Which is better for Garden View room. DD 11, DS 6 ...thank you...Any room request you have asked for and gotten? Are corner rooms better?

It kind of depends on which theme you want. Magnolia is more Old South plantation-like and Alligator is more bayou like. Both are pretty. I didn't request either as it didn't matter to me and I got Alligator and I was very pleased, it seemed prettier to me.

I like Alligator Bayou more. It has a great rustic and natural feel to it. The Mansions a little too prim and proper for my taste. The only problem with Alligator Bayou is it is kind of easy to get turned around as the wildness of the landscaping adds a little challenge to navigating.

I like Alligator better, too. It really is just a personal preference, though. Look at the rooms online and see which ones you like better, so you can request what you want.

But remember that requests are not always able to be fulfilled. You might request one and get the other. I've skipped POR for that very reason.

We enjoy AB too. We like the more rustic feel. Also, corner rooms seem to be bigger. I don't know if they are or not. You do have a two windows in a corner instead of the one.

This past May was our first stay at a moderate resort. We stayed at Alligator Bayou due to the fact that I have five in my family. We loved the feel of this resort. However, as stated from others, it is a personal preference. (P.S. We are from Louisiana and love the atmosphere of Alligator Bayou, truly authentic).

We stayed in Alligator Bayou for our first visit in 2006 and fell in love. After trying a few other resorts we made reservations for later this year at PORS and requested AB again. I put in a request for building 38. It is a garden view but not preferred so it didn't cost as much but still pretty close to the main pool and food court. I think i will also call and put in a request for a corner room also. Why not...a girl can try.

As much as I love my Disney Hubby, I have to vote for the Magnolia Bend area. The Bayou rooms were pretty, but walking through the pathways at night with the lower lighting and the wildlife making all kinds of noises gave me the creeps!!!! Also I do tend to get turned around in that area of the resort as Master Yoda mentions, so that didnt help any!!! Either way you will be staying at a great resort and will have a wonderful time!!! we stayed in Alligator last fall and LOVED it. The ambiance was wonderful. I really felt like the rooms had a ton of great character, though I admit to only seeing youtube tours of Magnolia.

Also keep in mind the Magnolia Bend area is where all of the Royal Guest Rooms are located so it may be tougher to get into a regular room in those buildings as well. Marie

Extactly so ISTC, exactly half of the rooms at Magnolia Bend are Royal Guest Rooms. I have stayed in them and they are GORGEOUS. I expecially love the golden colored fixtures in the vanity and bathroom areas and the fireworks in the Bayou in the headboards of the beds.
Care to expound on the legend of the Chupacabra, ISTC?? Marie

We stayed in Alligator Bayou because we thought the more rustic, subtly "Princess and the Frog" theming would be more enjoyable for our kids. (We loved it, too!)

The plantation buildings are beautiful, but we liked the lush surroundings of Alligator Bayou and the more colorful rooms, and would gladly stay there again. We had a garden view room near (but not on) a corner, and the view outside was of lush greenery and trees. Even though there was another building beyond it, the foliage was dense that we couldn't see it.

I am shocked and delighted to see how many people prefer AB now! For a long time, I was alone in that.

I haven't stayed in the Princess/Frog rooms, though.
