Al Lutz reporting marketing push for 2011

Agreed. It does put WDW to shame. It puts every other park out there to shame. It's one of its kind. I mean the only one that can be compared to it would have to be Animal Kingdom, and that's only for theming. Disney Sea is the full package, theming, attractions, etc. Anyway, The only that can be compared to DisneySea is Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I'm hoping we get a DisneySea though.

I do to!!

But knowing TDO they'll find a way to mess it up :(.

Why must everything Disney does have to be considered a counter to Potter?

Temporal association does not denote a causal relationship.

Understood. It's pure speculation, of course.

But reports say Disney's upset about leaving money on the table while Potter is raking in the merch money. Suddenly, they roll out a marketing campaign that seems designed solely for the purpose of selling teddy bears.

I don't think it's a big leap to connect those dots.

But seriously why would they announce the FLE right before Potter was completed? And why would they announce their new marketing scheme right at the end of the "Potter Summer"

FLE had nothing to do with Potter. It was happening anyway. The announcement happened when it happened presumably because of D23 and the leaked blue prints.

When did the plans start coming together for it?

Potter was announced in 2007 so plans were already coming together for that before then.

I heard Hp just installed a new rail. jk jk

Potter opened in June. FLE was announced in September 2009.

I dind't know this had become Potter Summer and that August 9 was the end of summer.

I'm sure there is a subtle dance that Disney and Universal are doing, but to think that the next marketing scheme that also involves DL and DCA is part of that is a little bit of a stretch to me.

I think most of us want Disney to announce something that can be pointed to as the Potter-counter, but so far we've gotten an expansion that address problems that are already there and the usual marketing.

I'm not sure exactly when the plans started. But that's not the point. Disney had back-up plans for Potter as our insiders have told us. FLE wasn't related to Disney's "Potter-swatters". It's something they were doing to address MKs capacity issues (as well as sell merch to little girls) and would have happened regardless of Potter.

Sorry for the two post in a row.

I don't think the dots connect given that this doesn't involve WDW exclusively.

It really just seems like this is the next Magical Dreams of Wishes to Celebrate a 100 years of Dreaming to Wish of Magic Celebrations.

What? Go to IOA and see how packed it's been this summer. it was on the news and everything. It was Potter summer.

And for some people yes.

And well I mean I guess. Let Disney keep doing what they're doing because they're doing a great job

I wouldn't expect it to be exclusive to WDW.

I agree it's just another marketing campaign. But this one feels more like an attempt to get people shopping. Of course, execution has everything to do with it. Maybe the final product will change my mind.

Right now, I can't help feeling like they are selling WDW as a giant Build-a-Bear Workshop.

Maybe that's what the public wants.

I agree.

My only disagreement is that this is some sort of counter to Potter.

From everything I've seen of Disney so far, it looks like they are just going about their business (whatever one's personal opinion of that may be).

Is that why Small World is closed now? "Duff beer for you. Duff beer for me. I'll have a Duff. You'll have one too."

I mostly agree. But I have to wonder if Potter hadn't opened and sent Disney into a merch frenzy if the marketing campaign still would have focused on selling a teddy bear.

I'm going to guess yes. They brought Vinylmation over. It was only a matter of time until the next best thing over there came here
