We had to bribe our 5 year old to ride Dinosaur this year! I was very proud of him that he went on, didn't cry or close his eyes the whole ride, but once we were off and asked him if he wanted to ride it with mommy now and go on again, he said "I think once is enough"

Every child is different, for my 5 year old, he has never been to keen on trying new experiences, even ones we know he will like. We have made him go on rides before but dinosaur was probably the scariest thing we have asked him to go on so far. He loves BTMR and TT though!

Kids are different. My first visit was in 1984 with my mom, my grandma, and my little brother. I was six. It's an easy year to remember, because it was right around Donald Duck's 50th birthday. I was frightened by the Snow White ride, Mr. Toad, and maybe Peter Pan (I don't think they even attempted to take me on the Haunted Mansion). I did, apparently, ride IASW three times. Nowadays, even once is enough to set my teeth on edge.

We went on Tower of Terror as a family. At the time my kids were 9,6, and 4. They all wanted to go. The 9 year old had been numerous times. The 6 year old loved it. When the doors to the elevator closed, the 4 year old slumped down in her seat and laid her head on my husbands lap. She hated it. She still talks about never riding it again. I'm sure she will change her mind eventually but it's never been my favorite ride either.

Well I am one of those horrible parents. I have always made my children, or anyone that choses to come with us, ride a ride at least once and then if you chose you didn't like the ride you don't ever have to ride again. The main reason is because, I never want them to run from their fears. It has been our experience that if they face it head on they find out that there really was nothing to be afraid of. After several years of going to Disney World I felt it was time for my sons to try TOT. I literally had to drag my then 9 year old son on the ride. The whole time in line he is having a small panic attack. I'm sure that everyone thought that I was a horrible mother. As suspected, my son survived the ride and got off saying, "that wasn't so bad". He decided he didn't want to go on it again during that trip, but on our next trip, he and my other son rode 10 times in a row. If I had not forced him to face that fear he may have never even tried it. I agree with the previous poster, we know our children better than anyone. Try not to judge until you know the circumstances.

On a side note: My children returned the favor and turned my own rule back on me. When Mission Space first came out I was reluctant to ride because I have really bad motion sickness. I was reminded by my children that my rule was, "you "have" to ride it once and if I didn't like it I never have to ride again"!! Well, I rode it and was sick as a dog for a few hours afterwards. Karma is ruthless!!!
