Universal Orlando is the best theme park resort in the world! If you want to go to parks that are old and out dated then fine, go to Disney, if you want newer, better looking, and more advanced theme parks go to Universal. Also if Universal was not here, Disney wouldn't have crap, they would have no reason to. Also tell me something, how does Universal get, #1 theme park, #1 attraction, #1 steel rollercoaster, #1 Theme park restaurant and #1 Entertainment spot if they are so terrible? Tell me how many #1's does Disney have, #1 most borring resort in the world

And you are a member of these forums because...?

psst... it dosn't have best steel coaster, or park, nor is there a best entertainment spot award. Go check out the Golden Ticket awards to find the real winners.

Universal didn't win best food, but hey, Epcot's on that list, and as far as I can tell, they were only in the top 5 in 3 or 4 polls....

Wow, this thread is just too funny. We have both sides of the argument here, folks! Round 2, and fight!(bing noise)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Here goes my 2 cents. I would like to let you know ahead of time that I don't like roller coasters so don't freak out on me if I don't say anything about the Mummy, Hulk, etc.

Personally, I really enjoy both Universal and Disney. I do prefer Disney slightly because, for some reason, Disney has a certain magic that Universal doesn't have. But, I still have a lot of fun at Universal. In my opinion, Universal has many rides that are superior to Disney. These include Spiderman, MIB, BTTF, and Shrek. And Universal's hotels are equal to Disney's deluxe resorts. Plus, the fact that staying at a Universal hotel gives you the Express pass advantage, I definitely think that Universal deserves some recognition here.

Funny thing is that, being a teenager, I am in Universal's target market, yet I prefer Disney. Not that cleanliness would change my opinion(it helps, though), but I guess what I'm trying to say here is we are all entitled to our own opinion and that we shouldn't judge others based on solely that.

Did I have to type all of that to get my last line out? No, but it was fun and I figure, why not? :p

Some people can not seem to grasp this concept without going into all out war.

One park does not have to be better than another......they can just be different.

Michael72688 must be on IOACENTRAL boards more often then right?

-anywho, you are right about being voted best park in the world. but sometimes numbers mean nothing. as long as disney has its four parks, plus water parks, golf courses, many resorts, downtown disney, plus other amenities, i dont think Disney cares b/c they are still making a lot of profit.
-yes Universal Escape is a good 3 day weekend getaway, its the best thrill ride place for all teens and adults (citywalk), and a much more hipper place to hang out at. but what more does it has just 3 days of excitement.
-Disney on the other hand is basically a city resort in which you can easily spend over 2 weeks at. everyone feels more at home at Disney, its a park where "families" bond. where the next destination in the whole resort is just a busride away. you can really live at disney forever.
-but with no further arguements, i am both a annual pass holder for both disney and universal.

Why God? Why another Disney/Universal argument? Don't these people have lives? Hobbies? Something BETTER to do than be in a huge POSING CONTEST? All of you have sunk so low. IS ANYONE REALIZING THAT THIS THREAD IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE AND CAN ONLY LEAD TO TROUBLE? These are all generalizations and opinions! Who cares?! If you're going to argue, then argue with FACTS. If you have strong opinions one way or the other, fine! But don't ruin our day (I'm sure Legacy will agree with me on this) by just coming out and ranting like three-year olds. Now I like Disney more than Universal, but that's just my opinion! Not the opinion of the masses. Which NONE of you people have, either. So stop pretending like you're the be all/ end all of theme park wisdom, and stop wasting other people's time with another lousy Pepsi/Coke argument.

Now, HERE'S the only thing that counts; the ONE FACT that can be used in an argument like this: ALL WDW parks (yes, INCLUDING Animal Kingdom) have higher attendance than EITHER Univesal Orlando park, and it has been that way ever since the parks opened. There. It is PROVEN that the MAJORITY PREFER WDW to UO, and ALWAYS HAVE. End of discussion. The masses have spoken. Now can we please move on?

That's because WDW has more hotels. More hotels = more rooms. More rooms = more guests. If A = B, and B = C, then A must = C. So, more hotels = more guests. Also, Disney simply has more to choose from, so it attracts more guests. Universal still has some stuff that beats WDW, and WDW still has stuff that beats Universal. End of story.

Take a deep breath there, buddy. Two or three people have been throwing around opinion and calling it fact here. The rest of us have been having a pretty calm, rational discussion. Feel free to calm down a bit and join in.

Attendence records don't mean that the majority prefers WDW to UO....

Bingo... attendence records just mean that Disney has a better marketing system and much better name recognition.

Some people think Spiderman, the Hulk and RotMummy are all at Disney. So, they go to Disney. They discover they are wrong, but have already reserved a room at Disney for the week, have 7 day park-hoppers, and dinner reservations. Do you think they are going to go to Universal then? Nope. Universal has to fight the Disney name more than the actual parks (because from a park stand-point, both resorts have the same caliber of parks). Disney has a much more positive connotation, because EVERYBODY has heard of Disney. The Universal Resort is still just 12 years old, compared to WDW which is what... 35? Universal is the new kid on the block compared to ALL the other parks (including Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Six Flags and Ceder Point). Look at it from THAT perspective, and the fact that they are second makes them that much more impressive.

Unless Disney turns around the entrophy occuring in its parks, and Universal its growth, in ten years Universal will the better of the two. However, because Disney is Disney, and to the average guest can do no wrong, it will STILL have better attendance. But Universal doesn't care about numbers. They care about satisfaction. And I'll spend a day walking around USF or IOA anyday (unless I just feel like going to Disney).

I wish more people could just enjoy them both...just because Disney is great doesn't mean that Universal can't be great too.

I personally really enjoy both parks. I like Universal better because I think that they have better rides (Spider-Man and Mummy especially) and I can ride the rides over and over again without getting sick of them. (I've been on Mummy almost 250...it's my favorite!)

But I also really like Disney. It is obviously a more 'classic' place simply because it has been around longer. They also have great attractions I can ride over and over again (like Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain.)

I know that some people might honestly not like Universal for whatever reason, but I also think that some people just assume that Universal is bad before even going there. Just because it isn't Disney some people don't give it a fair chance. :(

That's great about the lines, BTW!!! :)

I just read that thread and man, is that guy incompetent. Note the ScreenName, Nemo88. That leads me to believe that the kid is 15 or 16 years old. He doesn't understand that flume rides have been around since the 20's, shooting (or gallery) rides since the 40's, coasters since the 1800's, dark rides since the turn of the century, carousels (a Disney staple) since the 1800's, 3-D movies since the 60's when the technolgy was first developed (Disney's first was Captain Eo in the 80's)... is there attraction type I'm forgetting. Disney succeeds because it takes familiar concepts and furthered them. That is what Universal has been doing recently, and will continue to do (Please, Jeep Safari).

And the whole "How is the Hulk different?" thing, that's easy. It's the only coaster in the world to utilize an uphill, wheel-driven launch. As a result, it is also the only attraction in the world that actually has its own miniature power plant in the maintainence building to driven the start. If it didn't, the amount of power needed would cause a brown-out over half of Orlando when the a car was launched.

Hope that provides some insight for your argument.

I forgot about the Hulk thing, will definitely use it if he brings it up again.

Oh, and take a look at what another guy is saying....

Universal copied Disney's idea of an indoor, dark rollercoaster with show scenes and LIM launch.

The special effects show Posieden thingy at Universal is an obvious copy of Fantasmic.

The DR. Suess land is very similar to Toontown.

You could say that Universal copied Disney when they made the Incredible Hulk, because it is a tubular steel coaster, which Disney pioneered in 1959 when Matterhorn Bobsleds opened at Disneyland.

Let him know that the Rockin' Roller Coaster is actually a standard coaster design that was simply enclosed. An exact replica of the track layout is in Europe, only outside.
