All-star sports or music?

I'm planning a short trip for March, trying to decide between these two. We have stayed at Pop twice, POFQ once, and we are staying at AKL at Christmas. I have read that sports has a better bus situation? Just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on whether one is better than the other! Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the detailed reply!!! You made me feel much better about trying out the all-stars! We decided on Sports because of the buses, and my husband like the theme slightly better than music. Neither theme is particularly appealing to me, so I'm good with that. Thanks again for all the info!!

You are most welcome! Enjoy your stay, and have fun exploring the other two Resorts right next door to you. If given a choice between the three All Stars, the Food Court at Movies is the nicest!

Have a great time planning your trip, as it really is a part of the fun of going to WDW !

I totally agree! Planning and anticipating the trip are almost as fun as the trip itself!!

I have stayed at both and honestly they are both the same resort just with different themeing. I personally prefer Sports to Music just b/c all the All Star resorts share a bus and Sports is the first stop coming and going from the parks. Plus we are big sports fans and love all the Big Sports Icons thru out the resort. Nothing like playing a little game of football on the football field at the resort! Can't wait we check in to Sports in 5 days!!!!

I have stayed at ASMu resort 4 times and I can count on one hand the number of times that we shared a bus with any of the other AS resorts. Usually, that was a mid-day kind of thing. I have at the end of the evening hopped a bus to the one of the other AS resorts and planned on walking over the ASMu and the driver just popped in the drive and let us off. So to decide on the buses which resort is best is inaccurate because many, many times the buses are not shared. I really like the feel of ASMu, there is lush vegetation that gives you a real resort feel. I like the theming of the pool areas and other places. There is a beautiful spot in the center of the Jazz section with a fountain and iron fencing covered by roses that is a peaceful spot to hang out, it wouldn't seem so in the middle of everything but it is. Just my thoughts.

Good observation.
All-Star buses don't share from and to MK.
During opening and closing times, DHS and Epcot buses to and from All-Stars are separated until the crowds die down, then they do share.
AK to All-Stars shares buses, but it's such a short ride that it's not that big of an issue.
DTD to and from All-Stars share all the time.

So to decide on the buses which resort is best is inaccurate because many, many times the buses are not shared.

I agree and that is the case.
Resorts do not have dedicated buses that only service that resort.
All buses operate from one of five bus hubs and are sent as dictated by a number of factors to the resorts.

My pleasure to offer some insights based on my own personal experiences staying at All Star Music. I love it, mainly because it suits my few needs like a tight glove. :)

The bus situation is a lot more appealing when you consider you will have three bus options compared to just one. Like i said in my earlier post, it has saved my butt many times during some Park exits.

If you stay at the All Stars, take some time to explore the other Resorts literally 'right next door'. Check out the nicer Food Court at ASMovies and look over the grounds at Sports. It is fun if you have the time to get off at one of these other Resorts and explore...of course the same goes without saying of any of the Disney Resorts ( exspecially the Poly! ).

Have fun planning your visit !

:)

Yeah and like you all I need is a room with a shower and a bed and I am fine, as long as it is nice. We don't spend much time in the room other than sleep so as long as it is decent enough its good. I appreciate all your insight, I will definitely remember to look at this when it comes time for us to book our vacation.

The All Stars are great when that is all you need, with a dash of Disney whimsy in the decor/themed grounds.
All Star Music i will admit is a little more 'lived in' then the other two All Stars ( it is the oldest, and only recently had a lot of rooms refurbed ) and sometimes the room rates reflect this.
This is yet another advantage of staying at All Star Music, as depending on your booking dates you often will find Music at a cheaper rate then Sports or Movies. It all comes down to demand to stay there, and most families with kids want to stay at those other two Resorts mainly due to the kid-enticing theming ( giant figures of Toy Story characters, Dalmations, sporty icons, etc....). Music definately has fun theming too, just not as kid-attractive in comparison..thus less demand. Less demand = more money saved by you !

If you can get a room discount ( currantly there is one running for the early half of 2013 )you can really score.
It works out to about $63.00 a night per person for a room during non-peak times.
Considering that at that lower price you will still be entitled to all the included Disney Benefits of staying On-Site ( Magical Express, Extra Magic Hours, etc..) it is a decent bargin in my opinion. I still cannot fully understand why anyone would want to bother staying Off-Site to visit WDW.

Each there own of course....and we all have different needs when we travel.
