AKL or CBR? Help please!!

Hi all,

I am looking at planning another trip to Disney in September (assuming my bonus comes through!!! :ROFLOL:) - my question is, where should I stay? At the moment I have the choice between AKL and CB - I stayed at the CB last year, which was my first time at staying on Disney property - and we really enjoyed the experience.

The deal is that I could get 14 nights at the CB for the same price as 10 at AKL. Also we could be just going for 7 nights - as I said nothing is decided yet! Depends on cash as this is an unplanned last minute trip!

At first we thought AKL as it is a deluxe resort - but reading reviews it looks like it could be a bit far out and also we could get a room overlooking a car park - not ideal for the price?!

I am 30 and my DB is 25, so we want somewhere that is gonna be quite chilled out - we also tend to eat at Epcot etc quite late, so don't want to be finding it tough to use the transportation to get back to resort.

The other thing to add is that this is going to be our Disney Wedding planning trip - so quite a special trip! So, if we did go back to CB, then could anyone suggest any nice rooms - last time we stayed at Aruba, which we really liked - but I have heard you can request King sized rooms etc that are a bit more special?

As always - all help appreciated! Most exciting! :sohappy:

Hi!

I've stayed at the CBR on two occasions and loved it! You can request a King-Bedded Room @ the CBR and may want to ask for a preferred room in the Martinique buildings or Trinidad North buildings. The value and moderate resorts are always much fun. The deluxe resorts have a very laid back atmostphere and just the place to be if you want to do just that- kick back and relax!

I've visited the AKL during our stay for my cousin's wedding [I can show you a teaser slideshow if you'd like]. My cousin stayed at AKL to prep for wedding day. It's very cozy. The TS at AKL are amazing and well worth your time and every penny.

I'd just rather take advantage of a couple more nights at the CBR than end it soon at AKL. You don't necessarily have to stay at AKL to enjoy it :animwink: and stop by Kidani Village while you're there!

Be sure to let the front desk know you're staying for your fairytale wedding planning and they may surprise you both :animwink:

Enjoy your trip!

I'd vote AKL. I've stayed at both, and we just loved AKL. It's a gorgeous hotel with great restaurants as mentioned.

Can you spring for a Savannah view? They are definitely worth the money. If you can't swing it, I think I'd still pick AKL over CBR, although if that means a shorter trip makes it a harder decision.

If you're only going for a week at either place - hands down, AKL.:)

Another vote for AKL! I've also stayed at both and while CBR is great, you just can't beat the feel of the lodge or the opportunity to be so close to the animals!! I can't comment on the buses because we drive, but even if it takes a bit longer to get somewhere it's well worth it.

The savannah view is quite a bit more, however, you might want to consider booking a pool view room, as they're usually only $10 more per night than a standard. This way you can ensure you don't get a parking lot view... and many of the pool view rooms aren't too far from the quick service restaurant.

Why not just stay at CBR for the 14 nites instead of 10 and when you plan your wedding trip stay at AKL if thats where you really want to stay the most??
