Al Lutz reporting marketing push for 2011

This is ridiculous. The whole thing was that Duffy was made by Minnie for Mickey so that he could have a friend on his long OCEAN EXPEDITIONS. If they're going to do this, make it fit on the Disney Cruises, but not in the theme parks. I think it only works in DisneySea, where the theme is really ocean travel.

I don't think the story would have to be limited to ocean excursions. Traveling around the "world" in Epcot or the state of California in DCA seem to qualify as lengthy excursions.

It sounds like a worthwhile idea, much like Pal Mickey that eventually died out. I don't think it will be anything that will bother anyone come October.

Oops, edited. But World Showcase doesn't make a whole lot of sense either, but it's better than AK. And I agree, the Cali Adventure thing is extra bizzare.

Maybe it has something to do with trying to get more kids interested in WS. They have the Kim Possible thing and maybe Duffy is supposed to add some kind of kid-centric aspect. Just taking a wild guess. Who doesn't want to buy a Duffy in a different flag shirt from all over WS for $25 a pop? Oh yea... parents. :dazzle:

Oh well. I'm not a fan of bringing this over to the states but I'm not gonna moan and gripe about it. Does no good... just look at... *points at avatar*.

They'll have to stick that poor bear in a princess costume or it will never meet the cutting edge Disney marketing standard!

Right, because that's all Disney is concerned with right now. Just as Universal is only focused on little boys wanting to play wizard....:hammer:

Uh-huh.

Oh, I forget he was your neighbor, right?

Everything is about money, Walt was just as greedy as the next person.
Walt did not care about making money for the sake of making money. He cared about using the money to do things and innovate and create things for the world to enjoy.

I know that is a tough subject, but if he were as greedy as the people who now control his company, projects like Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and even the very thought of building the original EPCOT would have never existed.

I am sure he liked money, but he knew the right time to put his artistic integrity in front of his need for money.

I guess you are just here to flame up the board.

Walt was not greedy like company presidents and CEO's are today. He mortgaged his family's house, life insurance, and handicapped their lifestyle for a long time just to keep the film company going.

There are a few books out there that detail these facts, but I guess you must be part of the HP/Uni fanboi club and are too ignorant to pick up a book.

Actually, Duffy originated in the US as Disney Bear. He started here!!! They came up with that story to fit into Tokyo Disney Sea. I'm sure they could come up with a new story to fit into Epcot or where ever they plan to market it!

Walt wasn't.

Walt was a business man... I'm not saying he was greedy, nor were all his decisions based on money... but he was in the business of making money!

Disney World is here today b/c it makes money!

I don't see why this Bear is a big deal to all the fan boys out there. If it's a character or product that doesn't interest you than you don't have to buy it or wait in line to meet it!

And maybe if it's popular enough it will bring in some dollars for the Mouse... and then maybe the Mouse will build an attraction that interests you!?!

Yeah, Potter is as big with girls as it is with boys. I didn't get that post either. HP encompasses almost all demographics, it doesn't just appeal to a select group.

Neither does Fantasyland itself. The FLE is being exapnded for a target demographic, but nothing (save for ToonTown) is being lost.......

Yeah, as is, FL does well to appeal to everyone. And the FLE won't hurt FL at all.

I don't have a problem with the M&G's other than the money being used on them. Other than creating space in FL, I don't see how it helps the rest of the park. I could even see it hurting by investing so much in one area that really doesn't need that BIG of an expansion to cover its problems, that it neglects the other areas and parks.
