Here's an outline of the building housing the 3 rides. There is another shop next to Peter Pan and the bathrooms on the other side with the Mad Hatter in the small building on the top. I assume these 2 or 3 places will be closed also.

And that's the thing that concerns me, that we will be waiting a long time to know how long the closure will last.
I disagree. The calendar only goes out 6 weeks which is why we just learned about the closures two days ago. If the closures only last 7 days, then we will know in 7 (now 5) days if they will be back up because we will see it on the calendar. We don't have to wait until June as the calendar will keep us 6 weeks ahead of knowing when they will return (unless there's an official announcement sooner).

The only reason we'd not find out until June would be if this shutdown was meant to last more than 6 weeks, which I highly doubt.

Logic dictates that they would shut down 3 of the 5 FL dark rides at the beginning of summer during the 100 year celebration for one of two reasons. 1) It's an emergency and it can't be helped, or 2) It's not meant to last for too long.

Since it is not happening for another 6 weeks that leads me to believe it is not an emergency, but something simply scheduled. Given when it is happening it is important enough to need to do so sooner than later, but not an absolute emergency where it has to go down tomorrow.

I honestly don't think these will be down for more than a week. Time will tell.

ETA: The only flaw in my logic is that Disney themselves don't know the timeframe, so it could be a short refurb but they don't add it back to the calendar right away.

That explains a lot.

It's been a few days now, and as of June 15, the latest date now available on the calendar, the Fantasyland rides will still be closed then. This leads me to believe that this is not just another routine rehab deal, but something much bigger, bigger than the installation of an HVAC or even new roofing, which I thought doesn't take such a long time.

They're gutting all three to build a Song of the South dark ride.

Really?

All I know is that this is already lasting more than a week, so I'm willing to bet that this could last for several weeks. I hope I'm mistaken, though, especially since, as I said, I will be going in September.

He's kidding.

I still think it's too soon to assume this is a major closure.

September is a busy month (arguably busier than June) once Halloween starts. Truthfully with the advent of APs/keys there is no “off season” anymore.

I still think these attractions will reopen by mid-July at the absolute latest if not the 4th. Though I do foresee Snow/Pinocchio going down too eventually, too.

Did this come onto the refurb schedule after the Fantasmic fire? I’m assuming it has something to do with that. Something about getting that building up to code or precautionary measure.
I had thought it happened slightly before the fire, but I'm not 100% certain.

If it was because of Fantasmic, I would think they would have shut down immediately afterwards, not several weeks later.

From what's been said here they did shut down the fire effect on the castle immediately after the Fantasmic incident. That will likely return after they do what they need to the roofs.

My guess is that they don't want the rides closed during Memorial weekend which is why they will close the week after. I still doubt they will be closed for more than a couple weeks. Then, as @BuzzedPotatoHead89 said, the Snow White and Pinocchio building will go down for a couple weeks.

Keep in mind, none of us knows the true reason for the shut downs and everything is speculation at this point, but I wouldn't be too concerned that they will be closed all the way through September.
