We used to think that Pop was the best value resort but we have come to sing a different tune. We had to make a flying trip to FL at the beginning of March and could only get accommodations at ASMu. We were in a family suite, myself, DH, and DS (19). What a wonderful experience. There was a dance and band competition going on but the kids there were all very well behaved. The resort was clean, restful, suites wonderful. Although there may have been slightly fewer options at the food court, the food was delicious and fresh. I found it quite restful not to have loud piped in music in the food court & pool side on a continual basis.
We arrived about 10:30 to 11 am on a Saturday morning and check in was a breeze. Our suite was ready and they even wanted to give me a rose at check in; I'm allergic so it was "thanks, but no thanks." Our room was clean, large and comfortable. There are two bathrooms in the suites and each has a privacy screen that pulls across the sink area, which Pop does not have. There was a fridge, some assortment of paper plates, bowls, cups and plasticware, microwave & coffee maker in the kitchette area, as well as a small sink. We brought an assortment of cereals and snacks with us. The gift shop has a rather large assortment of basic food items, dairy products, cereals, bread, luncheon meats, cheeses, wine, etc. We ate breakfast in our room everyday. As the early riser of the crew, I found it wonderful to quietly get my breakfast, still in my jammies, then go back to bed if I wanted to. We probably saved $100.00 - 150.00 dollars in breakfast and snacks over the course of our stay from what we had spent in December. Having the kitchette was wonderful.
We were located in the Jazz buildings on the corner closest the piano pool facing the courtyard and noise was not an issue in our room. We only shared a bus with the other All Stars during the middle of day one time. The buses were about as prompt as they were for Pop in Dec but there didn't seem to be nearly as many scooters there.
I'm not so sure that POP is my favorite anymore.
