AK Dragon on Logo Explained

I don't think there is a new logo...unless Studios, Epcot and MK's logos have also changed to those on the banners that correspond to those parks...

It looks nice...but I don't think so...just my opinion.

Nope... I think it's a pretty picture for a new banner. Not sure where the idea of a new LOGO started, but it's rampant now.

Banners have come and gone in the world for years. Each one is an artistic endevour and does not mean the logo changes each time a representation is used.

Check out Orlandorocks.com for some recent photos.

in my opinion i dont think there is a straight down 80 ft drop. no pictures show anything to indicate that it is that big. you can look at construction equipment in the same frame and it doesnt seem close to that high. i am kind of hopng there isnt a huge drop like that , i dont dig them. i guess im just a big baby when it comes to that but i have no problem auto crossing my car through a parking lot at 70 mph on the weekends.

the 80 ft drop is there somewhere (it wouldn't be "straight down"... very few coasters feature vertical drops). Buf if you think 80 ft is scary try the 400 ft "Top Thrill Dragster" at Cedar Point, or the 450 ft KingdaKa at Six Flags Great Adventure

OK, I have to give an opinion on the new Magic banners of AK. Now when you look at the animals 3 then 2 on the sides of the tree, I see an elephant for sure but the rest of the animals are fuzzy. What animals are they?
Now I can see Everest mountain behind the tree. But when you look above the mountain I see the clouds which form a dragon. Right so far?
Well, I think the "new magic" means LUCKY just like all the other parks have new attractions. Well, Ak has Lucky coming and he is a new kind of magic. Do you get it? Perhaps the BIG news is that Lucky will be coming back after his 3 month showing. What do you think?

Lucky is a dino, not a dragon. Also, the clouds don't form a dragon. EE will be opening later in the celebration, it is the new ride for AK for the celebration. Lucky is cool and all, but Lucky alone isn't going to pull anyone into the park.

I do know that most companies take their logos very seriously, and I would suspect that Disney feels more strongly about their graphical representation than most. I can't imagine that Disney would allow anything in their logos that do not have significance; thus, I do not believe that the dragon is random, or temporary. Whether or not it represents Lucky . . . who knows? Just from memory, I don't recall Lucky looking that "mythical" though.

The whole Beastly Kingdom argument has gone on for awhile but if I'm not mistaken wasn't EE originally supposed to be a ride themed around a dragon and was retooled when the whole BK thing was scrapped? I would like to see this happen but its been in the air for so long, I'll have to head down the road of "I'll believe it when I see it announced"...

Aw man. I'm dumb. Just disregard anything I say.

Wow, how did I miss that?

For what it's worth... you aren't alone! I missed it the first time I looked at it too. :hammer:

I just thought I would pass along a little info about why the dragon may still be included. As I said, I don't know more then what I've said, they don't sit around and tell me all the up and coming attractions that are being planed

Well, if they won't tell you outright, do the proper thing for all us internet dweebs and SPY on their conversations, hide in closets, stow away in the trunk of your Dad's car.

Let's put a little EFFORT into this, why don't we. :D :D :D

Isn't it just possible the banners were made or designed by someone who has no clue about what is going on, and that he was just following orders to create it using the current Animal Kingdom logo. This can just be the case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing, like when Disney magazines sometimes use pictures of Disneyland labeled as Walt Disney World.

The people who designed these banners are probably just stooges who have no idea what is really going on in the company, and created this banner using images that have been in the Animal Kingdom logo for almost a decade.

...or maybe its just part of a vast company-wide conspiracy to confuse and excite Disney fans like us for atleast a short time...

Nope, Expedition: Everest is a totally new concept. You're thinking about the ride called "Dragon Tower." Since the Dragon still remains on Animal Kingdom promotional items, it is leading many members of this website to speculate that there is still hope for this ride and/or the concept of Beastly Kingdom.

I do not believe that Beastly Kingdom as a whole can exist now because of Expedition: Everest. It would be odd to have an entire land of mythological creatures in one spot, and then have Expedition: Everest all by itself, chilling in Asia. WDI would have to continue placing mythological creatures in their appropriate continent.

I thought that I had read that this is what happened to the BK idea - instead of its own land, it will be spread throughout the park (hence EE in Asia). If Disney is drawing on the MGM model (add 2 E-tickets and significantly increase attendance), we should expect another big one at AK after EE is finished. My guess is that they build Mt. Prometheus, containing JTTCOE, in the former BK area (which will balance out the park and avoid the MGM error of 2 E-tickets side by side). This is consistent with the rumors of a TDS ride coming to WDW by 2009. It can be "Americanized" by replacing the Lava Worm with a dragon and tweaking the story, thus tying it back in to the logo (if the logo has anything to do with this at all).

Hey, JTTCOE redone with a dragon might work, it'd be a clone of the ride but the theming would have to be redone.....Of course would it fit anywhere but Asia, where else in AK could you stick a dragon?

Dragons are a part of many cultures other than Asian. Most notably European in conjunction with knights and castles.

Don't forget that JTTCOTE is based on a novel, and if I recall correctly, there are no dragons in that novel. Tweaking the ride to include a dragon would ruin the basis/premise of the ride.

I didn't say this was new logo, just the logo they are using for the celebration, non the less, as some of have pointed out, Disney spends tons of time making sure everything that goes out into public view is 100% acurate. Yes there have been some mistakes in the past, like mixing up pics of Disney Land for WDW in the magazine. But those aren't something as huge as banners in every park that millions of people will see. So from the little I've heard, Disney is well aware the dragon is still on there and would have taken it off if there wasnt something planned.

True, but I was thinking they could re-theme the ride and call it something else (Fire Mountain?). Kind of like Dinosaur is a re-themed Indy. Same ride, totally different experience. Of course, if I'm not mistaken, JTTCOE uses the same ride technology as Test Track, which would make it a re-engineered clone of a re-engineered clone.

Also, if they build it over near Camp Minnie-Mickey, there's no real "land" there, so the theme can be wide open (not tied to a continent).

One major problem with that. BK was originally meant to be where Camp Minnie Mickey is now. With the mass sucess of FotLK (as well as enclosing that show in a permanant theater), it would need to go somwhere else.

Dinosaur is not a rethemed Indy. Just because there the same ride technology doesn't mean there the same. Thats like comparing a small steel Rollercoaster (like the Barnstormer) to a huge 80mph steel rollercoaster (like something in Cedar Point).
