Here's the grist for the mill:

New Country - Rumor - (8/13/10) Apparently the sudden push to add a new country to Epcot was stirred up as an idea to add something for the park’s 30th Anniversary, which will begin Oct 1st, 2012. I’ve also heard that there is still talk about doing some kind of expansion to the Japan pavilion as well. Previously we’ve seen two big ideas get designed but never go anywhere, a Ginza shopping district style area and the former Mt. Fuji coaster idea, inspired by the Matterhorn at Disneyland, but evolved to become Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. Anyone have a clue just what may be in the works now?

I’m also starting to hear rumors of activity for Future World as well once again with the focus being on sprucing up one of the oldest attractions there (Universe of Energy) or bringing the old Wonders of Life pavilion back to life as something new. Chances are they’ll opt for the later due to the huge cost savings of reusing the existing structure.

Not much different than what we've read about here....

Thanks. But this sounds like new ideas for old problems.

True, but first before all that other stuff they need to fix SE, and do something with that hideous Imagination.

Amen to that. When I was in the park two Sundays ago, every ride in Future World had a wait time except Imagination. Even as Soarin' climbed close to 100 minutes, Test Track climbed to 70, and they were using the switchbacks on both sides of SSE, Imagination had no wait. Even the CMs at EO were dissing it. Personally, I think that it's more important to do Imagination than it is to 'fix' the SSE descent.

If it is for the descent it will happen third shift per Lee/Martin. Slight chance that is what it is but at least it is a chance.

I;ll take the chance over nothing thats for sure, but more than likely were looking at what the year 2020? ugg. How long is Siemens contract for?

No idea. They did such a great job with the first half of the ride (with 1 exception) and with the post show. Which makes the descent that much more puzzling. It is a real mystery.

It seems to take at least a couple of weeks between a permit being filed and work starting, at least in my experience observing the permit thread.

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for work during third shift then. But then at the time none of the insiders here have seemed to have heard anything.

Do you think the new permit indicates they finally found the money to finish the work?
Like Imagination, I won`t believe anything anymore until something is visibly happening. There has been more false starts than the M:I coaster.

There again I`ll have a quick look myself this Saturday evening :D

One thing I would LOVE to see added to Epcot is a Yellow Submarine dark ride, located in the Great Britain section. After all, Norway has Maelstrom, which illustrates Norway's rich legends and history. Britain should get a signature ride too, and what could be better than one based on its most famous export, the Beatles? :)
