Am I the only one who doesn't like how all the current lands being built each focus on 1 franchise?

Yeah, I could certainly see the challenge there, though it'd be very nice to overcome the whole problematic theming issue of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor being in Tomorrowland. One can dream.

Laugh Floor definitely should have been in HS from the beginning. It even fits the whole "show business" genre. However, it might also be complicated deciding what would stay where it is, and what belongs in the hypothetical pixar-land. It's Tough to be a Bug seems fine where it is, for example.

I mean, look at Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land! They're being built in HWS, but they both focus on ONE movie franchise. HWS was supposed to be about all movies and their studios and filmmakers! There's a big missed opportunity for SWL and TSL to focus not just on one movie franchise, but also the movie studios that made those franchises, as well as the other franchises they made! SWL could've been George Lucas Land or Lucasfilm Land or something and also had Indiana Jones stuff and they could've ported the IJ ride from DLR (and speaking of IJ, SWL could've also been George Lucas/Steven Spielberg Land, although Spielberg has made a lot more movies with Universal)! Also, TSL could've been Pixar Land! Plus, what does Avatar Land have to do with animals? Aliens? I know I'm nitpicking, but I'm just saying that it just doesn't make sense to make a theme park area focused on one movie franchise. They could've had them focus on the studios and their filmmakers instead (although I know they definitely couldn't do that with Avatar Land (a Titanic ride? Plus, Terminator is not kid-friendly and unfortunately the rights to a Terminator theme park attraction are owned by a certain company obsessed with motion simulators), especially since that's in AK). I'm sorry if I sound like I'm ranting, I'm just sad that Disney's making these upcoming lands like this. I know the rides/lands will be good, I'm just... a little disappointed.

Have you visited either Carsland at DCA, or Diagon Alley in Universal? I have visited both and they are two of the best theme parks experiences I have had. They take of the concept of immersing you in the world of a movie to the next level.

As for what Avatar has to do with animals (or AK for that matter), the movies central theme is living in harmony with and respacing the natural world and what can happen when you don't. It's a perfect fit for the overall theme of Animal Kingdom.

Yes, you are the only one! (jk!) But the Disney MGM Studios was NEVER about all movies and their studios. They partnered with MGM to get some diversity, but it's ALWAYS about Disney! Always!. I'm more concerned about a net loss in attractions, regardless of how wonderfully immersive the new projects will be. The two new attractions per land is the only thing that bothers me about what's being done. Hopefully there will be room left for expansions and more attractions, as opposed to more shops and hot dog carts.

I think an important point is that these lands are, indeed, built on franchises, various movies and/or series, specials, shorts, books or comics...with more creative content to the franchises coming. So if they can come up with more adventures, Rhett should be able to sustain interest in the respective "lands."

Yup, but DHS was supposed to get Monsters Inc. Door Coaster. The Monster Inc. Door almost happened in 2007, but TDO prevented that from happening. The location of Door Coaster is where the 3rd track of Toy Story Midway Mania is.

Monsters Inc. Door Coaster would've been better fit for Pixar Place since Pixar Place already had a Non thrill ride attraction in Toy Story Midway Mania. Pixar Place wasn't meant for to have have multiple attractions for one movie or franchise.

The Star Wars universe is rich enough and broad enough to easily carry it's own land, with a wide variety of attractions possible.

Agreed, Star Wars definitely can carry a land of its own, more so that Harry Potter even in my opinion and they've successfully created two.

At this point, with a fourth Toy Story coming out and the genius of the first three films, I think it has enough material to support a land as well. Hopefully Cars Land comes one day too and that side of the park continues to grow as a Pixar area with multiple lands. Really, I feel like a lot of the classic Pixar stuff is almost strong enough for a land or a mini-land (bugs life, nemo, incredibles, monster's inc).

I think it all comes down to how well it is executed (thematically and $$$), I wouldn't have necessarily thought that Avatar could support a land but the renderings look fantastic.

I personally think Star Wars land is the best way forward for that particular area and will look amazing when it is done.

However I would have preferred a Pixar land rather than just a Toy Story one, then that could be obviously split into 3/4 main franchises with popular draws and at least 1/2 attractions from each. I would personally go for Toy Story, Cars, Wreck it Ralph and The Incredibles.

I do miss the "Studios" element of the park though, the back lot tour was one of my personal favourites and I missed it when I visited in Feb. I was used in the Pearl Harbour thing once and got soaked, was very fun though. For me seeing how big films are made was very interesting and was why this used to be my favourite park. I just hope they fix it and make it what it should be.

This isn't a new gripe.

I basically disagree with their entire creative direction lately.

That's why I slam the people praising Iger for bring "new lands" that haven't even been vetted yet. He dropped the ball on New Fantasyland and everything else has been incremental upgrades (Test Track, losing Maelstrom for Frozen, etc). I am not going to say it's a failure, but the jury is definitely out on what Avatarland, Toy Story, and Star Wars will actually deliver.

I am perfectly fine with it this way. Toy Story has an insane number of fans. Star Wars, forget about it. There are 10s of millions of fans. The place will be packed. I like how they are doing it and it is great.

Star Wars can be its own land because it is such an expansive universe (or galaxy to keep the theme) they created across multiple forms of media.

Though, Toy Story Land would have been nice as a full Pixar Land.

Avatar, well, yeah, I still like the original idea of fantasy creatures, which is a timeless theme and is always relevant in some form of media. Avatar already feels like it lost nearly all of its popularity, in part to Disney's never ending stream of super hero movies and now Star Wars movies.

Not knocking you on this, just the logic, which I've heard over and over again:

They should take one of the empty spaces in World Showcase and make it Star Trek Land where they can have people from all worlds come together in harmony.
