Alright Horizons buffs, I've got a question...

Okay, I had a thought that hit me on my 5am commute this morning...

As we all know, Horizons is somewhat of a continuation with the beloved family from Carousel of Progress. Well, I know that's not literal because the narrator/father would have been OLD. Anyhow, in my mind I always experience Horizons as it being the same family.

I love how they made the daughter go from being a 'teeny bopper'ish girl obsessed with boys and vanity in CoP to an Agricultural Engineer in Horizons.

Anyone want to explain to me how the 'continuation' of the family works or it was ever even truly explained as such? Martin? :D

GE themselves liked to call Horizons the CoP part 2: The Next Generation. Whilst the family themselves wern`t literally the same ones from the CoP, the storyline idea was. I liked how the different members were brought together by technology, and the underlying spinoff story lines throughout the show - daughter on the hologram phone, then daughter `for real`, TomII never making it to the party, despite promising to get the last flyer out, baking the birthday cake several scenes before the party - and then the chance to travel through each of these scenes in the finale. Such a well written script with a solid ending (and that was just the second half of the attraction...)

Okay, random Horizons question here.

When I was on the TTA, I noticed that when we went through one of the buildings, there was a woman getting her hair done in a space age looking contraption. I think there may have been a robot nearby that reminded me of Rosie on the Jestons, but that may have been from another place and I'm mixing it into the TTA scene. It looked so familiar, but yet I hadn't been on this ride in probably close to 20 years.

Was this scene originally in Horizons?

^ The Robida Flats scene had a man lying in a chair having his shoes buffed (with a flow of cold air too) and his hair cut by robot - whilst above his head was an arm holding a dome - the Tan-O-Matic sun tan machine, which looked similar to a barbers hair dryer.

And yes, Horizons wasn`t rehabbed since Eisner rejected the plans saying they were too expensive with no sponsor.

They should TOTALLY move some of the Horizons robots on the TTA.
If faulty memory serves me correctly, one of the Horizons AAs was just sitting around nekkid at the WDW Animatronics shop as late as September 2004. We saw it on Backstage Magic. Couldn't tell a think about it, other than it had a stencil on there saying Horizons and giving some kinda code number.

Hi All!

I was watching a youtube video of Horizons last night that was originally shot in 1984. In 1984 I was but a wee Lil Spark (only 1 year old :o) so my earliest recollection of Horizons was around 1987ish. I actually had the narration and such memorized by age 7, but while I was watching the 1984 video I realized that some of the narration was different.

I can't link to youtube from work, but I'm guessing that's my video. Nice to see WDWMagic members checking them out.

I'm still amazed at the amount of hits on a few of them.

It IS your video I was watching when I did my initial post!

Thanks so much for uploading that to youtube. You've brought me countless hours of entertainment and nostalgia.

Again, thank you.
