All things Knotts Berry Farm

I guess I can understand that. It just ventures into this weird territory of "why even have the rides if people will show up anyway" thinking. I think we all probably suspected the bar was pretty low when the popcorn buckets were generating two hour waits... just sort of hoped it wasn't so low people would show up even without the buckets.

Although I do seem to remember that Knott's was always a bit of a weird duck in this category. I don't know if they still do it, but I seem to remember they used to do the Christmas Craft Fair where you could pay a small fee (like $5) to enter Ghost Town and walk around the shops and stalls. They were still catering to the older demographics that wanted to walk around without paying for rides they wouldn't want to ride anyway.
I think it's a short term mentality for both Knott's and guests. Once Knott's opens, I doubt the average guest would be willing to pay these prices when they could spend a little more and get on to rides. This strategy is only as good as parks have to be closed.

Yeah that's what I am hoping as well. It also didn't hurt that for awhile Knott's really was the only game in town. Things might be radically different when people can just walk into Downtown Disney and buy some popcorn from a cart in Buena Vista Street.

I also really wonder how long Knott's would be able to keep up with the food events. The holidays (fall weather) usually induces more eating, so food festivals make sense. But after New Years?

So with the success of these "Taste of" events, does this mean the fort knotts project isn't canceled? If it is still canceled can we know what it was gonna be? An intamin blitz? A wacky shack? A pick-your-own boysenberry patch?

OK, the Knott's project hasn't been cancelled. It was supposed to be announced when Knott's Bear-y Tales opened on Media Day.

It has been placed on hold, and my guess, it will happen once the parks chain wide are operating at Full Steam and revenues return to normal.

One of the goals of the Project was to expand in space to increase capacity limits, and to add additional Food and Merchandise options, along with a few attractions. One was rumored to be a roller coaster.

The Rumors talked about the area being called Fort Calico, and would take over some of the backstage area on the south side of the park.

Mystery Lodge was supposed to be the entrance area, to tie in Calico River Rapids theming.

Knott's actually hinted to Fort Knott's in the last Ghost Town Alive scripts in 2019, so a strong rumor.

As with any large project, what actually was green lighted changed every so often, and never was 100% locked down.

So my guess, when the park needs more capacity, we shall see Fort Calico.

Until then, minor new things each summer. In 2021 (hopefully), the 100th Anniversary and Bear-y Tales. Something in 2022, but doubtful it will be Fort Knott's, unless the rides have been actually purchased.

First I've heard of this project, sounds great but I'd really love a well done dark ride vs another coaster but that's not really Knott's selling point. Coasters and thrills.

Knott's desperately needs a high capacity coaster that lasts more than a minute. Most of Knott's coasters are far too short considering how long and slow moving the lines are for them.

They’re not alone with that issue, and better than many. Ghost Rider’s a good long ride. Silver Bullet, Hangtime, Coast Rider and Sidewinder are about the same length as others of those types around the world, and Xcelerator has a more generous layout than any other strata coaster type. Jaguar’s not great, but it’s long. Montezooma is a classic that’s perfect as is. Pony Express is the only one that’s offensively brief. But I don’t think many would mind losing Jaguar, Sidewinder, Coast Rider and Pony Express in exchange for a single new, good, long well-themed family coaster.

One thing I want to try after Planet Coaster arrives on consoles (next week!!!): Recreate Knott’s Boardwalk area and upload it to the game’s online workshop. Then try retheming/landscaping the land without moving or eliminating a single ride and invite other players to try the same.

My Mrs Knotts dinner reservation for the 27th (more than 3 weeks out) was canceled over the phone due to the safety orders.

Yeah... about the only good news here is that Knott's still employs phone operators instead of just pushing out a cancellation via App from some tech center in Bangalore.

I'm surprised Mrs Knotts closed entirely and doesnt offer takeout.
The Chicken To Go is open, and has added items since March, such as Pot Pies.

The Bakery next door offers Pies and other goodies.

So most Mrs. Knott's menu items are still available, but packaged to go. You can even order ahead and drive your car behind Peanuts HQ where an associate will place it in your vehicle.

This is great. Will try and stop by either this or next weekend...maybe the latter for my birthday.
