So this bear apparently comes to life (it dresses itself and assails you in your sleep) as it is made with a piece of Minnie's heart (eewww), unless I mis-read....which I didn't. This is apparently a voodoo bear that brain washes you. If you read the whole comic it becomes quite clear that Duffy is in total control of everyone and draws them to himself like a beacon. Haunting. I will be getting one.

Pretty 100% positive that the "Disney Bear" and "Duffy" are the same thing.

That's what I thought but here's part of a post from a few days back:

I first read about Duffy on Jack Spence's blog on Allearsnet a few months ago. Scroll down a little ways and you'll see it here. ((Moderating Gods, that link is not to boost bandwidth...it's for informational purposes. Please forgive the linky-pooh.)) After I read the blog I was intrigued, naturally, considering I'm a doll-collector and love toys and such. I went to eBay to do more looking around. What I've been able to gather from my hunting is that Duffy is not the same as the Disney Bear. First & foremost, he's bigger at 17" vs. Disney Bear typically at 13". Also, go search for Duffy on eBay. Last one I saw was going at $1000 USD. It's a collectible. They will market it as such. It won't be just for kids, just for girls vs. boys, etc. Duffy is for everyone!

Duffy is huge in Tokyo. I think I read he has a female counterpart sold at Tokyo Disney Sea named Tilly or Tilly May or something like that. There are groups of people who make clothes/costumes for their bears then show them off in the parks.

She seems to have done her research and know what she is talking about. Like I said I guess I'll figure it out when I'm there in December or when someone posts some pics on here.

Why does Clarabelle look like a cross between Mickey and pig in that story? Pretty creepy overall.

You are irritated by the references because they all contradict your notions.

Not at all. In fact, I really don't care that much either way. However, none of these "references" contradict anything as I already said.

Additionally I have proven my objectivity by conceding several points in favor of Potter. I have repeatedly stated Potter is popular and important just not on par with Star Wars. I absolutely supported the poster that said WWoHP will be bigger than Star Tours 2. I have admitted references from the books and movies have penetrated pop culture. I agreed that Harry may be selling more in-park merchandise, but since we don't have the sales figures no one know that for sure, and it isn't the slam dunk Potter fans are purporting. I totally give Harry credit, where it is due.

That isn't being objective. You would be deemed a delusional nutjob if you didn't at least concede to Harry Potter being popular. My point was that you are CLEARLY a Star Wars fanatic. Nobody who loves something as dearly as you love it can be objective in any way. It's like a mother trying to be objective about her daughter or son. It just can't happen.

If the examples you refer to me brushing off were your mean spirited characterizations of my posts or unfounded bashing of Star Wars and Harry Potter fans, then yes I did ignore them because there really isn't a counter argument to something as stupid as, "Boys between the ages of 5 and 10 enjoy all kinds of terribly unpopular things like worms and mud."

Where was my "bashing of Star Wars fans" in any of my posts? I like both Star Wars and Harry Potter. I said that comment about boys and worms to point out your completely illogical conclusion that 5 year-old boys liking Star Wars more than Harry Potter proves anything about the rest of the population. It was supposed to be funny. I'm sorry you didn't get it. It still doesn't change the fact that you ignored the fundamental issue that your argument wasn't even remotely sound.

Obviously you aren't that interested the Duffy Bear topic because you have posted multiple times on this thread and have yet to offer anything related to the bear. You were one of the first people to comment on the Star Wars vs Harry Potter subject in responding to sublimesting, and are now just attacking people because you have been so soundly proven wrong, and are unable to admit it. But since you have no real arguments to make you can only attack other posters, make ridiculous statements, and complain about a thread drift you were instrumental in creating.

I most certainly was not "instrumental in creating" the thread drift. You attested to something very strongly that I deemed lacking in any proof so I pointed this out. It was not an invitation for you to provide us all with a 90 post thesis on how totally awesome Star Wars is.

I have a valid point now. Like I said, As a franchise HP is complete. SW is still producing new books and television. The SW story continues on. SW has basically been a continuing saga for 33 years now. Within 13 years of being released (where the HP franchise is now) Star Wars was in the midst of its first resurrgence when new books and comics were being published with the new wave of VERY popular figures to follow in a couple of years. At the 13 year point STar Wars was FIRMLY in the lexicon of our culture where HP is not close to being at that point. No doubt HP books and movies are wildly popular but they are not at the level of Star Wars.

No, it's not over. 2 more movies, rumors of follow up books, Islands land, probably dozens of side-story books like Star Wars has.

It's not over. Not at all.

What I mean is the story is in fact done. I know there are movies but the tale is told. J.K. is too controlling to yield any for lack of a better word control. I would love some follow up books but as of yet there is nothing.

Yup, the beauty of the Star Wars universe is there's novels by dozens of authors.

I doubt we'll see many more HP books, let alone this many http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_books

I wouldn't count it out quite yet. I've heard many rumblings.

And true it may not have as many Star Wars novels but quality not quantity. :animwink:

After all, most of those SW novels have to balance on the story of 2 extremely bad movies.

True. If Potter were to actually end with 8 books and 9 movies (I believe those are the correct numbers but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong), that may actually be preferable to what happened with Star Wars. In retrospect, I wish Lucas had stopped after Jedi. And I wish he'd done a little better with that one.

I think Duffy's kinda cute. I wouldn't mind a little merchandise here and there in Main Street, and a little M&G I wouldn't mind. Just so long as they don't go the Pixie way and decide to create a whole land themed to it!

I agree!!:):)

By the way does any one know if Duffy will be in movies and T.V shows or is it a just a Disney Park thing?
