Six Flags has seemed to file plans for an RMC Raptor coaster for 2021!

That would explain the survey markers from Green Lantern to Perilous Plunge and near Justice League are for. That whole area becomes an out and back coaster. The markers were talked about on Theme Park Obsession back in February.

I wonder how many people lost or pinched fingers in the multi-spinning disc ride. They had shoot the rapids rides where no one wore seatbelts or life vests. Odds were the boat would flip when it hit the water. Our great grandparents had all the fun dangerous rides.
My aunt, when she was a child, broke her collarbone when she was flung off the disc in the Funhouse at SF’s old Playland. And in those days no one sued for stuff like that—It was all “Use at your own risk.” Decades later, I enjoyed that Funhouse in its final years. Loved it to bits, but even back then I’d wonder how many people had fallen or stumbled on the various moving hinged floors, discs, spinning cylinders (the “human laundry”) etc. and really hurt themselves.

There was actually a ramp with a floor made of roller skate-like wheels. In a factory, it would be used to slide a package down. But here the object was to walk up the rollers while gripping the side handrails. Without killing yourself. I guess, in a way, it’s not that far removed from today’s climbing walls and rope courses, but back then there were no spotters or harnesses; just you vs. physics, and if you got hurt, well, you knew what you were getting into. 😃

I think back then it was harder to sue an amusement park for a dangerous ride. There were no state or federal guidelines amusement parks had to follow therefore they were not liable for injury. A lot of the amusement parks were traveling so if you got hurt, they handed you some free tickets and then disappeared into the night. That was a time if you got hit by a car or carriage, it wasn't the driver's problem.

Everytime I've been since after that ride opened it has been not working. Personally I wish they had just kept the Batman stunt show. It was great.

I remember the Batman Forever stunt show but I didn't know there was a Batman Begins version too. I guess the show originally went with Riddler's Revenge. It's weird that the props for the show are in a junk yard next to Apocalypse. They used that junk yard for a zombie maze a few times.

>>“As a unique combination animal and thrill park, it is incredibly special and important to receive this designation from American Humane.” said Dianne Cameron, animal care director, at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. “This certification further establishes our commitment to providing the highest standards of care for the animals at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.”

Humane Certified is the first program solely devoted to helping verify the welfare, well-being and demonstrably humane treatment of animals living in zoos, aquariums, and conservation centers across the globe. The program enforces rigorous, science-based and comprehensive criteria for animal welfare, developed by an independent Scientific Advisory Committee comprised of world-renowned leaders in the fields of animal science, animal behavior, and animal ethics.

As a result of meeting the many outcomes-based welfare requirements involved by the program, Discovery Kingdom is joining a select group of 28 leading U.S. institutions to qualify for this prestigious certification.<<

As a Discovery Kingdom pass holder, half the time we go there's a line of animal rights protestors on the sidewalks heading in.

My kids, 8 year old twins, enjoy the animals as much as the rides.

Six Flags should learn a thing or two from Disney or even Universal but mostly Disney on how to make a proper character suit and not like a Halloween costume. I wouldn't want to take a picture of them if ever they were doing meet and greets.

Do you guys think less performing Six Flags parks will close? I mean Magic Mountain is their flagship park and most popular but they ain't getting the attendance level they want especially last year, what more those other parks.

Most Six Flags parks are not open the entire year. Magic Mountain is the only one that is 365. I think closing a park will depend on property values in that area. Six Flags is in the middle of revitalizing Magic Mountain and they are working their way around the backside of the park. Magic Mountain won't be closing anytime soon. They might trade some parks with Cedar Fair.
