Al Lutz says Fantasyland Budget has been "Reduced"

If there was a slash of the budget, the key question would be "slashed by whom?"

This is the one that puzzles me, unless the rumor that the FL expansion plan came from above Rasulo's head is not true.

It's possible the entire expansion plan was a hoax. Don't forget that.

Pity, especially considering the plans did not impress me much to begin with. One great-sounding ride and a bunch of meet'n'greets is not particularly incredible to me... and now the budget is getting slashed? What else can they remove, another meet'n'greet? Or just the extravagance of the ONE ride we're getting?

Incredibly dissappointing... I almost thought they were at least on the right track, but it doesn't seem so.

And JT, honestly, your optimism and enthusiasm is reaching borderline ridiculous. You seem to blast any idea that tons of money and love will go to Disney World and pretend that all this "cut money" will go elsewhere for improvements. News flash: it won't. I remember just a few days ago you were saying how the reduced Space Mountain refurb's money will go into bigger and better things, like the Fantasyland expansion... oh... whoops. Things that get built initially tend to not be added on to later down the line to "improve" them, as you seem to claim will be happening... "prefurbs" or in this case "prebuilds" as you put it... if you need an example, just take a look at poor Spaceship Earth.

I didn't mean individual attractions being plussed. I meant attractions being added later. When the MK opened there was no TTA but it is obvious the buildings were designed for the ride to be added later. That is just one example. Hope that clears that up. And I have not given up that the blueprints are real. We just don't have proof of that. But we might someday. :)

That's another one I can't get either.

If it was a hoax, TWDC would have done everything possible at this point to publicly debunk it.

Because, let's be honest, a D23 parks announcement that doesn't include something at MK FL is going to cause quasi-riot conditions . . . well, at least from the few WDW fans who are going to be there.

There is going to be a riot anyways.

The only difference will be the degrees of "not enough" that will be shouted from the rooftops.

It seems unlikely that the plans were a hoax. From everything we've been hearing, the D23 people always planned to announce some kind of FL expansion.

I remember hearing how angry they were that their thunder was stollen by the leaked plans. I thought it was odd to be that bent out of shape about it. But, if their announcement is less than what was leaked, I can see why they would be upset. An announcement that would have excited a lot of fans is now likely to disappoint a lot of them.

Yes, my expectations were raised by the leaked plans. But a lot of people saw the plans and said "That's it?" So the if we don't even get the "That's it?" version, well, it's disappointing.

What, that Al Lutz is making things up again?

Just curious, can you provide some examples of things Al has "made up"? Because while he can be negative about his presentation, he seems to have his facts right most of the time.

I'm sorry, but I'm getting this humorous picture in my mind of Jay unveiling beautiful new art for the new TLM ride at WDW and having tomatos thrown at it and 'boos' coming from the crowd.

He told us that the dragon was poorly engineered by a third party vendor, then today he says the Disneyland techs broke it be operating it improperly.

Yeah, but the sad thing is, I'm sure we can name several posters here who would do just that!

That's not "made up". That's his sources telling him one thing and then something else at a later date.

That sort of thing happens all the time. Lots of times when I'm working on a problem at work I am told that it was caused by an outsider only to find out a few weeks later that the problem was internal.

If Al says the budget was reduced, odds are it was reduced. But what that means is anyone's guess until the official announcement.

What a surprise, management has decided to slash a budget. I honestly hope that attendance drops like a brick next year. Maybe then management will get it through their heads that they need to start really investing in their parks.

Nothing new here...budgets have always been reduced. All they need to add is a new Dark Ride(Mermaid) and I will be happy.

I have a bridge I want to sell you if you believe a false rumor about a false rumor.
