Am I the only one that does this?

When I have some free time at work or just want to relax at home, I will get on Google street view and just "drive" around WDW. I start at the south entrance on World Drive and just cruise around. How Disney crazy is that?

So, google earth street view? I've looked at the 'World from GEarth, but not like this!

EDIT: Google street view doesn't seem to work...top half of the screen is blurred out.

Haven't done that before, but often fly over in Google Earth.

I just tried it, that's a lot of fun! No, you're not crazy.

There are some super vivid pics driving by Downtown Disney!

Thanks for the fun suggestion.

Anyone know how to pump in some humid, warm, green Florida air into a Minnesota winter?

I have wasted many an afternoon putzing around on streetview. I've even turned it into a little scavenger hunt as well. I'm trying to see if I can find a WDW bus for every park and resort. Kind of hard to do because you can't always get a clear view of the bus destination.

Not crazy. In my "down time" I like to explore some of the more inaccessible parts of the property. There's some areas that look like there should be "something" there, but it's just a bunch of sandy trails. (Hmmm.. What's this next to Fort Wilderness?)

I just noticed Google has cross referenced other people's street-level photos to provide a fragmented StreetView within the parks. Zoom in on Magic Kingdom. Drag the orange dude over the park and a bunch of blue dots show up. Drop him on one of the dots and a photo comes up. Move the mouse around the photo and you will find boxes, dots, and arrows to other photos of the surrounding area. You can "walk around" quite a bit of the parks this way. And even ride parts of the rides.

Not old, just vintage.

I've gone for a "drive" around Disney before but I had no idea about the blue dot thing. I see a lot more of my time being wasted on Google Earth now.

You're not alone. I've been doing this for years. Google Earth, Street View, Wikimapia..ect. Personally I fancy Wikimapia the most. All I have to do is type in "Cinderella Castle" and I'm there. Also I am a huge fan of their labeling system. I don't just explore WDW. I "travel" to all of the Disney properties around the world. It's an addiction.

If nothing else I think I need to do this a good 2 weeks before we go again. Maybe we wont have 2 days of re-orientation! Bless those Bus Drivers, they dodge a lot of lost tourists.

I love looking at the water parks from Google earth - MK is mostly the tops of buildings (even the castle is unimpressive from directly above) but the water parks you can totally make out everything - love the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon the best!

If you want to see something really cool, then look at Unversal Studios Florida on Google earth. They have street view inside the park!! It is quite awsome to be able to walk through the parks on google and see all the attractions, shops and restaurants as if you are standing there looking at them. I would love to see Disney do this, but I fear it will not happen or it would have been done already.

Thanks for the tip - I am definitely going to try that! As for WDW - I'll be walking those streets in person in a few weeks! :sohappy:
