All the old animantronics what do they do with it all

WDI are diehard packrats. There are dozens of warehouses in Florida and California with old junk that will likely never be used again. Ride vehicles, show elements, costumes, monorails, etc. have all been sighted in off site storage. Anything that gets tossed out (such as Horizons animatronics) is in really bad shape and not servicable for future use.

The mechanics and control elements such that would be used in animatronic figures have come a long way since Horizons was built. I'd much rather see them build new props for future attractions than re-use old inferior figures.

Thats a bit sad that all of those anamatronic figures from horizons got junked, (And not sold to collectors.) But maby it was a bit nice, since then disney would have to make new ones instead of using the old ones, like how WOMs. some are in POTC, some in a wearhouse.

OK, first off those were NOT animatronics, those were fish on a string. Second, I saw a picture at some point of a warehouse backlot area with a few subs, some iceburgs and a couple other props. I dunno where it was though.

I would think that even if the animatronics were defective, Disney could still sell them to people. Seing some of the die hard fans on these boards, I would think more than a few fans would be willing to pay for an actual AA from a Disney ride. I know one of teh AAs in Horizons was modeled after an Imagineer that worked on the ride, so I wouldn't be surprised if he came back and snuck it home after they dismantled it.

It's a shame. I hope at least parts are preserved. They'd be hot sellers on Disney Auctions...

I can just picture the young swimmer and a seal in my living room! :)

Many of the animatronics from 20'000 Leagues Under The Sea were sadly destroyed in 1995 when the attraction was being gutted. But I have some information that you may be interested in. One of the giant squids was saved from certain destruction, and is now owned by a Disney cast member. One ship from the graveyard of lost ships was also saved, and even more surprising, the head of one of the sea serpents was taken by a collector before it was destroyed. Lastly, one of the divers and the shark was sold on Ebay. Unfortunately, the remaining animatronics such as the mermaids are now lost...

Answering the rest of your question, none of the animatronics have been known to have been re-used in other Disney attractions.

I hope that this information is good and has satisfied your curiosity.

Nothing like reviving old threads. Most of the people who responded to the thread back in 2002 are no longer part of the forums. If this person's curiosity wasn't satisfied seven years ago, then I don't think they are sitting around waiting now.
