Am I a bad person if...

I wouldnt judge, there is very diffirent scenarios that could have happened, do you see tons of terrified freaking out kids in the line to the ride? Some of the line is pretty spooky. Really though, Dinosaur is scarier than tower of terror.

I have a young grandson that disappointed anyone waiting to see him leave upset. TOT is his favorite ride. CMs love trying to get him scared but he loves the drops. went on a number of times. he was a small four year old at the time, he just made the height. he was usually measured 2 or 3 times each ride

I have a habit of lingering a little while at the exit of Tower of Terror and frequently I see parents leave the ride with hysterical children who they lied to, bribed or forced to go on the ride and are now trying to make amends mere moments after the event with a clearly distraught kid. I don't see this happening anywhere else in any of the parks but ToT seems to have this happen a lot. Discuss...or post your little "Am I a bad person if" moments...this could be fun!
If you are a bad person, I am too. When I visit It's Tough to be a Bug, I always sit in the back so that I can watch all of the parents who didn't listen to the warning exit in the middle of the show with crying children.

They never look at Dinosaurs the same way again.......Unless they have seen Jurassic Park...

My daughter rode TOT when she was 3 (yes she has always been very tall), at 3 she loved it, 4 and 5, loved it, 6,7,8, terrified and traumatized, 9 on loves it again, so I am sure I got some looks on those terrified years, I just was of the mindset that she had ridden it before and loved it.

Now my in laws were another story, we all told them RR was not bad (none of us really think it is) they came of very mad and asking us if we were trying to kill them. lol

We took my brother's family to DLP and my SIL had never been on a roller coaster. Managed to get her on BTMRR and she was ok. Went over to the other side of the park and a 5 minute queue for Space Mountain. I told her it was just BTMRR in the dark. For those that don't know, SM at DLP has corkscrews and a vertical loop. On she trots...... That'll teach her for saying I have ugly kids lol.
My 5 year old is a daredevil but I'm one of the more cautious parents when it comes to ToT as it gives me headaches. I have to sit out the ride as my eldest doesn't like heights so I showed my boy the youtube video of what happens and he was raring to go. Absolutely loved it but daddy screamed like a girl.
My youngest is a huge pirate fan though he doesn't like the drop. I thought we had got over it as he was asking to go on the ride. He's 3. I'll let you decide what he thought of the ride, we are back row with my daughter. My 5 year old is in front of me.

My daughter doesn't want to try any new ride. We practically had to drag her hysterically onto Dinosaur, after which (and for 5 more time after that), said, "Let's ride it again!" She wasn't crazy about TOT but EVERYTHING else we've made her ride, she has loved. Sometimes, parents know their kids better than kids know themselves. It's my job to open up her world a little bit. We haven't pushed to on RRC or Space Mtn she wouldn't like them yet- we're not sadistic :)

I was a bad child and tricked my mom into riding BTMRR.

She's NOT a thrill seeker and has never ridden a roller coaster her whole life but for our first ride at WDW (after our traditional train ride) I chose BTMRR, saying how it was just a little faster than the train we had just disembarked. She was hesitant but in the end trusted me and we got in line. She saw the car leaving the platform a few times and I kept saying it was very mild and she would loved it. Well, she kept her eyes shut the whole time and she cursed me a few times but in the end? She liked. It's not something she would do again and again but she said it wasn't as bad as she feared.

Oh, and btw, she rode it again (eyes still closed) and when we got to Universal she rode Forbidden Journey three times! It's now her favorite ride!

So I was a bad child but I introduced my mom to something new and she ended up thanking me later!

My husband, son, and I talked my daughter into riding Jurassic Park at US/IoA. She was terrified and still hasn't forgiven us.

It was during her college break. ;)
Funny, my mom really enjoys Jurassic Park. She says the worst part is the fall but she closes her eyes and laugh hysterically when it's over.

She likes dark rides and even dark tame coasters (she doesn't ride them if there are inversions or if they have a quick launch, like SM or RnRC and I'm always truthful when saying what the ride does and doesn't do) and she'll even do a few drop rides if she's in the mood.

My 4 yo DD was about riding TOT until she saw it in person. We did not make her go though. I did have to convince her to get on BTMRR and weirdly Buzz Lightyear. We got to the front of the line on Buzz and she froze and said she didn't want to go. I'm not sure why. I just picked her up and put her in the car.

No not at all :D. A couple of months ago when we were at Uni, an older brother (maybe 16-17)was taking the younger brother (10 max) on Hulk. The little kid was scared out of his mind in line. We were in the same train (lucky us). So when the ride was over I hear hysterical crying while we were waiting in line to unload. When we got off, this kid had thrown up, peed, and pooped himself. The Older kid was on the phone with what sounded like his mom explaining that they had to stop at the resort before dinner. I wasn't laughing at the little kid (what a freaking mess), but every time I think of the older kid I giggle. I bet he go into a lot of trouble!

I still close my eyes at the end- well ok, most of the inside my eyes are closed:oops:. But the boy loves it, so I must push on through. They look so real

I thought I was going to be labeled the bad cousin when my cousin turned 6 and wanted to go on RNRC and Tower of Terror. I was 18 and no one else wanted to go on it. He just BARELY made the height requirement and honestly, I think he might have just been a millimeter shy but oh well! I asked him about 20 times "Are you sure you want to do this?" and I made sure everyone around me heard me ask this and heard him say "YES! YES!!!" in a super excited voice so they would know I wasn't dragging him onto the ride. We did RNRC first and I thought through the whole ride "oh my god, he is going to hate this! He's going to hate me! He's going to fall out!!" When the ride ended we got out of the coaster and he yelled and jumped up in the air "That was AWESOME!!!" We did Tower after that and he loved it too.

The first time I did tower I was 12. My Mom, grandmother and grandfather had gone on and said it wasn't bad. I get really freaked out at drop rides so I asked them specifically when we would drop. They all told me "when the doors open, you drop a little, then you drop one full drop and then its over" (this was when there was only one full drop) So my sister and I waited in line and got on the ride.... The only thing is, they forgot to tell me about the drop after the elevator moves forward (the part now where you either go up or down first) so I wasn't holding on because I wasn't expecting it. I started screaming and crying. It was awful. I hate being scared and since I wasn't aware we were going to drop before the doors opened, I wasn't prepared. I got over it though and we ended up walking onto it 6 times in a row before the park closed that night with all 7 of us and now it's my favorite ride! :)

I am 19 and went on only a couple of years ago and still refuse to talk to my parents about making me go on the ride…

Maybe I'm evil, but for me this was always just a part of growing up. I mean I've been on both sides of the coin... I was terrified to ride the racing wooden roller coaster at my local amusement park... My parents and older siblings coerced me to ride against my will and I came off and probably ended up riding 5 more times that day. I fibbed and begged a younger cousin to ride the parachute ride at my local amusement park and again against much resistance she ended up loving and it begged to do it over and over again... I went to Disney with my niece and nephew probably 4 and 6 at the time and they were crying, begging and pleading not to ride Pirates... the had ridden it the trip before and loved it... We weren't having that and forced them to ride and of course they loved it again... My niece asked me to take her to a local haunted house and then when in line was crying she didn't want to do it (age 12)... again... I wasn't having it .... she enjoyed it and wanted to go back in....

I think it's all about what the individual can handle and sometimes it's about testing the waters...I mean I don't think you should force your 6 year old to ride The Hulk or Rockin Roller Coaster... but if the same 6 year old is refusing to ride Pooh's Honey Potts or The Land out of fear of the unknown I think it's ok to coerce them to giving it a try to the point of basically forcing them to ride ... Chances are they are going to love it and their confidence will increase when they realize that they can handle it.. Plus i kind of understand the frustration... trips to Disney aren't' cheap and for a lot of people can be a once in a child hood experience... So if you get there and your 8 year old is refusing to ride anything I can see why you might want to convince them otherwise.

Granted I've seen the ugly side... coercing a 3 y/o to ride the Pirate Ship at a local amusement park and him crying for 10 minutes after it was over... and begging someone who gets motion sickness to ride the "Enterprise" and them throwing up upon exiting the ride ... lol

I see that on Haunted Mansion as well. Children voicing anxiety about the spooky load-on area and parents ignoring them or insulting them. Ticks me off. Kids' fears should be taken seriously!

Depends on the kid after a week in the parks riding "spooky" rides my DD froze at the load area to Buzz Lightyear for some reason. She looked at me and said I don't want to go. I just picked her up and said you'll be fine and she was. I know my kids and there was no reason she should be scared of that ride. Once she was on she was fine. Voicing anxiety is different then truly scared. Insulting them is not okay though.
