Is the Preserved show going to stick around, or is it just there for Boysenberry Festival?I went friday and saturday to Knotts. The Knotts Preserved show is pretty good. They split the show into Ghost Town, Painted Desert, Gold Mining/ LumberJacks and Pikes Pier Roaring Twenties with musical numbers for each. I really liked the cowboy shoot out / fight dance routine to Ghostriders in the Sky. It reminded me of a old west version of the Jets vs the Sharks. The Pike's Pier roaring twenties dance sequence was a little weird and kind of lost the heavily Hispanic audience. Over all it was a pretty decent show with lots of songs you don't hear much anymore.
Festival Village you can walk from one end to the other now. Everything is still behind walls. Montezuma's track is completely gone.
Just Boysenberry Festival. Is the Preserved show going to stick around, or is it just there for Boysenberry Festival?
Starting to get the sense that I won't get to ride Montezuma this summer. I'm going to be there in mid-July, so HOPEFULLY it'll be open, but it seems like it's going pretty glacially so far.
Something wrong with Knotts and coaster maintenance, I go maybe once every 5 years, and the only time I saw Xcellerator operating was 15 years ago.Just Boysenberry Festival.
Summer Nights will have a rotation of live rock bands. They might have a stage show in the Walter Knott theater.
Montezuma is suppose to open this summer. Magic Mountain can put up a coaster in a couple of months. I don't see why Knotts couldn't get it reinstalled in a month. It's all off site fabrication anyway. This isn't Disney that takes five years to build a simple coaster.
Xcelerator is a special case that I wouldn't really blame Knott's for. The ride's manufacturer, Intamin, is known for building rides that are flashy and thrilling, but also notably prone to issues that can be difficult to fix or require special parts that take a long time to manufacture. Intamin was also infamous for introducing a lot of tech that was needlessly complicated and fragile from a technological standpoint-overengineered-which only exacerbates these problems. Xcelerator is far from the only Intamin ride to suffer frequent or ongoing ride closures-Kingda Ka, El Toro, and many many others have had incidents over the years in addition to Xcelerator.Something wrong with Knotts and coaster maintenance, I go maybe once every 5 years, and the only time I saw Xcellerator operating was 15 years ago.
The other times I went a Knotts employee said something about the ride waiting for parts that were ordered.
Xcelerator also had an incident where a part hit a boy and his father, and it failed to go over the hill. There's actually a video of it online.Xcelerator is a special case that I wouldn't really blame Knott's for. Xcelerator is also being affected by what's happened with Top Thrill Dragster at sister park Cedar Point, given that they use extremely similar technology and launch systems (Xcelerator was essentially built as a trial run for TTD, which at the time it opened was the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster); Dragster suffered a significant incident in 2021, in which a small metal part attached to the bottom of the train flew off the ride and hit a guest. While Cedar Point wasn't found to be at fault for the incident by the state or others who investigated the accident, Dragster has been closed ever since and it's clear that they're in the process of talking with other companies to try and replace the launch system and other components with something safer and more reliable. Since then, a great deal of track has been removed and there has been much rumbling online about potential changes that will make the ride viable for the park going forward.
Given the way Cedar Fair works, it wouldn't surprise me if Xcelerator remains down until CF feels like they have found a solution for Top Thrill Dragster that they're happy with; although what happened with TTD was very much a freak accident, they are a very conservative, safety-focused company that may not want to take any chances considering the similarities between the two rides and the numerous incidents both have suffered over the years.
Don't know. The lift hill was pretty torn up last week. I'll check it out tonight.Does anyone know when the Timber Mountain Log Ride will reopen from its refurbishment?
Thank you so much for checking and helping me plan or set expectations for my next visit. I appreciate you.Just walked pass the Log ride. It is still down. It looks like they are reducing the lift hill and rockwork at the bottom of the flume. No visible changes in the last couple of weeks.
I think that's a real shame since kids and teenagers need freedom and things to do instead of being cooped up in a house.
I know they've been having fights break out, though, so I understand why.
Just a shame it has had to come to this, but it's more a reflection of societal issues it seems.
