All Star Sports Review

Considering this is the value resort for Disney - I expected exactly what I got. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a coffee maker - I thought that was standard in all hotel rooms?

Anyway, the resort itself is beautifully maintained. The front desk staff and all the staff at the resort were excellent and made my stay that much more worthwhile. One complaint about the foodcourt, there are no choices what so ever besides the typical burger, hot dog and pizza (the day I did get it - it was terrible). Also, they do not give a lot of fries with entree dishes, just about as much they will fit in the tray after they have placed the entree.

The room was perfect. Again, for what we paid, I expected no more (except a coffee pot). Housekeeping was great - no complaints. The walls are thin and you can hear every toilet flush - but not a concern of mines.

My only problem occurred the night before we checked out. A cheerleading competition was taking place the weekend we were leaving and the people who were participating arrived the day before we left. That night, about 20 competitors were in the courtyard cheering, screaming, drinking - this lasted for a period of time until I called the front desk and complained. Security immediately removed them.

Overall, excellent time on Disney property as always!!!

the only issue I had with the All Star Sports was that I was in the football section and every morning I woke up to people screaming and playing on the little field.

I understand its Disney and you wake up early but some of us tend to drink while on vacation and do not like hearing nonstop screaming starting at 7am.

But it was great...esp the price

No offense but I can see happening at any of the value resorts, hence they are more family oriented. If I was you, I would not consider staying at a value resort in the future and see how it plays out. Chances of this happening IMO, are a lot less if at all.

I've woke up to children running down the hall screaming with excitement at AKL. It isn't a problem that is isolated to the Values. When you are at a place that caters to families like Disney does, it will happen anywhere you stay.

Agreed. I just have learned to be a heavy sleeper. I know my sister sometimes travels with earplugs just to be sure.

I really didnt let it bother me too much. It was the only place available and like I said it was the right price.

I would have preferred a room not right on the field...because $2 dollar long islands make me want to sleep in...for a long time

The Specialty Shop until 10PM
Baked Chicken Platter (Dinner Only)
Roast Turkey Platter (Dinner Only)
Grilled Salmon Salad (Dinner Only)
Chicken Quesadila
Turkey and Muenster on Focaccia
Ham and Salami on Ciabatta

The Pizza Shop until Midnight
Chicken Penne Alfredo
Pasta with Meatballs
Chicken Caesar Salad
Hot Italian Sandwich

Yup. All Value and Moderate food courts offer foods like these in the afternoon and dinner time. Slight variations dependant on the Resort, but the food courts do offer more than the standard fried fare. And these options are really pretty good.

Excellent resort. We have stayed there twice. I dont have one single complaint. We have also stayed at All Star Movies, great resort as well but being at the end of the line for buses, it seemed like we waited for ever and had to stand all the time. Going back in 28 days and staying at All Star Sports once again.

Every party has a p00per. . .

Since this is an All Stars love fest and with the number of people who are attracted to this board no doubt includes people who've never stayed in a Disney value hotel, I feel compelled to sprinkle a little rain on this parade.

The value motels are good for a very specific target audience, but they are NOT as nice as a Holiday Inn Express, or a Hampton Inn or a Courtyard by Marriott, etc. etc. Just know that going in.

First, the rooms are tiny. Many people really can turn off and on the light switch by the room door while lying in bed. I am not even kidding!

Second, the storage in the room is next to nothing. One little chest of drawers - very small, and the little table and chairs in the corner are the smallest you might ever see. :p

Third, as mentioned there is no coffee pot in the room, so bring your own. Neither is there a mini-fridge provided as a matter of routine, but you can rent one for a per day fee. Some people have talked about buying a mini-fridge at the local Wal Mart for the duration of their trip then selling it when they leave. So watch out for "psst. . . hey buddy. . .wanna buy a fridge?" out in the parking lot when checking in. Obviously, a hotel with no coffee pot is not going to deliver you a newspaper either, so enjoy being away from it all while staying here. :ROFLOL:

Fourth, the food court is the only place to get anything to eat and it has only the most basic of food and drink. Yes, this is where you get your coffee. Enjoy that walk, especially if it happens to be raining when you get up.

Okay, with all of that, the benefits are the Disney transportation, so you can fly in and use DME and avoid car rental fees. You get the extra hours of park opening and closing as scheduled, and you get a fun swimming pool well beyond what you'd get at a comparable off site motel.

So, there you have it. If I had really young kids or were flying in using the free transportation and was on a limited budget, a value would be okay. I've certainly spent my share of nights in the All Stars. Otherwise, there are many really good hotels just off property that may be less expensive, provide you with a free breakfast and a larger room to spread out in (being able to spread out is also relaxing when you're tromping the parks from dawn to dark) and offer more comfortable beds and both a hot cup of coffee and a room service option at the end of the night, so be sure to consider all your options when enjoying a Disney trip.

Just stayed at the All Star Sports.

We were not happy at all. We stayed at Pop Century before and we loved it, but for some reason, this time was not a good experience.

I think they do this to to make people want to stay at a moderate or better the next time. My wife is already planning this, they won.

The room was not very clean

The water in the bathtub dripped continously

I could not find a luggage rack to save my life

We were very far from anything (except for some people working out back) I know every hotel is like this, but this seemed ultra far.

Sorry you had a bad experience, tonganprice. Hopefully my appreciation of this being my only 2009 trip (that I know of) will make any 'bad' thing worth it! :D

By the way, do you care to write a trip report and tell us all about your time there?

Thanks!

The trip was great, other than the room issue. We had a blast. I will write a report.

I have been staying at sports for last 5 years exept for two years ago we stayed at CB. The place is always clean and the staff will go out of their way to help you. My kids love running on the football field or hanging by the pool. For the price there is not a better place to stay in Disney.
