I don't know why but for some reason I had a huge rush of Jungle Cruise questions that I want to ask.

1) Does anyone know what the basic script is for the Jungle Cruise Ride?(I know they may adlib, but I just wonder what is official)

2) Is the Disneyland version basically the same?

3) Has the WDW version changed from Park Opening time much? If so, does anyone have that version?

4) Does anyone knoew the original speil on the DL version way back when the ride first opened?

5) Do most of the corny jokes translate well for foreign visitors?

6) Are their any current plans to update, upgrade this attraction?

Check souvenier videos. Actually, Skippers are supposed to give the scripted version - no longer do they make up their own jokes! :(

Basically. The queue is much different, but Disneyland's JC does not have the cave.

I don't think it has changed that much. I do know that they rid of the shooting of the hippos...and several violent animal scenes, i.e. tiger kits fighting over Zebra skin...

Check old episodes of Disneyland...or the record. Now that Vault Disney is off the air, I'm not sure where you could find it...

As for your other questions, I'm not sure. However, most jokes can't be translated as they're puns on English language. Yeah, it stinks. But I am sure with several there are translation means.

As for the refurbishments, there was rumor as to a "George of the Jungle Cruise," but this idea has failed.

Hope this helps!! :D

Ooooh! I knew about the Gun thing, but I didn't know about the Zebra and Cubs. Is this a fairly recent change. It's basically a fact of life. Of course guns to ward off Hippos is a reality too. Why must we change the truth to make the world seem candy coated? At least I can understand the guns (Crocodile Hunter helps in that regard, even if Steve is crazy  ). But to eat is a basic fact of life.

What is the queue for DL Jungle Cruise like? Do they have the campy radio reports still?

I've never been to Disneyland, but I've been told it's a double decker. There are 2 AAs (a cheetah and a bird, I believe) and there is much more theming. I believe it is much cooler than WDW's!!

I just returned from Disneyland and found many changes from the "world" version. To clarify one thing, the lion cubs fighting over the zebra is still there. The new joke was "Look kids, those lions are watching over the sleeping zebra.". I did also notice a joke that was not there before. For every animal the person said "this animal can grow to 5000 lbs, leap over 20 feet and it is the only animal in the jungle who can do this." He must have said this for 3 or 4 different animals, including the girls that help you out of the boat at the end. I thought it was very funny. OTher than that it was basically the same, Sweitzer falls, back side of water , you thought it was water, but it's snot. All the familiar ones are there. We enjoyed our Skipper very much even though we had heard the routine hundereds of times before.

Oh...we had "That animal over there - we call her Eena. Everyone, say 'Hi, Eena!' "...or when the elephant used to spray us, "You might think that's water. It's not."

Question for you - did you see the ENCHANTED TIKI ROOM while at Disneyland? If so, how were crowds - and also, any nice refurbishments? Did the hosts get new AAs? Thanks! :)

I'd say 80 to 90% of them cannot be translated, and I'd also say that about 90 to 100% of them require a good understanding not only of language but vocabuary and culture in order to make sense for those international Guests who can speak English.

There is nothing more fun that taking a group of non-English speaking people on a trip through the Jungle. I could tell them about my weekend and they wouldn't know the difference.

Hell, my name is Wahoo and I will be your stripper, er, I mean skipper, alligator wrestler and quite possibly your swimming instructor on this 3 hour tour that can only happen here in the Magic Kingdom. Before we begin I want you to raise your right hand a repeat after me....

I hope........

we make........

it back...........!

We begin our adventures in the deepest, darkest part of South America on a river they call the jungle sea: The Amazon. Everything about the Amazon is larger than life including these butterflys on both sides of the boat. Take a look at their wingspans. They can grow anywhere from 12 inches all the way up to a whopping 1 foot!

The Amazon carries more water than any other river in the world and that is largely due to waterfalls like these. Everybody say oooohhhhh. Everybody say aaaahhhhh. Hey, don't act so excited.

(I worked there in 1992 and I still have the script memorized. Think I went around that jungle one too many times?)

The way I understand it (I have a few friends who are skippers) They can still make different jokes and personalize it. They need to make it all theres. Of course I could be wrong cause I am not a skipper.

Hey Grizz,

Of course I hit the Tiki room, and crownds were o.k. I suppose I was in about a half full show for the first show of the day. The Tiki room isn't in a place we passed very often so I don't know how many people lined up before other shows. I absolutely loved the show. My son loved it as well. Everyone sang along and clapped, it was a lot of fun. I'm not sure about the hosts and new AA's. Mostly becuase I'm not sure what you were asking. Everything seemed very well timed and in sync for the whole show. I wish they would have never changed the one in Disneyworld now that I have seen the origianl again. I did think of you as I went by where the country bears used to be, (Now Winnie the Pooh), and it was hard to even tell that the jamboree was ever there. The Pooh ride, which is not open yet, looked really different in the queue from the one in Disneyworld. (You could see bits and pieces from Splash Mountian). Disneyland really needed a major crowd getter back in critter country though, maybe this will keep the crowds around New Orleans square a little more diminished when it is done.

Sorry for the drift.

Did you work any other rides?

If so, which did you prefer most?

Surely being a cruise skipper m ust be one of the hardest as you've got to get the crowd going?

I have a question/comment to add. I have the radio broadcast that's played in the queue on tape and I listen to it all the time. A part of the broadcast mentions "The Temple of the Forbidden Eye". When we went to MK last time 6 months ago I asked the skipper if the cave area we were in was the Temple of the Forbidden Eye and he said no, that is not in this area. I know he was sort of trying to stay in character but I was sort of disappointed. If that cave area with the face is not the Temple then where is it?

I believe that has to do with the Indianna Jones ride that is right beside the Jungle Cruise at DL. Is this a WDW version of the radio broadcast you are listening to, or did Disney just leave that little flub in hoping no one would notice?

Hmmmm I guess I don't know. The person who gave it to me told me it was recorded from WDW, but I don't know the person "in real life" so who knows? I listened to the recording in the queue the last time we were there and it did sound exactly like the recording I had at home, but I did not listen specifically for the Temple part either.

So the recording at DL sort of makes a nod to the attraction next to it--the Indiana Jones ride? That's neat!

THe temple of the forbidden Eye is indeed the Indiana Jones ride at DL. WDW obviously doesn't have that ride and the radio broadcast was most likely entended for DL to push the temple and link the to rides.
