may be accompanied by a clichéd musical arrangement fresh out of the 80s, will be just as stirring an experience simply because they're seen in the context of the American Adventure show, as brilliant, beautiful and tasteful a survey of American history as I've ever seen.

Always great to see this updated to reflect modern history. That show is simply spectacular ine xecution. Very positive, creative, and perhaps the best music on property. I will be interested to see hte update at some point.

I am surprised the internet/computer revolution hasn't gotten more focus. I don't think Bill Gates and his apple and some of the others are in there. Those would (or should) have their moment since they are defining AMerican accomplishments that literally revolutionized the world.

No Colbert! I hate it now. It used to stand for truthiness and Democracy, but now since they left out the greatest figure in modern history it is blasphemous! You can take that new video and put up your hiney!
And with Willie Nelson in there....... first the ice cream, now this?

Presidents

I have the utmost respect for anyone who has held the office of President of the United States, but honestly...George H.W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton weren't part of any major events in the history of the United States. Perhaps one could make the argument of Operation Desert Storm for George H.W. Bush.

But why would they not include George W. Bush in the film if they were already doing an update? Regardless of your feelings about his politics, he lead this nation during the tragedy we faced after the events of 9/11/01. Putting images of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil into the attraction's video and including the images of two modern Presidents, but negating the one who lead us during the time the attacks took place seems negligent at the very least.

I may be wrong, but it comes across almost as if they are playing politics by not including George W. Bush.
