Alien Encounter

Just got back from Disney in Nov. 2007. I knew Alien Encounter was gone and replaced by "Stitch Has a Glitch," but I couldn't help but be bummed by it. Especially after doing "Stitch" and seeing that they really didn't change very much of the layout/setup of the ride, only added Stitch and Co. and of course had the new audio. All I could see was where Stitch had been forced into what was once Alien Encounter. :(

Does anybody know of, or has anybody seen, any pictures of the old Alien Encounter ride? I did some poking on the site, got the preshow from either here or somewhere else, and the script for the show... But I'm not finding any great pictures. I'm trying to show/explain to my husband what AE was, and if I could find some photos of the creature, that'd be just awesome.

I'm assuming that, in the end, they took out the ride because it was too scary and people complained... Which is a shame. As I understood it, the ride was still popular with long lines right until the bitter end. I would have loved to have done that ride as an adult... Lord knows, I don't remember much about my trips as a kid, but I do remember that one scared the bejesus out of me.

Try Mousebits; we have 2 complete multi camera videos of the whole attraction

And yes, it was the dumb minority who complained about their kids being scared after they ignored all the warnings who had the attraction changed to SGE.

I remeber being inline for the ride and watching people leave and collapse in terror. I was thinking what kind of ride am I getting myself into. Old folks were sitting down being fanned by family, childeren were crying. WOW, what a ride. I enjoyed it alot and was dissappointed they took it and dissappointed by the whole Stitch concept. Not much creativity has gone into some of the referbs Disney has done lately.

I can see why some people might be offended by the ride for it was one of the more violent rides. The matinence man gets eaten, the script has others in the room being eaten, just a little over the top for what people think of Disney.

I went on Stitch with my daughter. I thought she would like since it was Stitch, but it was too scary for her.

Goodbye AE and hopefully one day goodbye Stitch.

I never saw people leave in terror or collapse as far as adults go.As far as fanning people I see that alot when it is hot and humid in florida or extremely sunny and people get heat stroke. Most people found AE more humorous and fun by the effects of the show. Now little kids would cry thats for sure but they will cry on IASW too....or is that grown men crying that they will never get that horrible tune out of their head

I witnessed a group run into Merchants of Venus screaming through the exit doors....

What made it so great was they brought the rush of smoke from the attraction with them. Very Surreal!

I too never saw over the top reactions, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were somewhat commonplace. That's what happens when something is done extremely well and effectively. You don't see those type of reactions coming out of something that isn't the best at what it does. Most people suspend disbelief quite a bit on attractions (I know I do), but sruely most folks know they are actually on an attraction and it isn't real. As long as they didn't complain about it (Even though they probably did.....jerks ;) ), I guess it wasn't a big deal.

It was a good attraction. The over the top panic of people were alot of first timers that didn't realize what the ride was about. I think alot of people were use to getting in a mobile ride not sitting and being part of an alien attack. I always did AE twice on my visits, it was one of my favorites.

Alien Encounter/Timekeeper was an excellent one-two punch at the entrance to Tomorrowland. Now they've ruined it by replacing them with dreadful attractions. All to sell backlogs of plush toys, I suppose. Shame.

I don't know why people always say they hate the new Stitch's Great Escape. Sure it has mistakes and sure it isn't going to be a classic, but the only reason WDW changed AE to Stitch was because Disney didn't want children crying and screaming at what is the Happiest place on Earth. IMO, i Like SGR. It isn't a favorite, but WDW replaced what was a scary attraction for kids, And some Adults, and replaced it with a fun-loving fluffy alien that kids love. Again , they could have done better, but at least you'll loose a couple pounds because you wont be hungry for the rest of the day after that Chili Dog Burp.:hurl:

Wrong - it was changed due to the vocal minority complaining there little ones were scared after they ignored the numerous warnings, both written and verbal. That`s what angers a lot of people. Not nesseccarily SGE or Stitch, but the needless dumbing down.
