Here is the update on the Walt Disney World website.

Beginning January 9, 2024, Guests with a ticket with Park Hopper benefits or an Annual Pass will be able to visit another theme park at any time of day during park hours (subject to capacity limitations).

On days when theme park reservations are required for Annual Passholders and on certain non-dated tickets, Passholders and their Guests will be able to take advantage of the updated Park Hopper policies after visiting their first park.

Two of my pet peeves eliminated - park reservations and 2 PM park hopping. There was no reason for either of those to remain this long after the pandemic died down.
Starting with visits on January 9, 2024, theme park reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets. A date-based ticket requires you to choose a start date when you purchase.
For other admission types, theme park reservations may be required.

No Theme Park Reservation Required
  • Date-based 1-day ticket
  • Date-based multi-day ticket
  • Vacation package with date-based tickets
Theme Park Reservation Required
  • Student group tickets
  • Sport and Convention ticket
  • Annual Pass
  • All other ticket types not mentioned above
For admission types requiring theme park reservations, be sure to check reservation availability prior to purchase. Please note that theme park reservations are limited in number and subject to availability. Availability can change until the theme park reservation is finalized.

Great news. Would've loved this on my recent trip last week.

This is all leading for virtual queues to go away in early 2024 imo.
With no park hopping restrictions, the afternoon 1pm drops becomes meaningless. The morning 7am drops may also go away altogether, or at the very least revert to park opening (which requires scanning in) if Disney insists on keeping VQ, as it was pre-Covid.

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
